where to find back a good speaker as good as Altec Lansing ACS 45.1 ?
The old white famous altec lansing speaker ?
*
the ACS45.1 is real good stuff despite lacking in treble

but for now.... I doubt you can find anything as worth paying as ACS45.1 as compared to the standard Edifier now

thanx a lot man.. what if u had to choose between the 2??  considering factors like availability and so forth (live in ampang so lowyat would be ideal place to shop) which would be better.. coz ive read previous comments saying the corsair is a bit hard 2 get in lowyat plaza..

and tq for clearing up the 2.1 and 5.1 issue as well smile.gif

I don't really know how to choose for you because... they are both different stuff and they both excel in different section.

if you want classical quality looks then the Edifier can give you the luxurious wood
if you want casual but powerful surprise in looks the plastic enclosure of Corsair is very fun to sit on your desk

the only way I can separate them is by looks because both are totally different beasts that I both love.

if you are going to pair with tv use then S530D is the only good one because of the extra wireless remote and That's All

Edifier having same standard as ACS45.1 + treble ?
Since i am using old altec lansing v41 giving very much problem with bass.I can't turn the bass lower than 50 % else it'll give me a "wooooo" sound.Suspect the speaker is going down soon.

Going to replace it but not sure which is best for 2.1 channel.Just for PC. Movie 40%,Music 35%, game 25%. All well balance if possible.Budget wise, not over RM 300.

we have just discussed about it in a few posts ago.
thanks for the reply but i already bought the 44watts version of sonic gear blue thunder I @RM149, i compare this speaker with other brands such as altec, edifier, creative, can't get same quality unless it's RM350++ above, this is the only one speaker build by sonic gear that i really like, thank god they still produce it even with the newer version 2012 made. smile.gif

I definitely suggest whoever wants BOOM bass can try this 44 watts version @ ALL IT PJ, i think this is the best bang for bucks for the one who's looking for boom bass speaker. And about the quality i've seen this speaker is different from other sonic gear model, even tho the spec is on par with Armageddon series but naahhh when i compare it this speaker win hands down. Any of u looking for 2.1 speaker should really try this model, just my opinion. smile.gif

Hi guys, looking for simple but nice sounding 2.1 speakers for my laptop.

Budget is preferably lower than 150-200.

Mainly used for Music, gaming once in awhile but not priority. The music I listen to is very very wide but I would say majority is Metal/Hardcore, followed by Acoustic stuff and Jazz so it doesn't need to be too bass-heavy but nice clear sounding.

It will be in my bedroom so it's not too big.

Thx in advance!

Guys, currently using Asus P8Z77-V Pro mobo and it come with DTS onboard soundcard thingy...
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Soc...#specifications
And I'm thinking of getting this for my Corsair SP 2500:
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2265846
or this?
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1805482
The reason I want that because it's cheap and it look interesting. My question is, will that DAC improve the speaker, make it more worse, or no improvement and it's a waste? And which above DAC is better? Or you guys can suggest another one for me.

Another one is I need recommendation for portable speaker. Gonna connect to my laptop and Nokia X6. I'm not familiar with these small speaker but some of them usb charged and some use adapter. Any difference? And if possible, can direct plug in pendrive or memory card. Prefer price below RM 100 but I can go up to max RM 200. RM 100 without usb and pendrive direct play still good enough for me. And I expect better decent output rather than the look. TQ...

Guys, I am considering buying Bose Companion 5.. But at the same time I also thinking of Edifier s550 or s730... As for the price, i can get the Bose for around RM1700.. If i take the edifier i need to add extra money for sound card and a good sound card is not cheap... So at the end, the money i spend will be the same as i buy Bose.. Which 1 will you choose and recommend?

I have not heard the Corsair SP2500 before but I doubt it would sound good for music as sound signature for gaming/movies is very different from music.

I'm currently an Edifier C3 which is good on music, IMHO better than many more expensive PC speakers like the Edifier S730 which have more harsh sound and more suited for Movies/gaming and booom boom boom.

My speakers cost around RM400+ but when paired with a RM200 portable DAC of mine, the difference is pretty BIG. Very much improved Audio Quality. Dammmmmn worth the money to get a better DAC thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

Anyway, the general rule applies. Shortlist a few models in mind and try to audition them as much as possible. If possible, bring your own music and test it out there.

Best of luck smile.gif

I doubt the performance in music at first but after tested both speaker with my Nokia X6, from my POV, SP 2500 are on same level with Harman Kardon Soundstick 3. But that's .mp3. Not sure for higher quality audio. But SP 2500 are balanced in term of music, gaming and movie. What do you mean bring along music? I did try with my own music. The only thing I want to do is borrow someone DAC. Hehe...

I'm not audiophile but I think it suit's all my need. Audiophile might have different opinion. Hehe... Edifier C3 not bad. That was my first and last choice if I'm unable to get Corsair SP 2500. I also advice my friend to get Edifier C3 within RM 400. brows.gif

Not sure about the Edifier M3200 since I've not heard it yet, but for music listening usually either Edifier M3400 or Edifier M3300. hmm.gif

At those price range, can get either 2.1 or 5.1 speakers already. Going for 2.1 or 5.1 system? unsure.gif

it would be wiser to choose Edifier M3400 for a better performance than M3200
