Fr wat i understand, kia has been trying to shed the "cheap sh*t" image n producing better quality cars. I went to c the k5 again n i find the built quality impressive. Change my perception immediately.
Dun think they r in tt league of producing luxury cars yet. Its a pricing strategy, camry n accord is due for replacement. K5 is a 2010 model. They know once T&H launch, their price will b higher. I believe naza is banking on tt rational.

508's engine noise is fairly better insulated than K5.

225/45/R18 is definitely going to make your feel hard bumps on the road, compare to 508's 235/45.

One pays less road tax than the other. One has better torque than the other. One pays less 20k than the other.
Both will share the same servicing pain...ahhaaha..

All depends on how buyer sees it.

Even my father Sorento 2.4 is very stable.... Expect the Optima to be better due to lower ride height....

Yes i've test drive it.... Very stable... As an owner of Honda Accord 2.4 too, my father is amazed by this Optima...

Thats said it all about Malaysia motoring industry & the government failure isnt it. 1 tiny neighbour country capable of offering their citizen incentive. RM143k thats Audi, Merc, BMW territory. Malaysia consumers really are suckers arent we.

Well lads, venting your anger here won't do you any good hmm.gif

Just to add salt to the wound..... the Camaro (Bumblebee) cost like RM400K+ in Bolehland and it only costs a measly USD20K+(RM80K) in the US!

Anyway, Election is just around the corner, do the right thing! bruce.gif

I think spec wise everybody here can read about it online.

What we would really like to know more about is road handling, rear suspension comfort, ability to absorb bumps/potholes, cornering stability, fuel consumption, is it sluggish on initial acceleration, NVH at high speeds, wind noise, etc.

btw, can you tell me what is the RPM at 110kmph? I forgot to see when i test drove last.
Got some info bout the upcoming Toyota Camry 2.0L. 146Hp and 190Nm torque. The new Optima churns out 163Hp and 198Nm torque. The Optima is also 19mm longer with 20mm longer wheelbase compared to the Camry.

Pretty pathetic figures for a new generation Camry. Almost no difference from current model. Aiya!

Btw, just noticed that the Optima and Forte 2.0L have different engines. Thought they were the same. The Forte 2.0L churns out 154Hp and 194Nm torque only but with a lighter body.

The one in the Forte is the single CVVT (intake side only) while the one in both the Sonata and Optima is a dual CVVT (intake and exhaust). That's the only difference.

Ok makes sense then. So that means fuel consumption should be better right? Isnt the CVVT similar to the one on the Sylphy and Altis 2.0V?

Never ever judge a car by its paper specs. K5 might hv better looking specs on paper but does it perform well in real life? I doubt so

The paper specs will clearly tell you about the engine performance. From the kerb weight, hp and torque you can easily know just how powerful the car will be in real. Drivability & handling cant be determined by specs and everybody knows that.

Btw, check my earlier replies. I have tested the Kia Optima and i was impressed. Dont forget im a die hard Toyota man so for me to say im impressed speaks volumes bout the Optima. biggrin.gif

Based on ur initial test drive, which part of the power band would u improve bcoz lacking? Lo, mid or hi.

Fyi, saw a silver k5 on the road today. Wwf plate. Stunning esp wif the bright led drls.
