Hi all

All I asked was 1 simple question 'the diff of Japanese and Europe Marimo' and i get a lengthy lecture on 'not to be lazy'. This is a forum where seniors can guide / help the newbies like us in understanding on the topic discuss better. If you really wants to help, either give us a direct answer or guide us to the post number. We know what to do from there and we really appreciate your assistance. BUT please dont give us names by calling us lazy.

Thank you for your understanding. Reading 2,300 over posts takes one hell of time. I prefer to spend time watching my Marimo bounding up & down. More smoothing to my mind after a mad day in the office. I dont need any more headache.
Another reason why I prefer ask openly is to build up relationship with the senior and to keep the topic running. You can see some of the other topics are so quiet, almost dead.

have a wonderful weekend watching your beautiful Marimo.

woah, I just research it, they said it kinda like Plankton, called Copepods. White small, thin like snow..and walking around the aquarium glasses +_+.
At first I kinda freak out, and so afraid that they might hurt marimos.. but after I know about it, I'm so relieved..hehehe.. they are completely harmless to your fish, and are actually a major source of food in natural freshwater environment smile.gif but I don't have fishes in my aquarium! so I have to clean my aquarium XD. Wow.. how is ur little Snails now..? XD did they grow big?
You might wanna prepare yourself on what else gonna be in your lil marimos tank in the future. Though they are harmless of course.
Copepods /cyclops blink.gif
Seed Shrimp/ Ostracoda hmm.gif
Daphnias blush.gif
Bloodworms - shocking.gif damn, this really freak me out bcos i never thought they are actually younglings from a certain flies
Nematodes unsure.gif eeew~
Nymphs mad.gif
Mosquito Larvae vmad.gif

I'm no expert but judging by the filaments they look real. Make sure after the bath, you give them reasonably aerated water, plenty of light, and cool water. If they pearl, it's a sure sign they're real. You can aerate water a little by putting some in a bottle and shaking vigorously.

move them to small bottle after putting in Canister Filter in the Aquarium
Somehow, the Water inside the Aquarium can't clean clearly.. maybe because of the Gravels? it still looks dusty even I washed the gravel many times+_+

and..I kinda freak out when some furs of marimo released from it, the filter quickly absorb the fur +_+" hahaha.. (can marimo become smaller because of the filter's strainer?)hahaha.. +_+

Definitely the gravel. Nothing to do but to keep washing. Alternatively you can try cycling the water through the filter till it runs clear.

yep..it became a nice house for marimos tho... it fit 3 Super Giant inside^^ because of the round shape<3

Added on September 1, 2012, 3:47 pmI notice there are some hair fillamens at Super Giant marimo that brown/white/yellow colorish(but really little). All at the edge of the hair..... need advice!
1. should I cut the edges a little?
2. should I rub them with water salt?
3. should I do nothing and let the greenish colour back naturaly?

thank you..^^

i have 2 marimo,one of it i think dying...
both the color is not dark green..one of it abit light green and another not so healthy one is even lighter with some very light brownish color to it..

the not so healthy one is like going to split, when i squeeze it,its not firm..

Can someone tell me if its just going to split or is it dying?
or is both of it dying?

I heard that when there are green colour on marimo, means the marimo still can be saved... washed them and rubbed them with salt water..
then put them in fridge with the amount salt 5% of the water volume!
