Just called AMEX Plat CS since I was worried about such fraud being easily done. My AMEX details is so easily exposed to tens of cashiers & waiters in a mere week time.

The CS said, any online transaction with AMEX will be called by the bank. I told the CS that I doubt so because they are so many users out there, but the CS insisted that they were doing this with no exceptions to deter fraud cases. I wonder how true is this but I already asked the CS to put a strong note in my AMEX accounts, so they will surely call me up for any online transactions.

I doubt the CS will call on every transaction. Recently i do purchase a lot online with oversea company. I notice that not every transaction that I made will received call from CS for confirmation. Some of the transactions just went through without my confirmation. But some transaction they just block it due to their security reason (because most of the time the oversea company charge my card on their country working hour which I believe we all already fall to sleep tongue.gif)

@bata,

You mentioned that Maybank called you to inform about the illegal transactions. Anyway can confirm that it is from Maybank CC centre (1300-88-6688) ? This may be a clue on how it happen.

IF the call is not from this number, it could be:

The forumer saw ur number, then from your posting elsewhere in this forum, he got ur hp number. Pretending to be from Maybank, he got more details about your card when he called you. Then, he use the card for the purchases.
*
the number that called me was 03-27727500. I just got off the phone with Maybank and they verified tht number is valid, from MBB verification team.
Good news is i might have the refund from the Air Asia ticket purchase, but i still got no news on the PayPal.

Wish me luck guys, and to those stealing my cc details, i hope you choked to death. rclxms.gif

I've mentioned this shortly before this bata case, and I'm gonna say it again.

I made an account purchase at fileserve.com using my M2 amex and it's worth a mere RM30.

Less than 5 minutes after getting the account, I got a call from maybank to verify whether I did make that purchase.

I bought an AA two-way flight ticket to Singapore around RM 350 in February 2011. AMEX didn't call me also.

Is there a clear cut rule for CS to call us whenever a transaction is made? I am not just talking about online purchase. I know foreign banks like HSBC are pretty stringent when it comes to purchase of more than 1k, online or not.

Lesson learned the hard way , never ever post . Even if you want to post , blur out the details , your name , date and few others. its simple thing , exposing your credit card number is like you being naked. Imagine that ? Walking naked around ? Same thing

Anyhow , you may have to contact PayPal on that. Just ask them to be reversed , it should be good to go

There is no point blaming the people here , in the Internet bro , people will take advantage of whatever. Its your job ,even in the world out there , some people may just jot down the card number and use it later. You'll have to be careful. The bright side is that you've learned your lesson

I have PBE and Maybank. PBE is kinda stringent especially when it comes to postal transactions (sometimes I buy stuff from aussie and well its via postal. They just call me up and asking well , did you do AUD$210 thingy. Maybank on the other hand does not seem to care about this. I guess it boils down to bank)

Oh dear

Anyhow bata , its very harsh lesson for you. Anyhow this would make you a better person later on. My recommendation is if you have > 1 card , try to separate it. Don't alt , keep one for online purchase/backup and other one for retail ! I dont know which bank in malaysia that gives you an online disposable credit card number meant for online purchases only

Well, I used to have a Maybank Visa Petronas Gold. I used it online to purchased a Dell laptop for my gf (from laptop, delivery address all under her name). Guess what. The transaction went through. We received the laptop. However, when I tried to swipe my card a few days later, it was blocked.

So, I called their CS and she told me they decided to block my card due to that purchase. I was like WTH, you blocked my card after you let the transaction went through?? The CS gave excuse they can't reach my cellphone to confirm the transaction when it happen. Not true at all.

Anyway, I am currently holding Maybank 2 Cards. Can't resist their rebate. Need to be extra vigilant when holding their card.

I have a similiar experience with HLB Essential credit card.

Bought 4 tyres at the tyre shop, swiped my Visa card but I not able to receive their phone call on time coz I was on call with my other customers.
Received a sms right after saying that my account was suspended, ask me to call back to verify.
They contacted me to verify the last purchase, where was it, time etc.

Thought of cancel the card though if I get my OCBC titanium mastercard....ehm.
So far with MBB 2, I only purchased AirAsia, petrol and starbucks....Gonna be very precautious from now on

I have both MBB and PBB CC. PBB is very stringent on purchase. They had called me several times to verify my purchase even is a few hundred bucks cellphone.

As for MBB, I havent receive any calls from them yet. They didn't even call me when I swipe my card overseas a shortwhile after getting those cards as I didnt inform them that I am going overseas.
