Hey guys, I know some of u may find me irritating, but I'll say, may be this is a good survey for everyone..

If u r a 25yr old, single guy,  daily routine is driving car to work plus to shop etc and may be some long trip during holidays, and ur budget allows (of course with some loan too), which would u choose? optima or 508?

And, does optima comes with rear windscreen shade? which I doubt..
*
nop.. optima doesnt come with rear windscreen sheet.. btw, i always c ppl comparing this 2 cars.. can someone attach the 508 brochure at here.. i wanna have a look at it... cos Peugeot Msia site is down currently..

Exactly, camry gave big 13k discount thats why. Meanwhile sonata only 7k discount for 2011 model...
*
the difference is only 5k if compared with camry G. so you are trying to say k5 not worth the 5k?

Sorry I dont know y, it showed upload complete, but somehow doesnt show up after posting the reply.. sad.gif

I just want to make a note, for point 23 mentioned by cybermaster... 508 does NOT come with reverse parking camera.. sad.gif

And qouting member name "sleepy" from 508 forum:

"Errm, well additional features of 508 over K5 from my own observation:

-Better quality interior material (soft touch material wise)
-Dynamic headlights
-HUD
-All 4 doors has sensors (instead of physical buttons) for keyless entry
-4 zone airconditioning
-4x automatic windows with anti-pinch
-Privacy shades for rear passenger
-7" multimedia LCD (for telephony, PDC, GPS <--no malaysian map though)
-Car telephony system actually syncs all contacts into the car, instead of mere hands-free function.
-No horse-shoe-shaped hinge on the bootlid to crush your luggage
-Front parking sensors
-Lights to illuminate the car's surrounding (quite handy so you dont step into puddle of water in darker streets)
-Both front seats are automatic
-Boot release button
-Felt material around wheel arch for better noise-insulation (not sure K5 has this?)
-Fully covered under-carriage (for better noise insulation, not sure K5 has this?)
-Seatbelt reminder for all seats (not sure K5 has this?)
-Automatic parking brakes (not sure K5 has this?)
-Air-cond vents for rear passenger footwell.

K5 over 508

-Sunroof (err not sure if this is useful in malaysian weathers though)
-Reverse camera
-Advanced suspension setup
-Far more attractive styling
-Memory seat for driver
-Cooled glovebox
-6 slot CD-player

This is all that I can get straight out of my head. I could've missed more features on the K5, as I've only visited the showroom for once, where as I've been driving the 508 for almost 6 months.

The 508 is not without faults though. I dont like:
-Small glovebox space. Good enough to store only 2x 500ml bottles
-Small storage compartment under the center arm rest (only big enough for SmartTag )
-Front cupholders. If you put in a cup/bottle, it will block the LCD screen. And the air-cond vents are blowing directly at it. Hot drinks become cold, and cold drinks remain cool. Maybe peugeot's own drinks chilling function?
-Spare tyre in the boot is not fasten with a bolt. Instead it's fasten with a belt? Going through seriously uneven road, you can sometimes hear the tyre bumping around
-Anti-theft bolt on the wheel is more of a hassle than anything else"

Bro, read what i posed carefully. I didnt say rear parking camera. I said 'visual display' means there's a display on the multi function screen but its not a camera.

That light only appears during startup to show that ESP is functioning. What im asking about is does the light come on when the ESP is working to stabilise the car?

Yes i know that ABS braking is totally different. In hard braking, maybe only the ABS & EBD will function while the ESP may remain dormant as it may not be required in that situation. The ESP will only kick in when the system detects loss of traction.
*
Perhaps I need to make myself clear. By activating ESP I mean being in a situation where the ESP goes into action. I didn't mean it lighting up to indicate that it was switched on. I meant while it acted to save my bacon... So the short answer is yes, it lights up on my car.

Even then, "visual sensor" is not the right term. You need to learn how to post properly bro lol...

It's more a sonic or electromagnetic based sensor with visual interface.

Its called a visual display and its the official term from the brochure. I dont create my own terminology.

Aiya, if you had replied earlier with "visual display" instead of visual sensor I wouldn't have added my two sen lol. Nonetheless it was a case of typo which you have duly edited. Good on you. Moving on....

why is the K5 is up against 508? i dont get it, both are totally different cars. although the same segment. but both design are like 180 deg opposite of each other.

one is elegant, the other is bold and macho. one is soft and comfortable, the other is dynamic driving. one cost less than 150K the other more than 150K. mana ada sama.

Maybe a camry 2.0G against kia K5, and 508 vs camry 2.0G again? haha, really boring market segments man. luckily it comes with 508 and k5 for discussion.

i know what are the similarities. the buyer loves cars with plenty of cool stuff. the buyer loves naza haha

Capal buruk, you're the hero with a pic. That's precisely what i meant. Not only one side, it happens to all the plastic bits on the steering wheel. They are sharp and badly finished, not even protons have this sort of bad finishing. Shall we write a letter to naza or something?
*
Agree that they are sharp and badly finished. I'm in the support for the letter/complaint

Seems that Sh@rty 5 already explained quite clear on the questions and I agreed with his explanation. I am not related in his business. I am just a happy user of his products and services.

I meeting him again tomorrow for some amendment to get a perfect fit for my rear mat.
I never test drive a 508 but did test drive a 407 before. The spec and price sure is attractive but somehow the build of the car seems flimsy.

Added on April 2, 2012, 12:17 amGuys, bro zrill mentioned that should we have a TT for Kia Optima K5 owner. Can share share exp and group buy some of the common mod?

Yeah. The unlimited mileage warranty is a big bonus for people that travel outstation real often.

You can join the TT if you want. Not necessary to have a K5 to join the fun. We can just chilling.

Check out the latest comparison test from car and driver. Optima rank 3rd from the top 6.

http://www.caranddriver.com/comparisons/20...omparison-tests

Glad to see optima stand out in D-segment cars.

Was comparing some stats about tyres from Tyre Reviews UK. Seems the Michelin Pilot Sport 3 is only ranked at 88% as compared to:

1) Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymetric 2 (94%)
2) Continental Sport Contact 5 (92%)

http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Michelin...Sport-3-PS3.htm

Also, on the Michelin Malaysia website, there is no mention about noise reduction for the PS3. Yes better grip and road holding, but noise is our biggest problem with the Nexen now rite? Also it seems that PS3 wears much faster compared to the Goodyear A2.

Some prices i got from Lim Tayar, Sri Hartamas:

Michelin PS3 - RM 900
Continental SC5 - RM 1050

Both prices for 4 tyres inclusive of balancing & allignment. They dont have Goodyear Asy2.
