Same goes here. mine was off a bit only around 8 to the left... to the left...

JuneSeptember, I did the search around the stearing from your last comment on it. and I found this. Is this the one you referring to? if that is it, then it is sharp. easily can cut your knuckles. that's a very poor finishing on the stearing.

btw, im quite happy with the autocruise response. The agressiveness depends on the the road surface/level anyway. but that's just my liking. probably im not too familiar with this autocruise before.

Capal buruk, you're the hero with a pic. That's precisely what i meant. Not only one side, it happens to all the plastic bits on the steering wheel. They are sharp and badly finished, not even protons have this sort of bad finishing. Shall we write a letter to naza or something?

Guys,

I had another test drive on the Optima during the 1 Utama road show yesterday. I changed the test drive route to include a few trips till the traffic lights before the Penchala tunnel and then return. I did 3 rounds in the Optima. Testing high speeds (reached 135kmph), high revs, cornering at high speeds, hard braking, cornering while braking, etc. We had a full load of ppl.

But only thing lacking is there is no indicator when the ESP has kicked in. This is actually a safety feature in most cars to let the driver know it he has reached the limit of his capabilities and the ESP is now taking over. We need to always remind ourselves that, ESP and all the safety features are not meant to replace safe driving.

btw, RPM at 110kmph is about 2300 right?
*
On my Forte whenever the ESP is activated the ESP indicator comes on briefly. It's that little icon with the car on a slippery road, in yellow. It's also the same icon that appears if I decide to turn ESP off. But you'd have to be really sharp to notice it. Plus, it doesn't come on under normal ABS braking, it only appears when one wheel has lost traction and the car needs to activate independent wheel braking as countermeasure.

Regardless, ESP works in conjunction with ABS/EBD/traction control, which derives its control via the brakes and reduction of torque to the driven wheels. As such, whenever you feel the pulsing of the brakes or hear that characteristic ABS oscillation you know you're in safe hands.

Nonetheless, I agree that ESP can only do so much. If one were to deliberately push the limits without knowing how to recover, is heading for disaster. My mantra is to never go into a corner thinking that ESP will save my bacon.

My car having the same issue but it is not that sharp till it will cause injury. Seems that it is a manufacturing issue during plastic injection process.

Just wondering can those "fine" sand paper smoothen it?

Your 8th test drive? Good to see that you still able to find some goodness in K5 after so many test drive.

Have you contacted the SA that I passed to you previously? He cant get a good price for your Vios?

Added on April 2, 2012, 10:46 amGuys, do you have this issue? I noticed that my stereo system kind of sensitive. E.g. when I am listening to CD and I went through a bump or so, it will "jump" to AM mode.

Anyone having this problem?

That light only appears during startup to show that ESP is functioning. What im asking about is does the light come on when the ESP is working to stabilise the car?

Yes i know that ABS braking is totally different. In hard braking, maybe only the ABS & EBD will function while the ESP may remain dormant as it may not be required in that situation. The ESP will only kick in when the system detects loss of traction.

Car sales statistics for February 2012 just released:

Optima sales jumped from 45 units in Jan to 152 units in Feb while Sonata sales dropped 45% and Nissan Teana sales dropped 37% compared to January. A total of 197 Optima's were sold in the 2 months since its launch.

I think March will be a better month for the Optima. I saw quite a few ppl booking the Optima during the roadshow at 1 Utama yesterday.

I am also quite impressed by the optima at the 1u roadshow. 5 year warranty thrown in is a big bonus.
regarding the sales figures, i assume nissan and hyundai didnt do any stock clearance for their 2011 models ? what was the reason for the huge drop in FEB ?

is there one month that myvi doesnt top the chart ?
I expect the optima sales to increase even more in march, pending of course, on delivery data

oh yeah....i was shocked to see the k5 getting the infinity sound system for MY. Didnt see it when it was reviewed by carbuyer in UK.
only setback to me, is the sedated dash.....very....not exciting.

Thats due to the stock clearance exercise for the current model. Discounts up to RM 13K and many ppl realise that the upcoming Camry is somewhat crap.

Added on April 2, 2012, 2:56 pmHmm... I dont think at this time I can make any decision on which car to get, most prob hav to wait till I test drive both a few times... sad.gif

hmm.. I thought 508 is longer than optima, as it turns out, it is the other way round (but only by a few mm)..

LOL!!! laugh.gif thumbup.gif

But wat I worry is, after a long long journey in a hot sunny day, ya, the AC will take care of most parts of the body, but sometimes esp in leather seats, people do sweat in places where in contact wit the seat.. sometimes u may see someone getting out of the car wit a big wet patch on the back.. laugh.gif

Hey guys, I know some of u may find me irritating, but I'll say, may be this is a good survey for everyone..

If u r a 25yr old, single guy, daily routine is driving car to work plus to shop etc and may be some long trip during holidays, and ur budget allows (of course with some loan too), which would u choose? optima or 508?

And, does optima comes with rear windscreen shade? which I doubt..

Me too, i was keep asking 2.0T to my agent, but the answer was nearly impossible...because if they bring in, market it around 160k or above with KIA logo, he doubt this will work in Malaysia, ai.... sad.gif

If you are only 25, and only choose between Optima and 508, go for Optima, the design suit your age. You are single, why don't go for 2 doors coupe? You are lucky, when i was 25, only civic, camry and accord to choose but you have plenty of options now. rclxms.gif
