That price, is twice my current rental, also in TTS5. Talk about cutting throat. But no choice also. Hard to find what.
*
TJJ, is your room a single room with attached bathroom and aircon? His room is and is quite big, about 230 sq ft. Is TTS5 within walking distance to uni? Any other feedback about the area?

TTS5 is quite close, walking distance to the bridge to uni. Lots of students around the area with family homes too. It's why everybody's looking for a room near campus in TTS5... convenience.

When will you be arriving in Malaysia?  I'll be on campus on the 15th, exactly one week from now.
*
I'm already living here for now. Not sure when I'll check in. Perhaps around 15th to 19th. (Before the registration)

where you from?

Usually, engineering student will find themselves internships to do. Or else you could just go back to your home country (if you have the money for the air ticket). The summer of the university is dead, very dead. Only very few students are there to study and car park is never half-filled. Little to zero activity if you ask me.
*
but activity back home is in the minus cry.gif
and are internships possible in the first yr itself ???

Might be harder to find, but it is definitely possible. But I need to tell you local companies tend to prefer locals though.
Even then, you may try to apply for research assistantship conducted in the university itself. Funding has been a lot less nowadays but you may still do something without allowance.

Oh yea, regarding the exams. I understand that Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics for Mechies hold 20 credit each, so the rest of the papers will be 10 each right? Anyone can tell me how does this system work cuz I never had any experience in British education system other than SPM.

And urm, the final papers for first semester, will it only be the 2 10credit paper in january and next May 6 papers?

Yes. 20 credits for your first semester. A bloody 100 credits for your second year.
And it's Thermo-fluid (known as ONE module) contains 20 credits, conducted across 2 semesters.
You still have Solid, Material and Design, 3 more 20 credits year-long module.
Enjoy!

BTW, I went through a different system, no bloody stuff like that.

Misconception. It's just 3 years worth of material.
Lazy to explain. But our 3 years are others' people 2nd to 4th year. Their 1st year is A-level mostly.

LOL it's isn't as scary as you think. Basically we take modules to satisfy a certain credit hour. For UNMC, we need to fullfil 120 credit hours. Normally, year-long modules are worth 20, while half year modules are worth 10.

Take year 1 for example.

Year long modules:
1) Thermo-fluid
2) Design and manufacture
3) Electromechanical Systems
4) Intro to Materials

half-year modules:
1) Maths 1
2) Maths 2
3) Mechanics of Solids
4) Professional Studies

If you add them up, you will have 120 credits (4*20 + 4*10 = 80 + 40 = 120).
So, you have 80 credits that you need to work for throughout the year, and 20 for each semester. How you put the numbers is up to you. I just think of it as 4 subs that I need to study for the whole year, and 4 that I spend half a year on each.

About that 4 years thing. I guess the front page has enough reading material on that.

Like that looks better, although your textbook thing might be overlooked now.
Maybe add some words to indicate it's about the Malaysia campus? (Okay okay, I ask too much, but I am thinking whether people will misunderstand it's about the accommodation in the city of Nottingham instead.
