hi guys, need to ask, been doing some 'experiments'(actually not experiment la..lol) with my 5 giant morimos for a few months already..
1)before this, im using mineral water and changed it every week but now since i transfered all my marimos into a my community fish tank, they seemed, well, less fresh than before. is it bcos if the water quality and the mineral properties inside the water itself that makes my marimo like this?
2)also, i just changed to a led type lamp for the morimos, but they(the 2 largest ones) starting to have a little bit brown spot on them. should i use normal flourescent lamp and how get rid of those brown patches? scared they are dying... NOOOOOOOOOOO!!
3) when can a giant morimo split itself to produce a new baby morimo?
thanx

QUOTE(ZeneticX @ Feb 16 2012, 02:25 PM) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « where can i buy those little fancy small glass to contain my nano marimo ? anybody here selling? and my marimos are a bit weird. the bottom 2 which won't float come from the same seller, while the top 3 which are floating come from a different seller. why some will float and some won't ? i've heard stories of fake marimos as well after i took one of them and start rolling them on my hand, put it back into water and it stopped floating.why is tht so well, it happens to me usually after i washed them and and squeeze them, some will float and some will just sink like brick. but after a few days, they all just drop to the bottom. (must be the all the water filled inside i guess) also, the big ones always float a few days before going down in my case
small bottles can get from gift stores, they sell things like mini sand bottle or sumthing, can use that too. check RM1-10 shop too haha

i quarantine it, put it in a basket, filled with mineral water, add a tiny pinch of salt then put in a place with low-medium lighting and cool place. putting in a refrigerator might help, if the fridge got an on 24/7 LED bright cool daylight specs.
Results after 3 months: less and less brown patch on my super giant marimos..lol.. i dont put them in fridge, parents wont let me, so put them in fish tank with xtra fan cooler and pinch of table salt(without iodine)

dunno bout you guys, i am currently using non-iodized and contains no additives table salt (not the normal table salt) works fine by me since they are almost the same as aquarium salt. but if u have doubts and cut the hassle, just buy an aquarium salt, much easier but they charge you a bit pricey for one lol

Well it still works in reducing the temperature. cheapest? that thing cost about 40++ right? but worth it for the marimo sake
