Honestly I think it's just everyone overreacting. You know lah Malaysians super sensitive, everything also link back to race. My opinion is that the message of the ads was sincere, it's just the execution that they screwed up on.
I don't really remember what job offer you got, it's just an internship kind of thing right (that's why the TEP instead of EP)? At the risk of sounding like an as$hole, HR and the Hiring Manager might not really have much interest in vigorously pursuing your case with MOM ... since after all you're 'just an intern.'
What on earth are you babbling about. It's well known that SG has some of the lowest income taxes anywhere. If you hadn't decided to leave after only 3 months then you would have been taxed at resident rates also what. And the house deposit ... you signed a one year lease, didn't you? So you expect in this world that you can happily break contracts as and when you please without penalty?
try call up this guy Willy 9824 4469, he's the agent who handled my rental. we did all the formalities with IPA only, after got EP card then gave a copy to him/landlord to give HDB.

yes. I am applying for internship placement.
But after my 4 months internship placement, I am graduating and can directly continue to work as permanent position after that.
The company is aware of that and the hiring manager has mentioned that will monitor my performance during the 4 months and will consider to continuing hire me as permanent after i complete my intern.
So, I think i am not basically "just an intern".
I am intern who able to continue as permanent after 4 months.
So from company point of view, they not rugi isnt it? instead, they untung cz considering that they can pay me cheap salary for 4 months intern, then only take me as permanent. or they can kick me out directly after 4 months if i cant perform.
So what's the down side that the company consider?
I dont understand why the HR seems like so irresponsible in my case.
Probably should follw forummers advice, write an email or call up the hiring manager to draw his attention on my case.

Please do not assume that the HR personnel had cheated you as based on your non factual findings. If you insist on calling the hiring manager, just explain to him that your application had got rejected, please consult him whether he can help or not but dont mentioned the HR cheat on you because what if it is not and before you work as a permanent staffs, you already starting to accuse and finger pointing for things that you not 100% sure.

What I'm saying is that now that you've run into complications with your TEP, the company now needs to conside:, "do I really want to go through all the effort of vigorously following up with MOM just for an intern who I might not even convert to a permanent staff after 4 months."

I don't want to rain on your parade, but based on the company's actions thus far, isn't their answer to the above question quite obvious?

what i did is email the HR personnel in charge of my case,
ask her to help me to check with MOM of reason being rejected and update me as soon.
In a very nice way and nice manner.
Did not complain nor calling the hiring manager nor the HR manager.
Aiz..... hopefully she will treat me in a nice way too and faster get back to me for 2nd appeal.

To me, it was a conscious decision to cast a Chinese into the role of the protagonist, and then flash all the stereotypical messages: Don't be loud, don't be greedy, don't eat etc etc. Then they show the Malays as having perfect behaviour, and flash: "Be like them". And then have 3 Malay hosts at the end telling (presumably) the Chinese to "respect Ramadan ie. respect "them/Malays/Islam"". The ad to me, is simply the same sort of "I'm your tuan, and you'll fxking like it" rubbish as in BTN's (Biro Tata Negara) syllabus, but with background music and ketupat.

True, I might reading too much into the ad... but with UMNO Youth, Perkasa, the Mamaks, the Mufti of Perak etc constantly pushing to expand the limits of so-called Malay rights - non-Malays do not have the luxury of being timid and accommodating.

I know it's Ramadan, but I'll eat if I want to.

Nope. I didnt scold her.
Today in the phone call, i verified with her whether it is true or not that the appeal is rejected.
And then she asked me whether i can apply permit myself, i told her nicely that i cant.
And at the end of the call, she said that she will help me to call up MOM again and hopefully can update me by this week.
I am absolutely very frustrated but i didnt scold her. Somemore i said thank you to her at the end.
I am thinking of wana called up the HR manager or hiring manager to draw their attention.
Btw, i am also wondering is it possible  the HR tipu me that she has appealed while she didnt help me to appeal?
cz she said rejected but i cant see in EPonline.

Allow me to indulge in some bashing wink.gif

1) You speak as though you have the explicit right to work in Singapore and all others, such as your hiring manager/HR/MOM should "assist" you to get the relevant pass here.... Hello....you're a foreigner....no different from all the China and Indian people (well educated with degree and willing to work for peanuts btw) who came by the dozens to SG for a better future. Some (i was told) were willing to even absorb the EP/Work permit charges. So the question is what makes you so "special?"

2) You mentioned that you were an "intern" to be converted to permanant and that the company should benefit by hiring you...SAYS WHO??? Like I said there are thousands upon thousands of new entry i.e. people from China/India/even Europeans all with experience or fresh from University willing to work for less than your current pay and harder than you...

3) He explicitly told you to try applying EP/WP for yourself. So you can either 1) Apply yourself 2) Forget about it and move on. It has been made as clear as crystal.

4) no need for your HR to tipu-tipu. Yr a fresh grad with 4 months intern experience. Yr a dime a dozen.... (see reason 1)

Bottom line is this ain't your country. Your a foreigner. They do NOT care about you at all...either you accept that fact and work around it or you balik negara sendiri.....No loss for them at all....

Just something to share about this intern thing ..

I did my intern with Panasonic in Shah Alam Malaysia, and that was after sending over 60 applications for internship. I got only 2 replies who are willing to take me in. So from what I found out, many companies don't like internship attachment. As panasonic have their corporate social responsibility plans.. they take in interns every year. I'm very glad that I join them ...

And then when I join, there were already 2 interns there. Feedback I get from the colleagues working there, we are just wasting their time. They need to spend additional time to show us what is this and what is that and we don't really add into their productivity. Probably they spend few weeks to a month to get us going... but then another month or so, we will be leaving the company.

So in fact it could be a waste of time for them. The benefits that they get are not so significant.

Probably the company doesn't want you. They just don't have the guts to tell you directly. So blame MOM rejected. My two sense. wink.gif

Move on and apply for a different company. Don't be a pain in the arse. You aren't citizen. So don't be too demanding. Trust me, you don't want to get yourself black listed with MOM. smile.gif

One word, Malaysia is hopeless....

I assume we as Malaysians working in Singapore will never ever return to Malaysia to work again seeing this kind of bullshits and inequality among the minorities happening in Malaysia every now and then.

I feel that even I am a foreigner in Singapore, I was being treated even better than I was in Malaysia as a Malaysian.

That is why it is CSR. From workers point of view, your observation or the feedback you receive is right.

Usually MOM will not give reason for rejection. This practice of not giving reason for rejection is to prevent employers and prospective employees from artificially adjusting the application details in their favor and resubmit it again.
MOM will not reject you because of lack of documentation like SPM cert etc.. because to them, the lack of documentation is very trivial and if needed, MOM will ask you to show them the originals after they've given you an "in-principle approval".

Reason for rejection can either be:
1) Your salary or age does not meet the requirement for a TEP.
2) You graduated from an unrecognized university or your qualification is not good enough.
3) Company has reached its maximum quota for hiring foreigners.
4) The reason/excuse, the company has stated to MOM, for hiring you is not good enough.

Unless the employer has forgotten to mention that you're a first class honours student from Oxford during the initial application, an appeal will usually always end up rejected.

Most employers, especially mine, knows that appealing will ALWAYS end up reject so they usually make no effort to do it.

Time to move on, apply elsewhere.
