very true. actually depend individual needs.
ops sorry. then is

RM 60 / 500km = RM 0.12/km  drool.gif
When talking about fuel consumption always use L/100km or km/L. Never use currency as you cant make comparisons based on that. Plus the driving speed on the highway is also important. I think he was driving from 90kmph above.

The K5's fuel consumption at 110kmph is about 8-9L/100km which adds up to only RM40-45 for a 500km journey. But considering driving conditions, its probably about RM 50-55 in reality.

RM 55 / 500km = 0.11 per km? sure or not

I find it hard to believe too. 6,3l/100 km is possible for D segment cars (usually diesel though), but you'd need a gearbox that makes sure you can travel at low rpm. With a 4 speed that is kind of hard (but not impossible, I guess).

In any case I used to do around 7-8l/100 km in the C segment Xsara, driving around 130-140. Bigger car, but driven slower... yeah, might be possible.

Sorry at 9L/100km, i would consume 45L or RM 85 which works out to be RM0.17 per km in 100% highway driving at 110kmph.

In my first full tank (79L), i got about 730km. That was in 50-50 highway driving at 140kmph and town driving. This works out to be about 11L/100km.

The only thing i cant seem to understand till now is how i still manage to fill 79L of fuel in a tank thats supposedly only 70L according to the manual. I know it will be usually slightly more, but 9L more?? shocking.gif

Anyway, I went to look at both Camry and the Passat again. Took another test drive with the Passat. Wife still prefers the comfort of the Camry but is totally fine with the Passat.

The dealer is going to take a look at my car tomorrow, get the value and then I'll put my booking for the Passat if the price is right.

You may be right. But looking at the Camry, I already feel ripped off. If I buy that, I may end up hating the car itself. And even worse, UMW Toyota is just going to continue offering lame specs at ridiculous prices because the demand is still there.

Damned if I do, and damned if I don't tongue.gif

u wanna take a look at lexus hybrid? around that price too.

79L of fuel? Then I think this K5 fuel tank is bigger than what the spec listed, is measure carefully, adde those free play and the hose that lead from the inlet to the tank, it wil not exceed 2-3 L, but a 9L is a bit exaggerated.

That seems quite unlikely.

However, I have gotten 15.5 km/l before on pure highway driving (mostly cruising at 110 km/h). This is with the previous model Camry 2.4.

Perhaps there is a reserve tank amount?

For my Camry, from long term observation:
1. Just when the fuel warning light comes on ~ 54L
2. If drive until the estimator says 0km left ~ 57L
3. Drive past that for another 70-80km, max I've filled ~ 63L

Yes i think the tank is a 80L tank. Cuz when i filled 79L, it wasnt like my car had run out of fuel. There was still balance. But the Optima tank has a long head so Kia possibly didnt take this into account when claiming the 70L capacity of the tank.

Camry tank is also 70L right?

I drove past the Toyota TTDI showroom earlier and despite the new launch of the facelift Vios and new gen Camry, it was completely EMPTY. Ive never seen this showroom empty on weekends. Last week when i passed there were 2 ppl inside.

I think more and more ppl are actually realising that Toyota has been taking them for a ride with their current batch of cars. Would be interesting to see their sales statistics for June/July. But im sure many uncles would stillopt for the new Camry if they are not tech savvy and do not bother to sample whats out there in the market nowadays.

I thin there should be a new movement: ABT ( Asalkan Bukan Toyota). rclxms.gif

What im saying is that most tanks when they state a certain amount, you can usually fill about 2-3L more. But in this case ive filled 9L more and even then the tank wasnt empty. So i think the Kia Optima tank itself is actually >75L.
