Hi everyone smile.gif I registered to this forum just to post here! xD

I'm from Indonesia and I'm joining foundation in engineering this September, nice to see a thread like this. I learnt a lot from here.

Are there Indonesian students there?

They are quite a number of Indonesian students here. Don't worry about feeling alienated. Often the time I could overhear some conversation being done in Indonesian-style Hokkien which I can recognise it being Hokkien, but never get to understand a thing about it.

Thank you for the reply biggrin.gif
Oh, Indonesian-style Hokkien? They must be from Medan, haha xD

I've applied for foundation in engineering, but still haven't got any reply, it's been like three weeks already sad.gif

A few days ago I email the head of admissions, she said already receive the application form, but until now still no news :| In their website it's stated that application processing will only take 2 working weeks, but now already three weeks!

어떻게?!?!?!?!?!

Be patient. It's peak season for the admission people right now as a lot a lot of applications are coming in. Expect some delay I would say. Maybe you can email them again after a week of last heard from them (which is 'a few days ago').
*
By a few days ago I mean on Monday, haha.. Well let me wait for another week :/.
Anyway, besides continuing in UoN after I finish my foundation, can I go somewhere else?

If going elsewhere is within your plan, why do you want to get yourself into the foundation programme in the first place?
*
Long story short, I don't know what to do for a year.

I'm Indonesian, and I just finished my high school (Grade 12) last April. I've applied to INHolland Hogeschool (in the Netherlands) but I cancelled my application because time is not on my side (It takes a few months to apply there!). I'm going to study aeronautical engineering. Because they only have intakes for September, I've decided to apply for Holland again next year (for September 2013), so then I don't have anything to do for a year :\ (Take note that INHolland accepts my SMA UAN diploma). My education agent recommends me to join foundation for engineering, just to strengthen my mathematics and physics.

Well, so, yeah, that's my story :\

Well, if you have the money, by all mean do that. But, with a foundation in Nottingham Malaysia, you can probably hop around institutions within Malaysia if you have a good score, but I don't see it being useful anywhere outside of Malaysia (perhaps except the Nottingham UK).

I am unsure what is the equivalent to your SMA UAN diploma. Foundation here is A-Level equivalent (12th year of studies). If your diploma is equivalent to A-Level, I suppose things you learn here may not be a lot.
*
Who knows I'll end up in Nottingham UK? tongue.gif

SMA UAN is A-Level equivalent (12 years), but it is waaaaaay easier than A-Levels! (I studied both, but ended up NOT doing A-Levels). Even to enter Nottingham, Indonesian students possessing the SMA UAN need to do foundations first.

They responded to you quite fast... Every time I send an email to ask regarding the status of my application, they will give me this email;

Dear <insert name>,

This is to inform you that we have received your  result. Hope to get back to you by next week.

Thank you.

Every single time hahaha... I submitted my application end of June if I remember correctly.
*
OH MY GOD, I now realize that I am not alone!
I always bother their application office by always emailing them every week and that's what I always get that :\
I submitted my application early June!! At first I thought they need to verify my diploma scores (as I am from Indonesia) so it would take a bit longer, but now it's already too long!!

Of course not!!! that was not even one among my choices. First choice was the Single ensuite bathroom with AC which I did not get even though I  have sent an email  to the accommodation department requesting them for that room 1 month ago. They told me not to worry they would consider my request but clearly that's not the case!!!!  mad.gif
  vmad.gif  vmad.gif

Should I send them another email for a change of room?? they dont seem to be quite friendly these people!
*
OMG now I'm worried about that :| I want single room too, I don't like sharing rooms with anyone :|
Just curious, are you Malaysian or an International student?

Anyone here staying in EduSquare? Considering their Standard B Rooms as it is cheaper than on-campus. How far is it from the campus?

oh my. I only applied for it yesterday. Actually I called them up yesterday and they told me within 10 days they will give me a reply. I really need a reply as soon as possible because I might want to consider monash.
*
don't trust the "give u reply in 10 days", they're very slow on this. mine took something like, a month or two.

I think the on-campus accommodation is full already, at least for the female as one of my friends got rejected for that reason. For the male, keep trying still? Else, start to prepare to look for off-campus.

Maybe some of you can make a phone call to confirm if there is still any availability.
*
cilaka.. everything done just have to settle accommodation!!

Just wondering, anyone here transferred to Nottingham Ningbo? Because I never read anything about Nottingham Ningbo here, everyone's transferring to the UK campus xD.
I wanna know more about Nottingham Ningbo, what's the place like, and stuffs like that.
