QUOTE(Gen-X @ Jun 4 2011, 02:09 PM) The self adhesive transparent stickers used by the banks to cover the specimen signatures is of good plastic quality and super strong adhesive material. The reasons I stick on the signature are:1) The signature and the unwritten space on the back of the CC would be permanently sealed and protected to prevent any attempt of tempering. 2) The self adhesive material is so strong that any attempt to remove the transparent sticker will damage the signature. To hide the cvc, I use a type of writeable matted surface cellophane tape (which is easily available at stationery shop) for ease of marking with any pen type and replacement. Everybody has it own method to cover the CVC. As long as it covered, doesn't matter how it is done. Better safe first rather than sorry later.

QUOTE(staind @ Jun 4 2011, 08:40 AM) It shows how vulnerable card users are. If we opt to pay something over the phones, I saw in places to use Amex that some bill can be paid over the phone, isn't we expose ourselves to this danger as well.? pay bill via phone wont ask for security number. i paid etiqa, maxis, astro via phone more than 1 time previously.QUOTE(Gen-X @ Jun 4 2011, 08:20 AM) At least it is good that BNM making all card issuers to sms us when a transaction occurs with our card. QUOTE(andyfriends @ Jun 4 2011, 10:32 AM) QUOTE(Gen-X @ Jun 4 2011, 11:41 AM) it should be 1 January 2012.QUOTE(andyfriends @ Jun 4 2011, 10:39 AM) yes online transaction need it.QUOTE(kurtkantoi @ Jun 4 2011, 11:21 AM) This is really a big case. I wonder if it safe to reveal card number when applying new credit card or for other purchase? How this is happened? Bata only reveal his card number is it without the security code behind? 1. apply new credit card, only front card copy is needed.2. AMEX security number is NOT at behind, thats why |

QUOTE(Shinichi @ Jun 6 2011, 01:19 AM) Especially when you are traveling abroad where some merchant might want to verify you card against your passport... this is what I heard from my friend... This reminds me of my experience at Stansted airport. There was this Chinese lady who had to pay for overweight luggage or something. The staff was reluctant to swipe her card, she said that the name is so different from the passport name. I didn't manage to hear the whole conversation between them but the chinese lady kept saying 'I can sign and show you my signature, I sign and you see' and the staff asked her 'do you have another card that has a name that is more similar to your passport' or something along those lines. The lady also said 'you can contact the bank if you don't believe me'. Didn't stay long enough to find out the end result. |

My spending pattern was about RM300-500 a month on my previous Maybank Gold Card.
But last month did a transaction of around RM3500 on AA purchase, I was expecting some call from Maybank side to verify the purchase. Yet, it was just accepted in an instant. Shouldn't they can verify someone spending pattern and if suddenly exceed it, just give a call for veriification? |
