returning students only need to pay tuition fees no need register anymore

why do most people stay on campus? is it a really long drive? i live in bangsar and was thinking of commuting there everyday - is it worth it or will petrol and time come up to the same price as renting a place there? it is really quite expensive

I don't think it's viable for daily commute between Bangsar and Nottingham. It's probably a solid 1-hour drive+-15 minutes depending on traffic. And, imagine yourself having a group assignment and you need to do discussion until late night, imagine you have a report to rush and you see yourself finishing by 3-4am (and you need certain software in the uni to do it). If it's Kajang, or even Serdang, it's still doable. Bangsar, probably not.

So do I pay my cheque on registration day or do i bring the payment receipt on that day

Hi all! i'm coming for sept intake in Msc civil engineering.. anyone else enrolled in the same course?
could any senior provide any feedbacks regarding this course.. anything will do..

i'll will be staying at TTS7.. would appreciate any advice regarding...
1. Off-campus accommodation, particularly security issues.
2. Information on daily shuttle bus to/from the uni and TTS7.

Guys, I have been allocated a single ensuite room.. If anyone could tell me what sort of furniture I can expect that would be great..
Also after I got my accommodation offer, I paid all the deposits and advances and all and sent it in, still haven't heard back from the uni confirming my payment.. Is that normal?

Payment receipt? I thought you only get a receipt after you paid something. I think most people pay on the registration day, where you proceed to make your student ID as well based on the receipt - at least true during my batch.

I think is a pretty new course, but should be similar to the 4th year of MEng, not sure if we have active civil engineering students here though. While you'll have your classes with the MEng students, I am not sure if there will be same students doing the same course since it's new.

Security issue is never reassuring here (all TTS), but common sense helps a lot. Just remember to lock your door, use more than one lock for main door, always travel in pairs/groups at night etc.
Shuttle bus will stop on the main road only, and thus you'll need to walk to outside if your unit is inside the residential area.


I think that's great. You get table, chair, wardrobe, bed - basically enough for one person's staying. If you paid over the weekend, there's no way they can confirm the payment. Just ask them again (if you haven't) tomorrow, during their working day.

I paid on a friday, two weeks ago.. Just a bit worried as the amount was almost 2500 RM and still no acknowledgement lol.. Out of curiosity, is it a single bed or double bed? Thanks for the help

I dont know the exact amount I have to pay after the HAS>Is it minus RM1000 from the totals.Then from there reduce 25% and pay the remaining?I pay the cheque on registration day to the office?

X * 0.75 - 1000 = what you need to pay, for X being the full amount of tuition fee

i'm also wondering why Msc is classified under postgraduate while MEng under undergraduate.
Both courses have similar modules but some subjects covered by MSc is not covered by MEng (e.g. earthquake engineering).
Nevertheless MSc has not been accredited by the Board of Engineers Malaysia, unlike MEng.
just wondering if theres any difference in level between the two titles, as in which one is more highly regarded.

i also need to ask about the grading system for both titles.. (CGPA based, etc)..
not clear about british system as i come from an australian uni background.

Students take MEng right after their A-Level and it takes 4 years to complete - much like an undergraduate BEng you have from an Australian university. They cover some of the modules (especially in 4th year) in MSc and thus is conferred a Master's at the end of their courses. That being said, it's not as research intensive as an MSc as it doesn't involve a summer semester solely dedicated for a research project worth 60 credits.

I can't say which is more highly regarded. MEng is more straight forward and with the inclusion of internship, it's said to geared more towards industry while MSc more towards research and academia. There will be people who argue MSc is better than MEng simply it's a postgraduate degree though.

Accreditation is probably a matter of time as the course is new, and if there's no new students graduating from it, the board cannot gauge how good is the course to approve accreditation.

Grading system is based on average. If you manage an average above certain mark, you'll be awarded a Master's with distinction instead of just Master's.

Anyone knows how far is it from SZB (Subang Airport) to the school?

i don't drive xD, probably take taxi, lol, they don't provide airport pickup there O_O
