Hello guys, newbie here.
So, I'll be urm, well, studying Mechanical Engineering, Year 1 at UNMC, and urm, I'm just curious about the timetable and grouping and residence and a lot more. So I'm just gonna list them here, and hope that you jolly good fellas will answer my questions ^^ thank you in advance

1. I got the offer for accomodation at Tioman Hall. It says to print out the email and bring it to them with the payment when I'm moving in, and its supposed to be 17th for the first day of moving in. Is there anything else that I need to bring, other than myself and my stuffs? Any documents that they did not list which I'm supposed to bring?

2. Registration for the study on 20th is just bringing the unconditional form, documents like certificates and money only right? Anything else? I saw someone saying something about medical check up...... Now I'm kinda worried cuz' I didn't know that we need one to enrol into UNMC. Any other documents?

3. Tioman Hall will be where I'm staying later. So urm, I got the single ensuited bathroom or something. Its 2 rooms sharing 1 toilet. Question is, can I cook over there? Is there any problems with pest? INTERNET? I heard its going to be very slow over there. So can I like, get other internet package over there and how much would it cost cuz' they never did mention it on the website.

4. I'm going to do Mechanical Engineering, year 1 as stated before... I did 2 years of Mech Eng in University of Toronto, before concluding that Canada isn't for me... So, question is, will the syllabus be a lot different? I've read the courses name, and it seems vaguely similar to the ones I did there, so it shouldn't differ much right? I mean, math is math, dynamics is dynamics, shouldn't be much difference in the syllabus right?

5. Portal will have to wait till I'm registered since I don't have any info. I'll got those infos during registration eh?

So....I know I wrote a lot, and I hope you can answer them. Another thing is, basically, I just have to rot at home until 17th, bring the email sent by residence, my stuffs, payment and move in. Then spend a few more days rotting and getting to know people until 20th, register, bring the unconditional offer letter, certificates, payment and get to meet seniors, and wait for classes to begin. That's basically everything right?

Oh btw, I'm wondering if any seniors from Mechanical Engineering is selling any textbooks for the new sem, and if they are relevant cuz' I understand that the uni changes the textbook yearly, same thing but different edition, which kinda messed up the whole numbering, so just wondering if they're still relevant and usable.

Thanks for the reply. I did tell Dr Yap about it, but he had to say no cuz I didnt manage to do thermo and fluid yet, and he said these 2 courses will be BLOODY HARD, and he definitely recommended that i take a step back, and start all over again. But looking at the bright side, its okay though. Guess i will have more time to focus on those 2 killer subjects.

Regarding the internet, so urm, just gotta tell the gold diggers that i want faster internet right? any idea where i can find the package cuz' i dont seem to be able to find anything about it, only brochures without much information.

I feel like a noob now.... Google search mia skill EPIC FAIL..... Thanks for the info ^^

Just wondering how many students will there be per class? A big class will definitely sucks cuz' there's always gonna be people who can't keep their mouth shut.
Let's hope there's no emo lecturers who leave the lecture hall when he/she is being ignored~~

Also anyone can tell me more about the residence? I got Tioman Hall, and I'm just wondering how many floors there are. And the common room gonna be 1 per whole floor?

Cleanliness of the residence too. Do we have to set appointment for cleaner to come?

Oh yea, regarding the exams. I understand that Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics for Mechies hold 20 credit each, so the rest of the papers will be 10 each right? Anyone can tell me how does this system work cuz I never had any experience in British education system other than SPM.

And urm, the final papers for first semester, will it only be the 2 10credit paper in january and next May 6 papers?

Damn........................ That's.......bullshit...............ARGH!!!! 100 credits for 2nd sem.......... Ima lost my hair soon....already botaking.....lol......

But ye, so its gonna be really compact then.... 4 years worth of material cramped into 3 years.... GG......

Hmmmm, I supposed its true, cuz Thermo is only done during 2nd years in most US and Canadian uni......

Urm, I just saw a green coloured form. It says that I can apply for exemption from Malaysian Studies, Bahasa Kebangsaan and Moral Studies, which I already completed. However, the code for moral and the malaysian studies are different from what I had. Mine was MP1133 while the form has the MP2233. Same thing?

Urm, how do I get added into the Mechies FB group? Wanna see who's gonna be in my class later =P

3. Need to bring cheque? Cuz like I sent them a cheque before, which includes advanced rental for September, which sucks cuz' we're moving in on 17th yet have to pay the full amount. (BTW wondering how we pay the rent? cash monthly can ar?) And the fact that the 2 monthly deposit that we paid cannot be used to offset the monthly rent @_@ Jiak lui kaw kaw lor

Registration:
1. Unconditional offer letter
2. Certificates (Ori copies for reference)
3. Cheque

No lenglui T-T engineering seems to be plagued with the no leng lui disease, regardless which part of the world your at

checking into residence next saturday. Man i'll never get to use the pool..... cant swim T-T at least got the gym. Anyone knows how well equipped is the gym?
