QUOTE(blossom_123 @ Jul 30 2012, 12:01 PM) I have seen a pic of marimo being held by 2 people on some website and its as huge as a basketball Added on July 31, 2012, 9:38 am QUOTE(ck.chunkeat @ Jul 30 2012, 11:12 PM) By right it should be able to grow as big as you want.since it grows 5mm per year,it might take very long to grow into huge balls. Mine bubbling almost everytime when i do water changes. Try give it a few gentle squeeze to clear the water inside partially then gently roll it and put it back into the water. Pipe or filtered water both no problem Added on July 30, 2012, 11:14 pmanyway,1 question to other marimo owners. Do your marimo carry out photosynthesis frequently and have bubbles on it? Is it daily basis? Cause mine dont have bubbles edi..last time got a few(less than 10) when i just got them.. As for the water..should i put in pipe water or filtered water? Hello all
I recently bought Marimo too^^ It's from Strapya, Marimo Phone Charm Wondering, I saw many pictures in Internet that Nano Marimo isn't as small as mine that I bought from Strapya (5mm diametre) and this is my first time I owned Marimo >.< Wondering is Marimo 5mm size like mine need more special care? since it's reaaally small yesterday It's photosynthes-ing..then today it didn't, so I try to change the water, and push it with my finger a little on tissue so the old water getting out, then it starts Photosynthes-ing (pearling) again Why It didn't photosynthes-ing before? O_o" do I need to press it to let the water out everyday so It can photosynthesis? thanks alot! |

QUOTE(Azure_Fox @ Aug 6 2012, 11:40 AM) Hello all The name of "Nano Marimo" was created by a pioneer seller and member of Lowyat here named Lee Yung. Of course if you surf around here you'll see lots of others name like LY, Lyong, LeeY... etc but the person i'm referring to is Lee Yung. The Nano size given for this tiny fella range from 10mm - 15mm. Yours is not nano, it simply just a decorative hp strap, just avoid direct sunlight. There isn't need of any special care for particular sizes if what you have is a genuine one. The photosynthesis only happens if you wash and squeeze it. Generally it's just an algae plant so it won't move/float or photosynthesis by itself.I recently bought Marimo too^^ It's from Strapya, Marimo Phone Charm Wondering, I saw many pictures in Internet that Nano Marimo isn't as small as mine that I bought from Strapya (5mm diametre) and this is my first time I owned Marimo >.< Wondering is Marimo 5mm size like mine need more special care? since it's reaaally small yesterday It's photosynthes-ing..then today it didn't, so I try to change the water, and push it with my finger a little on tissue so the old water getting out, then it starts Photosynthes-ing (pearling) again Why It didn't photosynthes-ing before? but from what i observed...the so call photosynthesis after washing is actually not more than the air bubbles trapped inside the marimo.
Im sure that everyone might have squished the marimo abit to wash out the old/dirty water..but then when we do that, theres some space/air in it which forms air bubbles when we put them back into the water.. So,im not sure if they still photosynthesis or not..maybe they do,but the oxygen formed as a result from it is too small for our naked eye to spot them.. |

If no photosynthesis how it can maintain it's greenish color leh? Anyway i'm not expert but since it only grow so little per year so i can only say its process of photosynthesis is slower than normal plant as it doesn't need much sun light. Mine i placed in the bathroom most of the time and it were so so green like in Dark Greenish color so healthy.Im sure that everyone might have squished the marimo abit to wash out the old/dirty water..but then when we do that, theres some space/air in it which forms air bubbles when we put them back into the water.. So it's good to hear from a marimo fan here that concern about their marimo but as long as they are healthy you no need to concern about what to see wif naked eye lah hehe |

I see that when there is light, little marimo starts its pearling, then when I move the bottle to the darker places where there is no light, it starts sinking.. I really hope that it's genuine >.<" |

IMHO, you can only see the photosynthesis after-effect, O2 being released in the water if your water is fully saturated with O2 and CO2 gas.

QUOTE(ck.chunkeat @ Aug 7 2012, 10:09 PM) i place it on the table beside my window... Me not expert but based on my little experience when it turn alittle lemon green it is better to masuk peti sejuk (not the freeze compartment ok?) . Masuk Nite take out morning, see it turn abit greener or not. I think arh, as a beginner its better to own a thermometer so you can be cautious of temperature changes. When exceed 28 degree celcius just masuk 1 or 2 ice cube in your marimo bottle. Hope tis help.Is it sunlight problem? I on aircond every nite...is that enough? |
