So far, I checked gstrapinuse offers the cheapest price among I asked. I'm still considering should I take the AP-48EX or straight away get the AP-68EX to be safe hmm.gif
*
its up to u.
but there are ppl who prefer 2 smaller dry boxes than 1 big one, reason cos the big one doesnt have good airflow as smaller ones.
so the humidity at some places inside is not accurate.
my 38L is doing fine, cept i got no place to put my flashes tongue.gif

No worries. I was not referring to you because besides you personally testing the lens at BTS and giving your opinions, you always mention that at the end of the day, the person needs to try it out for himself.

Anyway, I'm not saying that one cannot go to BTS to try and test lenses before buying but then please be reminded that in that short time, you can just make first impressions of the item you're "testing".
*
True, the short time test is just "first impressions"; but it will help to read around and use as reference when testing; e.g. slow focusing, one can test is and "roughly" see if it's acceptable slow; Of course, on the field use is again different case and overtime, when one uses a faster focusing lens, things will again be different. Those "first impression" test are more or less to get the feel and also usually compare few lenses to decide the purchase, or worth the investment.

On the field use, can be different again, like focus accuracy especially, how the focus speed during real shooting, etc. One thing is as you said, it's also up to the person handling it, how he/she accommodate to overcome the lens weakness, etc. (e.g. slow focusing --> pre-focus earlier, etc; but focus accuracy is tough here). Of course, with better tools, it helps.

Anyway, if I have not personally tested and own a particular lens, I will be honest upfront and say that I have not unlike some here who claims that touching and fondling it at the shop or fired few test shots in BTS is considered testing.  hmm.gif

My opinions are based on my understanding and after owning several AF-S as well as AF lenses along the way. You sound like you own a lot of lenses but have you own enough to form an opinion?

*
No offense here but u conclude base on your understanding of owning other AFS/D lenses other than the 85mm F/1.4G. The 1.4D is my friend's copy, i had the pleasure of using it ever since he bought it ( On weddings/outdoor ) not just a while but usually for the whole session so i believe i am eligible to give a truthful opinion regarding the G vs D... I have not own many lenses before but i am just saying based on what I have used extensively/owned smile.gif

Good point about using 2 smaller units vs 1 big unit. Eh, you afraid your flash will get moldy? hmm.gif thumbup.gif Don't forget to store your batteries as well. tongue.gif

The drybox will be storing

1x Body + Grip
1x Body Only
4x Lenses (normal length lenses)
2x Flashes

Yet to own any tele, but this will be it as for the time being. Should the AP-48EX sufficient with plenty of spaces left? unsure.gif

AP-48EX worked for me previously...

70200 VRII, 1635, 18105, 50mm, D90 x2 and 20+ 8mm tape (those old recorder~).

Currently using 88EX to fit D700, D90, 70200, 85, 1635, instax 7s, those cartridges, also the 8mm tapes etc.

Some AFS lens focuses even slower than the D version, a good example will be the 50 f/1.4 AFS vs AF-D...i noticed nowadays only the pro lenses focuses real fast ( f/2.8 zoom lens ), the latest f/1.4 lens can't match the pro lenses in speed for sure sweat.gif

Films and tapes yes, they do get hit by fungus if in a humid weather eventually. But for DSLR bodies, I don't know for sure. Since got space, why not? biggrin.gif

The body with BG, need to unattach the lens to keep or able to keep it while with the lens attached? unsure.gif

AP-48EX sounds like a bit tight looking at what you managed to kept in previously. For my gears, it should be ngam ngam fit only (the will be one extra space since I don't have tele and if I'm not putting my flash in as well).

Therefore, only lens required to be stored in drybox leaving the bodies and flashes outside without harm? huh.gif

Oh, my lens are not attached to my body inside my dry box. Occasionally maybe the 1635 or 85 is attached only, the 70200 usually is detached.

Err, I don't what should be inside, lens definitely. Body I'm not sure if fungus will grow or not :S.

From your experience, would the AP-48EX able to fit in D7000 + BG + 17-55 2.8G & D7000 + 85 1.4G attached with 2 extra lenses? Still got room for flashguns (or tele lens) or it is necessary to detach the body and lens? unsure.gif

Not to say I'm lazy... but I'm just looking at the possible convenient tongue.gif

u got TWO d7000 bodies?
D7000 + BG + 17-55 will take up one compartment already, with space for any flash except for SB700 cos of its stupid case.
