according to a phone seller, he's advising close friends not to get sgs2 because of the heat issue. after 10mins of use, phone becomes hot. so, the phone can't last long...

benny, i read in some forum, they stated calibrated the battery by charge it for 8 hours then off it then charge again.and recommended do it monthly. will it damage the battery if charge that long time?

That was highly recommended in desire HD thread and it originates from one ( ONE , SATU ) guy in XDA

You know something, many users forgot that all users at XDA are just like us. They are not wiser, more intelligent than us. The proficient and knowledgeable ones are usually the developers and a few of the tech engineers. Majority who post in XDA are sama sama with us. However being a very established website for geeks, whatever posted at XDA are often taken as truths and facts. It just take ONE guy in XDA to post something negative - it will be flamed out within a day and become a truth. I see many users here always like to quote XDA sometimes to prove a point - I just " cry" reading it

And I dont practice their recomendations. Initially I will just charge it full let it empty out and recharge it again. Simple. And my phone always on charge if power point available whether at desk or in car

The simple answer is no. These days the batteries that you use have a built in chip which regulates the voltage and also cut the power when the batts is charged full. Cheap unbranded batteries are likely not to have these chips just in case you are thinking to get 3rd party batteries.

Again, not all 3rd party batteries are made alike. Even the original batteries are actually "OEM" rebranded batteries but they have been designed and made specially for the phone. Frankly, if you are so worried about battery life then just get additional batteries. What's the point if you can't enjoy your phone to the fullest?

hey guys,
need your opinion,

last nite went to Maxis Midvalley to get SGSII since they're having promotion RM1399 for 2 years contract with 500mb data plan. The promotion is valid until 22 July (yeah, everyone know this thing).

Unfortunately they said i cannot get that prmotion price anymore since they are out of stock. But if you want non contract they have stock. shakehead.gif

What kind of dirty business is this.

I dont see any clause saying that this promotion is valid while stock last.

Anything that i can do beside buying non contact phone?

just upgraded the ROM to KG1. So far so good. Now when charging the phone, in the lock screen, it shows the battery percentage.

With that said, the korean spec batts really do feel like they last longer lol.

do i regret after hearing it? NOPE?

i think its worth all the money spent on this phone -- i got what i wanted from my phone -- 3g video call and good photos. downloaded the video and photos i took over the weekend and they are simply amazing! i just love this phone! best rm2099 i ever spent!

talking about ROMs are a phone specific discussion btw  rolleyes.gif .. i guess yes since the stock browser on SGS2 is fully gpu accelerated and it handles flash nicely indeed.. i guess its one of the key points when comparing sgs2 to other dual core since samsung has developed a perfectly awesome browser, still needs improving on bookmark manager though.. huhu

tried out the default browser and i have to say, i am not impressed by it. i still like dolphin hd more. i guess to each, his own. smile.gif

reason for not being impressed -- i was browsing LYN forum and trying to reply... somehow, i was not able to scroll properly and view the text box -- so i was not really able to be sure of what i had typed. compared with dolphin, i have no such issue.

ok, another topic... from what i understand from pg1, the charging port on sgs2 is actually microUSB, correct? i tried plugging in the cable from my external harddisk and it didn't seem to be able to go in...
* was i being to gentle?

asking partly coz i noticed my Asus TF charger is actually a 2 piece charger (1 pc is the adapter/ charger that connects to the wall 3pin socket and 1 is a USB to proprietary ASUS port). it's stated as 2.1A on the adapter. so... can i find a usb to microusb (assuming the port on sgs2 is microusb) and use that to charge the phone?

i think benny88 mentioned he uses the kensington car charger (or sth like that). i checked out the link before and it shows a adapter (for the car cigarette point) with what looks like a usb port.

just wondering... so at least if i travel, i can reduce the number of things to carry... smile.gif
*
was actually hoping benny888 can comment a bit on this... rolleyes.gif notworthy.gif

updated: tested with the cable from external harddisk... quite sure it can't go in.

Just got my SGS2 from Sen Heng Kemuning Utama yesterday. Booked last Wednesday. Surprised that the Salesman told me that they got it from Kota Bharu branch. Wondering WHY they shipped to that branch even though they have HIGH DEMAND in Klang Valley.  hmm.gif If I'm not mistaken Sen Heng took 200 units at first batch & distributed to all branches.

Consider it's good deal compared with the rest seller outside.

RM2099 - RM50 Voucher + RM99 PWP (Jabra BT2045 Bluetooth Headset + 16GB Kingston MicroSD Class 4) = RM2148 @ 6 Months 0% Interest Installment Plan

Moreover, 3 Years Warranty (1st year by SME & 2nd - 3rd year by Sen Heng)

Plus, gave me The Smurfs umbrella & football as free gift.  rclxms.gif

Now, looking forward for my Momax I Case Pro to be delivered next week. Wanted to buy Otterbox Commuter Case but it's still not available yet in market.

Ok. That's a HAPPY new user here. Mr. Benny. Appreciate if you can add me to the user list too. Thx.

Now... started to cook my SGS2...

Hi mhhee,

Are you already a plusone member under Sengheng? If not, need to pay the RM12 in order to get the price you got for the phone right?

LYN forum posting /replying issues on the phone and even on my galaxy tab has some issues. It is related to LowYat web. You don't see such obvious issues posting/replying in other web forums. Anyway if you frequently need to post/reply on lowyat forums - Opera Mobile is better than Dolphin. I do not use stock default browser at all. I only use Dolphin HD most of the time. If I need to post on lowyat a long post I will use Opera Mobile. For short replies I use Dolphin HD
