the video is showing when both car are cornering..which is true that u may lost control if the rear tires have no thread to channel all the water..hence the car will hydroplanning

but if front tire no thread , you cant even get into corner when it is wet ie understeer will happen.

normally we just replace the worn tire with the new one...or rotate tyre frequently at fixed interval like 10,000km and change 4 all together when tires's thread are equally worn out..

ani good and budget tire under Rm200/pc...?
195/15,prefer profile 50 front,and 55 back...
prefer good handling with comfort and minimal noise...
btw...
if given Z912 vs MY-01...
which is better to go for...?

the cheaper choice over the silverstone kruizer is achilles atr sports. although noisier.
it perform marginally better. both sux' thou.

ah_chung@
for some reason, i usually don't recommend a particular shop but you're just lucky
kee hin tyre shop is located in old klang road. somewhere near the mazda showroom if i could recall.

Str33tBoY@
i will pick up ze912 anytime over the my-01. grip, traction... the ze912 simply triumph
over the my-01 which is happened to be one of the entry level tires from bridgestone.

Karenalvin@
different profile are either for looks or practical. that is if you always carry weight in the boot or fr setup. else,
nose dive' effect during heavy braking.

btw, the video is interesting but it should consider car setup as well. ie; running wheels,
choice of tires and major road condition / surface s well.

here is my experience ;
1 : was driving a ff car setup with 60% front tread and 90% rear tread (falken st115). heavy rain in mrr2. speed around 70km/h. straight road after tbs station, hit a pud of water and car slightly swerve to left.
result : throttle and steering control required. increased heart beat smile.gif

2 : rotate the rear tires to the front. different time but same place, same car, identical speed, purposely went out for testing, that is what we car buffs do. hit a pud of water. result : no aqua planning, throttle up after the same spot.

3 : driving a fr car setup with 60% front and 70% rear (re001). hitting 90km/h at the same spot.
no aquaplaning. arguments : car is heavier and tires are better? lol...st115 is one of the better tires around. just too bad they're a rarity.

4. driving no 3 car at wee morning in mrr2 during heavy rain. hitting 120km/h at the corner just after
shell station near tbs. no aquaplaning.

how often do we drive fast in corner? with the exception of east coast and highlands, peninsular road are mostly straight.
conclusion : regardless of car setup, correct choice of tires and maintaining the right level of tires' tread / pressure / rotation / age and alignment will do the trick!

thx bro...
ani good tyre to use under Rm175 / donut...?
195 / 15,profile 50 & 55...
my usual tyre shop got some very good condition 2nd hand tyre for this 2 model...
so i'm thinking which one to go...

i use profile 50 in the front because it is alot faster & the control is better compare to profile 55...
of coz u need to sacrifice the comfort...

but from my understanding of the posting he is thinking of 195/55 rear and 195/50 front? would not this case as yngwie mentioned, cause dive coz the front is smaller than the rear.

the different in size should be around 3% (refer to 1st post at 1st page) which return a minimal difference in speedo reading. handling wise, lower profile tires are marginally lighter and give a more direct steering feel.
less flexing in corner.
comfort is quite subjective though. it may not depend on the profile alone. tires sidewall construction and pressure matter. ie; profile 50 of a-drive is more comfortable than profile 60 re002.

Karenalvin@
good suspension setup will be able to compensate the lower profile on the front.
another reason why ppl put a lesser size ratio front tires than the stock ones, ie; 205/60/15 to 195/50/15, acceleration is marginally faster / better fc but speedo reading will give a faster but incorrect km/h reading.

btw, cc5 is indeed more comfortable than d01. but on our rough asphalt, chances are d01 will survive longer.

neuton n8000, v12, ze-912, yokohama c-drive2, michellin premacy range or even the ps3... the list are endless.
sub 250 bucks apiece. balancing is 20 bucks for 4 tires and alignment should be around 38 to 68 bucks.

iamGuest@
ps3 by being newer and more adept to our road condition / climate. it beat the t1r in wet and dry grip.
japan made t1r is a tad softer and noisier.

Any recommend tyre for Honda City 195/55/R15 ?

Budget RM180- RM200 each...

Dry, wet and long lasting, no required performance.

ermmm... grip = performance no?

"oh, I am running a perfomance tyre thats low on grip"

or

"oh, my very grippy tyres have very poor performance"
