If your tank has brown algae problem then yeah.. it could get covered by it and will take a while to recover.

If your tank is balanced then it shouldn't have an issue.

Mine was previously in office tank... 10 litres but overpopulated as hell with 12 adult guppies.. sand.... anubias only. No problem until in January when it went without maintenance for a couple weeks.

But since then I moved it into another even smaller tank with ferns and just 1 guppy that's algae free. Trim off the brown algae once a while and now its mostly dissappeared..
