The points that are about to expire aren't enough to redeem for anything worthwhile.

That was the point I was trying to make.  I only use my credit card for fuel, so it's not as if I accumulate a massive amount.  Over time, it probably does amount to a lot, but the unredeemed values that expire honestly won't get me much.

So flame away.  tongue.gif
Then shop around and get a cash back card. Then you do not have to worry about expired points anymore. Alternatively, go for credit card that has no expiry date for the accumulated points.

Requested to terminate one of my cards from SCB as I have 2, to only keep one.

They called me again and asked me to retain the card which I rejected stating no point to have 2 cards from the same bank that do not really benefit me in any specific thing.

They offered to waive the GST (although I'll only be charged on October) on both cards (including the one I did not request to terminate) + RM 50 cash back directly into my account.

Well, can't resist that as I am going to save RM 100 in total. At least SCB is showing the sincerity in retaining its customers.

T&C is I only need to keep the card for a minimum of 6 months.

I understand that the cash rebate promo is giving annual fee waiver with the condition swipe 3 times within 60 days. If I just swipe once and cancel it, will I need to pay the annual fee?

the waiver is almost automatic..just needa give them a call annually and swipe 3 times..the RM50 is occasionally only..depends on luck too

u can try and see..but cant blame them if they indeed do charge u..and u could take tat as a lesson... otherwise just swipe 3 times and save all trouble and complain at later date. Choices are up to u

I think u probably mistaken their meaning of GST Waiver....
If they say they going to waive for u, it means they will give u RM50 credit in ur account to offset the GST charges.

I doubt they will waive (credit RM50) and then give u another RM50 cash just for keeping the card.

Unless they mean RM50 each card aka waiver.

It has been confirmed... they waive off GST for both of my cards. On top of that they give me RM50 as Cashback to spend.

If not I wouldn't want to continue. I cut off the card not because to get the waiver for GST. If waiver is all that they give, I wouldn't hesitate to cut the card. The reason was because I have many cards and want to cut down to make my wallet slimmer. Beside to manage so many cards, it is not easy. So I am trying to keep it simple and manageable.

However with the extra given.. I decided to keep it for another short term.

wow. I shall try this. Wondering if they really would offer me extra RM50 for me as their guaranteed gift promotion is too attractive brows.gif
Last year, I only got the GST waiver. I wasnt offered RM 50 extra cash tho.

how was your yearly spending?

Actually my cycle month is October and cutting now already shown to them that I am not keen on the GST waiver thingy. So the reason I told them is that I do not want so many cards. Beside that I have another card with them and decided to cut one and keep one.

But I appreciated cause they waive the GST for both cards despite I only asked to cancel one.

My yearly spending.. I never really calculate however not that many cause I have quite a number of cards and will use more on the one that have contest. Currently Citibank has RM50 for Samsung Galaxy S3 contest. So I am going to swipe that more.

typical SCB. they treat those who want to cancel like a king but give others a run around over simple queries.
