The things is right.. I think Seniors would only buy what the department recommended. And undeniably, internet has much more wider choice drool.gif

Amazon would usually be my last resort for books, their shipping fee could be quite high sometimes.

It's past year.. freely available.

Walau, you planning to buy every single book that's related to your course? blink.gif

Better still, use up your library borrow quota and grab 8 of them back every 3 weeks. You still get to change the books shall you hate one.

Personally, for any newcomers, just grab the on-campus accommodation. It's really convenient and a great start for you to get more familiarised with the area. You are not going to do your studies here for 1 year, it's at least a solid 3 years so you still have plenty of chances to do off-campus. But whichever the way, enjoy on-campus while you can.

I once sent a reply mail to him after he kept on changing instruction about our lab report. The reply mail is purposely "reply to all", all same batch read it, and it's mostly made up of wordings used by him.
What I find him lacking is the respect towards students. He thinks that students shall never disobey him. That's what I see in him.

There's another time when he asked me out to read out tutorial question (in an attempt to put me into shame?). So, what I did is some extreme twisting of mic, and speak so so so so closely to the mic. His face darkened at once and rushed over to bend my mic away. Wahahaha, I happy what!

DAMN Everyone of us in the class would want to try that if given the chance. I'm so glad the sentiment is common among all Mech Eng-ers.

They are as strict as our nation's law enforcers!!!

(honestly, I don't know.. but I doubt they'll enforce it on us, unless there are substantial monetary reward (charging you for that printer you brought in).. we're university students for god sake

If you're talking about the bus requiring a card, I've got no idea since I've never boarded one.....

But never in my uni life did I ever present my student card to any guards..

Well, I do, when I drive a car without the sticker, flashing it is the easiest and fastest way to get through them. Hate it that they raise their hands according the the price of the car itself.
As for the bus, rules say student ID and coupon must be shown, but I don't think that's quite enforced strictly. Back in my Year 1, I boarded one night one that the guards came up checking and ask everyone to flash their IDs though.

2 days back i got an e-mail saying i was allotted a single shared ensuite bathroom..... but after the payment for confirmation yesterday, they sent me an email saying that my room no. was I5A72D ....... if the 'D' at the end is what u say it means, then have i been given a single room in the 5 bedroom apartment thing????  and do u think i should contact them enquiring about this?? icon_question.gif
*
I think it is alright for you to play dumb and ask them about the the 'secret code'. Be specific that you want to know what each alphabet represents. You can also ask them clarify again if yours is ensuite or not, claiming that it's easy to get confused between the two. A lot a lot of ways to find out.

thnxx for that!!! i'll contact them as soon as i can ....... btw do u know whether minors are allowed to undertake part time employment through the university??? i have taken the BEng/MEng in mechanical engineering this sep but i just turned 17 and was wondering if i could start working over there since the extra $cash$ would be of great help........i am an international student by the way
*
You should contact International Office for more information. I am a local and the day I join the university I am already 18 so I wouldn't have known anything in your case. But I am not convinced that there are plenty of on-campus jobs.

Just like what TJJ said.. given that the location of Nottingham, I doubt there will be many jobs available. Moreover, if you're looking for part time job outside the university, you'll be facing a huge transport problem. First you live in campus hall. Second, although the bus service may not able to accommodate your working hours. Thirdly, there aren't many jobs in Semenyih either... it's really a small humble town
