QUOTE(tifosi @ Aug 17 2011, 11:32 PM) Just a word of caution, even with the 5X treat points, you are paying USD with AMEX which will have a higher than Visa/Master exchange rate. This is true for Visa/MC as well, so moot point. The most important difference is that Amex charges higher fees and this is passed on by the card issuer to the end user. The weekend rebate plus points is good enough to cover a lot of the differences. Of course if you are frequently using your CC for overseas transactions exceeding say RM5K each time, your calculations on whether the rebate is worth it or not would be quite different than if your foreign transactions are quite rare, less than RM1K and you can wait weekends to do it.

QUOTE(tifosi @ Aug 17 2011, 11:54 PM) So far, all my Paypal I bought with Amex has the same transaction date as to the day I purchase it. But to be safe, I always buy it on a Saturday night hmm then i can considered linking my amex card wif paypal acc in future although no paypal a/c been created yet

If yes, may I know how? Unfortunately you can't, I assuming it was charged to your Master card? If you have above 10000 points, you can use that 10,000 pts to waive your GST though

Think of it this way, you can earn back the RM50 if you swipe your Amex during weekend. In the end there's still profit (provided you use it accordingly)

It is safe to say that no reported case of successful waiver so far. And from the look of it, this will remain the same as it is one of the 'hottest' card in town. Just pay the GST and you will be able to 're-coup' it in no time :-)

They ask to fax in 2 months pay slip coz want to revise CL You may check the fake calls thread to see whether you received calls from scammers. Click hereModus operandi very suspicious. Instead of asking people here, common sense this is something irregular. And you should provide the number which you receive the call from ... provide evidence to substantiate your statement. Readers here can easily jump to such unverified claims and I will not hesitate to delete such posts which is ambiguous and may lead to unnecessary alarms. Regarding overseas transaction. Is paypal counted as it? I find the 5X TP given for using amex result in a cheaper than published exchange rate if i were to do T/T at Banks

I find the 5X TP given for using amex result in a cheaper than published exchange rate if i were to do T/T at Banks Paypal is local or overseas transaction depending on your account setting and the recipient/merchant. If you have an MY account in RM and the merchant is MY, then it's local. If you are thinking of transferring funds from your Amex CC to another person, hopefully you have already considered the Paypal charges as well as the Amex charges.

You cannot buy RM PayPal funds with AMEX. I tried but it was declined.

Checked my online statement through M2U this afternoon and noticed I already have the PayPal code. Verified my card right after that. Now can't wait to weekend to buy my account.
