Fair question.

Online applications can be immediately forwarded to the relevant department for processing cutting out agents.

Same as Citibank Case where they reward customers who apply online.

Maybe that for only citibank , for Standard Chartered Bank they still have to call the customer which apply thru online and there are agent for online application as well. How do I know this ? coz i working in Standard Chartered Bank.

Please dont blame the those agent which doing direct sales as their benefit not as good as online, thats why agent might giving misleading info scare that customer will go apply thru online.

Please dont try to justify the misleading info. If they already know the info is wrong, but still use it to get more sign-ups, it is known as cheating icon_rolleyes.gif

Thank you for informing us that you are a working SCB staff and sharing with us the above info.

However, you should have come clean earlier and instead of posting a question (asking if we find it weird online application gives higher cash back), you should be explaining to us (like above post) why it is so.

Makes me wonder what is the purpose of you posting in the first place. You weren't sharing with us anything informative when in actual fact you are in a position to explain/share with us your question since you are a SCB staff. It's like you are fooling with us.

The picabot is selling for about RM1,288, they have been promoting it for years stating the retail price at RM1,888. How I know, I bought one a couple years ago and now kaput already, hahaha.

Yah, go sign up PB, get PPM card, picabot, choice points for your loan and deposits and comes new year time, Priority Banking Ang Pow which are really of high quality (based on this year's) but they very stingy in giving them out. And if you need a FM, I volunteer, no cost to you, but join name la the deposit so that I can also get the VI for FREE, haha

@Gen-X,
Lol...... well I don't believe in all these bot bot stuff; perhaps the iRobot but other than that, I think not that good lah! *grins*

Hmm.. so are you saying that if it's a joint-account, both the persons are principal holders on the VI? Whatever happened to your VI?

yah, my friend's iRobot still working and he bought it years earlier than i bought the picabot.

I not sure lah if both can be issued Principal VI with joint account. But I don't see why not if the condition is "any one can sign" to withdraw the FD smile.gif

As for my SCB VI, I surrendered it when I close my SCB PB account after the 5% savings promo expired, they wanted to reissue to me (without PB status) but I said no need lah. But my wife accepted their offer (she also closed her PB account) since she wanted the PPM card and was reissued the a new SCB VI with new PPM card thumbup.gif If you very free (which I know you are not), click below link to read about my wife's and my SCB VI :

The point is, posting should be informative and best backed by source or proof so that others are not "mislead". Furthermore, agents are to post at Service Noticeboard, so actually hye was very accommodating when he requested for the source of his ad.

Thanks for backing me up.
Too many misleading adverts these days (especially those appearing in the forum) and we need to be responsible to our readers with regards to facts and financial products information. Of course I get flamed every now and then and I take it as a normal job hazard being a mod in LYN.

I disagree with veli remark about sales (I'm not a sales person) which paints the profession and everyone in it negatively. And I hope our readers would be matured enough to give such remarks a mature analysis. @Veli if you are truly working for SCB, you should know that everything you do in your capacity as SCB staff reflects the identity of the bank and your response is simply outrageous and irresponsible.

I know this online and a lot of people (or even yourself) don't give a **** about your identity but you know what I just mentioned is true.

Only the first named account holder on joint account is entitled to the Priority Pass card. The second named account holder, even if it is either one to operate/sign is not entitled.

@audionutter,
Thanks for the information; I vaguely remember this is the case from previous years.

Both will be issued VI CCs but only 1 will be the principle holder. The other becomes supplementary sad.gif

Agreed that hye was very accommodating this time around because most of the time, he would have just deleted it or if i saw it first, i would have done the same too as we do not allow people to pitch sales in this particular section of the forum. To do that, we have Services Noticeboard and you can advertise your services there.

@Veli,
Personally, I prefer to make my application through a sales agent but only if that person is able to provide good services.

Just give your RM a call. He/she will arrange. So far never needed to pay for annual fees or GST etc. tongue.gif
