seriously, how did you managed to rent a place without a valid WP ?

i guess you havent met the "other" side of singapore. The one which primarily focuses on monetary gain and follow the mantra, "You can do whatever you want, just dont get caught".

just to rephrase your question ... if you don't get a job, you need to vacate singapore from 16august to 16september.

you are asking what if you get a job offer today, and your work permit IPA is issued on 22august, whether (1) you are allowed to come in with the IPA on 22august, or (2) no matter what you gotta wait til 16september then only come back in.

correct?

ya that what i mean, sorry for my broken English. so it possible? anyways can i apply something like working permit temporarily?

i wanna ask, what kind of job can a materials engineer look for or expect in singapore? Because normally ppl only say mechanical or electrical or chemical.. I screened thru jobstreet and so on, i saw most of the engineering field is semicon related, is there any materials engineer or who might know about the market in sg that we materials engineer would best fit in? I would prefer metal related industry..

Normally what i see if you pay half month rental commission to the agent, the other half month are paid by the landlord, that was i experience last time when i rent a room through agent. Would it be 18.2k now? hmm.gif Very lucrative??? drool.gif

In Sabah, particulary KK, the living expenses is pretty high and is almost on par like KL but salary still remain low...People from Sabah cant wait to get out and you want to go there pula. May be you can consider working inside those palm oil plantation.

where is your "back home" that can buy landed for under rm200k? hmm.gif

anyway yes it is in property agent's best interest to drive the prices higher. higher price = higher commission for them mah. but this is also supported by high demand - if got low demand high supply, agents however bullsh*t you also they got not much influence to increase prices.

There are a lot of gated communities in JB. Most of the new development has got 'gated communities' like Ada heights, Bandar Dato Onn, and a bunch more. Unfortunately, I think the prices of these properties are very high (most >500k). The cheaper ones you can get maybe at Ulu Tiram matured housing area.
