Taking bus will be much cheaper If im not mistaken its about RM30-50
there's a info station specially for buying bus ticket in the airport you might consider going there to ask for direction and price.
*
From airport to Taipei Bus Station using bus will be NTD125 per person.
Basically, from Taipei to Ximending using MRT costed u only NTD16 per way.

Hence, definitely it wont be RM30 to RM50! Hope it's helpful smile.gif

Hello sifu sifu out there, how you think about my route? I'm gonna have additional 1 1/2 days and 1 night, I'm thinking to go to Cingjing Farm. Please advise...
*
Wow, I'm traveling on the same date with you, only I'm arriving and leaving in the morning. tongue.gif
I'm not expert but would like to help. Are you traveling alone? It seems that you want to save on accommodation.
Do you really want to be this rush? It's best to get a good night sleep so that you can enjoy your trip.

I heard it's not advisable to go to JiuFen during weekend as the place is very crowded and the buses will delay so you'll spend a lot of your time waiting.
How about the following? I'm not sure whether it fits your purpose? Even this itinerary feels too rush... sweat.gif however you'll not spend the night in the train.

02/10 HSR to TaiChung - NanTou Bus to SML
03/10 Early morning NT Bus to Puli, then change bus to Cingjing
(If your purpose is to see the sheep show, better check the show time and bus time first.)
Assuming If you watch the show in the morning and not staying the night, you can go to Taipei to spend the night so you can head out to JiuFen early tomorrow. Do note that, I think you'll arrive Taipei quite late.

04/10 Taipei - PingXiLine - JiuFen - Kee Lung Night Market
05/10 YiLan - LuoDongNightMarket
Since you are doing LuoDong, why don't you tour around YiLan for this day? Luo Dong is actually on the way to HuaLien.
06/10 HuaLien - 纵谷
07/10 HuaLien - Tarako - Taipei
08/10 Taipei
09/10 If you are taking the bus, then you have to board the bus ard 1pm. Maybe do some light souvenir shopping. Tour some nearby tourist spots that open early.

wow that's alot of travelling. are u travelling alone/backpacking? will be very tiring if you do not have enough rest. like aquariel said, weekend is not a good day to visit jiufen because it will be super packed with locals as well as tourists. and i realised your pingxi journey kinda rushing. are u not planning to visit the places around those stations, or you just wanna hop on hop off those stations?

and better check weather forecast before u head to hualien/taroko. typhoon is landing taiwan these few days especially southeastern area.

Reporting from Taiwan... What a day CPU cos my son is sick. Luckily the medical center is not bad.

I was being slaughtered for fareastone 3g as I wasn't given anytime to buy it at the airport. Went to Taiwan Mobile in XMD and they ran out of stock. No choice but to get from those shop. 600NTD but value only 350NTD. Im not impressed with their night market.

But for good clothing bargain, goto Wufengpu..better than the leng Mui XMD haha

I find it interesting that they even had signal for 3g inside the tunnel. Speed is also consistent, around 1.5mbps for fet.

There are plenty of free wifi here in Taiwan but quite troublesome unless you stay in one place for a long period of time. Google Maps is brilliant.

Don't sign for FarEastone... Their signal outside of Taipei is really inconsistent. We happened to pass by a ChungHwa telco office and my bro signed up for it. Speed is almost 3mbps at best compared to FarEastone 1.5mbps, coverage also better. Not to mention it's also cheaper at 450NTD for 7 days vs 350NTD for 5days.

Yeah..李大哥 quote me the same price as well :-)  I do send him a note in English too...
Lushan Hot Spring nice? I never research that place..Photos from google looks normal for me..No idea..haha..

You are planning to Taroko too? Do you know how far the journey? My plan is from:
Taipei>>Sun Moon Lake (stay 1 night)
SML>>Cingjing (stay 1 night)
Cinjing>>back to Taipei (stay night at Taipei)

Just worry the last itinerary from Cingjing back to Taipei which we may rent a car to stop by Taroko might be very limited time.
Any idea how long Cingjing to Taroko? And any good driver to recommend?
*
hey there.Sorry for the late reply. That time i went to Guilin and was busy during the raya week.

Not sure if Lushan Hot Spring is nice but if i might head there at night so i wont see much. Just go there to utilize the hot spring there smile.gif

From CingJing to Taroko, it'll take 3-4 hours. Our driver said travelling time for his booking is about 8-10 hours.

Here's the info i got from my driver, hope you'll find this useful:

Your plan looks nice. You may want to reach Cingjing from SML abit early say noon time since their attractions close around 5pm and at night there's nothing much to do in Cingjing.

Cinjing>>back to Taipei...you may want to purchase the train ticket from Hualien to Taipei in advance just incase. You can do so when you reach Taipei or book online. i plan to buy Hualien->Taipei night train ticket at Taipei Main station on the first day. Alternatively, you can choose to stay one night in Hualien.

As for the CingJing -> Taroko driver, you can try to contact :-

OPTION 1: Mr Li Te-Ming (teming_li@yahoo.com.tw 0937-980512) - i booked this

OPTION 2:
Lu Lai Fu
Taxi # N2-459 (Drives a Toyota Wish )
Phone: 0928-569081
Overseas call or SMS +886-928 569 081

OPTION 3: Mr Looi [886 928 569 081]

I got the above info after checking tripadvisor forum and lowyat.net taiwan thread. Mr Looi was highly recommended but i couldnt find any email, so settled with Option 1 =)

Just landed this morning from Tao Yuan...

Feel rather disappointed with the trip. Its not like what I expected. The night markets are damn over-rated. I was wondering how they cope with the heat so well where as I was dripping and sweating like a sportman the moment I get out of the bus or train.

Anyway, I think Taiwan best attraction is still its cities and not those far far away places. There's nothing much to see really. The view is so so, or even gross after being hit by typhoon. Waters are murky. Their train system is really so efficient. Thats the one thing I really like about it when I was in Taipei. People are also nice but the night markets are overly crowded, its hot, humit, and worse, you have to queue to buy food in this terrible weather. The "3 pui kai" I ate in Malaysia's Taiwanese restaurant is much better than the one I had there. The "oh jian" is also better here (I mean the one I ate in Taiwanese restaurant). I would stop short of accusing them being bad since they are after-all, pasar malam standard.

Their One Piece theme park is quite nice... too bad I was with my son and had to look after him. Miss all the rides but we went at a bad timing, weekends which means a lot of people with long long queues.
