Anyone bought shares today, after DJIA lowsai last night?

SIA finally went below my target entry price BUT...

It's true after all, time & time again. Warren Buffett's very simple rule: BUY when people are bearish, and sell when people are bullish - is very, very hard to actually do.

Lucky chap. Super long weekend break.

Why difficult? As high income single, You should have spare cash for the share. I wish I have the spare cash to buy share.

Can't shake the fear from the back of my mind that... best case: I can wait for the market to go lower and buy cheaper (ie. lost profits) to worst case: I buy now and the market goes lower by a lot (ie. the current recession fears are true) and I get stuck holding some really overpriced shares for the next few years. And if I cut loss, it's still a significant loss.

On the other hand if I sit back and wait for the market to recover (hoping to jump on while it's on the way up)... like in March 09, then the market can go up so fast that I'd never jump in, waiting for a better entry point.

Anyway, this is not "spare" cash. This is cash that needs to work.

I heard from my cousin who is now working in Singapore that there are more and more Mainland Chinese who come and are willing to take up jobs with less pay.

My question is: aside from being hardworking, are they really bright and competitive?

And can we tell them at first sight (from the way they dress or talk perhaps) that they are Mainland Chinese? tongue.gif Or to be more specific, do they assimilate well into the society?

based on my experience in school.. those ah tiongs are darn GOOD. easily own other students (like me) esp sporeans academically.

i dont think most of the tiongs can actually blend into the society well.. they usually mix with their own people and many of them are arrogant (guai lan because they excel in everything).

yes, you can easily tell from their appearance or accent on first look.

just my perception.

Yo, I hope the market will continue to drop sharply so that I can enter to grab all cheap potential stocks.

anybody can share experience working at tuas and staying at Gelang Patah? How long is the average commute like, and are there occasional jams at customs side when going home? Silly new thumbprint scanner can ruin a perfectly good day.

Asking as I am considering to move there and get my own foreveralone place.

Hi Sean,

I experienced the same like yours during 08/09 crisis. Therefore, I would like to share what I have learnt from my past trading/investment experience. For me, I would also set an entry price for my target counters base on some fundamental analysis. After that, I think go in by batch to average down could minimise the risk to really pay for overpriced shares.

Just my 2 cents
