im planning on buying the edifier m3300 but i found out there actually is a m3300sf. Which is better? there's only a rm10 difference
From my listening tests, the M3300SF version doesn't have quite the treble that original M3300 has. bruce.gif

QUOTE(power911 @ Apr 16 2012, 06:48 PM)
your ears will decide for you... there are nothing much different other than just design
That's correct. I know some people can't stand high treble. Its up to the buyer to decide (thru listening tests at the showroom or demo) which speaker he feels comfortable with. cool.gif

Is M3300 is good choice for music purposes? Or any other model that falls under the category of < RM300 with better sound quality compare to M3300?
Yups, M3300 is good for music purposes. As for any other model better than M3300 at this price range AFAIK none at the moment. hmm.gif

Hi, Im having problem with my Evo5 Platinum, the Bass controller is not working when im increasing the bass. Since i cant increase it, i got no idea if the decreasing work. rclxub.gif
I will sent it to Sonic gear service centre someday. If the repair cost is no worth it, i might get a new one instead. My budget is around RM200.
Usually using it for movies, songs and games like most of you guys did here smile.gif Please give some recommendation, thanks alot.
Kinda quiet here, but my own recommendation would be Edifier M3300 (example user) and Edifier M3400 (example review) as mentioned earlier, also in the list of recommended speakers at the first post of this thread. Try to get a demo (listening test) at the shop/showroom to judge for yourself (listening preferences is subjective depending on the individual). Perhaps you can wait for the other guys to comment (or recommend other speakers). icon_rolleyes.gif

Isn't that speaker, HCS2320, is way over your budget of RM200? More like in the RM300 region... unsure.gif

hey guys... been helping out people too many times... and it's finally my turn to ask for help. icon_idea.gif

anyways, my friend is going to sell his Altec Lansing ATP3 to me and I was wondering if it's worth RM100? (what's it's original price before it was discontinued?)

ignore the conditions, if it sounded broken or rattling then I'll decline but however
as compared to Altec Lansing VS4121 or VS4621; or Edifier E3100, how does ATP3 sounds?
Why not got to his house and ask him to demo the speakers to you before buying them? Check and see everything is in good order, as well as whether the sounds from the speakers suits your listening preferences. Personally, I've heard the VS4121 and will say I am not impressed as they sounds kinda blur to me (lack of clarity overall) and more suited to people who likes boom boxes. ATP3 is pretty old and it does sound better than VS4121 though the highs are not that well defined. cool.gif

QUOTE(leroy87 @ May 3 2012, 05:06 PM)
a little out topic question,

but if im using Winamp, the output which is bettter?

DirectSound output
or Waveout output?
Rather than the default output plugins, I use Audioburst FX System and turned it all the way up to 24-bit 96kHz (depends on whether the audio I.C is capable or not). brows.gif

Look for Edifier M3400 (RM199) and Edifier E3100 (RM159). You can also check the recommended speakers list at the start of this topic. icon_rolleyes.gif

24-bit is more than enough at the moment, as that's the most common DAC resolution in audio I.Cs today. Also you will need to enable the resampler. The higher the quality of the resampler settings, the more processing power will be used. Good speakers and/or headphones are required... wink.gif

now that's some different pricing smile.gif

I've seen E3100 charged RM170 while M3400 RM150

different case but both performs well
I would choose M3400 because of the extra wired remote for volume control ease
That's bit more expensive as the E3100 would retail for around RM159, but the M3400 is much cheaper as it should be around RM199. Quite a reversal there, is it a pricing mistake or some special promotion? rclxms.gif

QUOTE(snowberry @ May 7 2012, 06:54 PM)

what brand do  i go for?
IMHO that would be Edifier if looking for clarity. Altec if you are looking for booming sounds. There's also a list of recommended speakers at the start of this thread. As always try the speakers at the shops (ask for demo) first to see which one suits your listening preferences. icon_rolleyes.gif

My budget is actually around rm100. Bro, i dont understand bout tweeter thingy. What is it about?
I actually tried the altec lansing and I am not satisfied with the bass. Oh yea, I like the Logitech s150 too. I duno why, but the soundstage is amazing, especially for the price range!
The tweeters are for the high frequencies. Without those, music and sound effects tend to be blur (unclear) and not refined. Try listening to sounds of cymbals and you'll notice they sound different without the higher frequencies. You'll also notice that 2-way speaker systems (with tweeters and mid-range drivers) tend to be more expensive than 1-way (single full range drivers). wink.gif

QUOTE(em0kia @ May 11 2012, 10:52 PM)
Oh yea, and may I know what are the famous brands that you guys will look into when buying speakers?

There are lots of famous brands like Klipsch, JBL, Harmon Kardon, etc.. though these are all expensive and beyond your budget. brows.gif

any suggestion for speaker.i often listen to music, gaming and movies.and seriously need remote control for the speaker.my budget is not more than RM150.the cheaper the better.
Look for Edifier E3100, should be around RM149. Perhaps the Edifier M3400 mentioned earlier at RM150 (not sure if that was a mistake or not as this speaker usually retails for RM199)... cool.gif

QUOTE(em0kia @ May 12 2012, 12:15 AM)
Fake speakers? What is the difference between fake and real speaker(sorry i am still new in this)? Haha.
If so i think i fall for a fake speaker  hmm.gif
Fake speakers are either pieces of plastic (or metal) that resembles speakers but does not function at all (no sounds). Its just to trick or give a false impression to the customer into thinking there's a speaker. Here's another type of fakery: Hantol PSU: Fake PFC Made of Cement. hmm.gif

And can recommend me some edifier speaker around RM100 which is good? biggrin.gif
IMHO can't recommend any Altec Lansing that's cheaper than ye olde MX5021. The BXR1221 has 4WRMS+4WRMS satellites and only 7WRMS subwoofer. As for your budget, you can try looking at Edifier M1335 which has 8WRMS+8WRMS satellites and 12WRMS subwoofer. icon_rolleyes.gif

between Edifier M1335,Edifier M1380,Edifier,Edifier M1360 and Altec Lansing BXR122 which is the best?
Of course Edifier M1335 (older model) and Edifier M1380 (newer model) are better. Actually both of these are newer variants of ye olde Edifier M1310 (all speaker specifications virtually the same, 8WRMS+8WRMS satellites and 12WRMS subwoofer, also same subwoofer design). cool.gif

Edifier M1360 kinda underpowered if you check its specifications (2WRMS+2WRMS satellites and 4.5W subwoofer). That's weaker than Altec Lansing BRX1221. All of these speakers have 1-way systems (single full range driver) for their satellites. tongue.gif

The Edifier E3100 as well as Edifier M3400 mentioned earlier are 2-way systems (tweeter and mid-range driver). That's why these speakers are highly recommended for RM150 price range.. icon_rolleyes.gif

Nope, fake speakers have no sound at all. You're hearing residual sounds from the main (real) speakers. Here's another fake speaker example, this time its Sonic Gear Evo 5. Tell me how, without any wires, can the fake "speaker" make any sounds? rclxub.gif

QUOTE(squarepilot @ May 12 2012, 02:32 AM)
i think he meant fake tweeter
Yes, that's what I meant. Those tweeters are for high frequency trebles. Without them some sounds will lose definition. Its also very much depends on the type of music people listen to, or not used to listening to better speakers, thus some don't notice the "missing speakers". cool.gif

The Edifier E3100 retails around RM159, though I've seen some places selling lower at around RM149. icon_rolleyes.gif

Yes, the satellites. E3100 has wooden satellites and bigger as well, plus tweeters for high frequency reproduction. icon_idea.gif

edifier m1335 have tweeters or not? and does it have audio jack for headphone at the wired remote control?
Nope, the Edifier M1335 does not have tweeters. And yes, it does have audio jack for headphone as well as a simple wired remote volume control. wink.gif

QUOTE(Cosef @ May 12 2012, 04:49 PM)
- E3100 has tweeter that good on playing trebles, M1380 only got full range speakers, but that full range able to play at higher frequency also. It is up to you to decide which sound you like.
There's always a limit to how well a full range drivers can reproduce high frequencies. Any simple test can demonstrate that. That's why tweeters are prefered. cool.gif

Depends on the price point, because IMHO feel Logitech speakers are a little underpowered (from what I've heard so far). What's your budget anyway? wink.gif

Since I am asked to close the previous thread I stated, and asked to ask my recommendation here, so here goes. I am looking for a good quality (sound and build) satellite speaker without subwoofer for my laptop. Budget RM150. The weight must not exceed 1kg.

Preferable like something like Logitech Z120. But reading from reviews, that is very fragile cause there is no grill. I am open to options.
They're not satellites, just stereo speakers (or "2.0 speakers"). Are you looking for speakers powered from the wall socket, and/or from the USB port only? unsure.gif

It doesn't really matter. Both will do fine. I was thinking of Edifier m1250 but I was wondering anything smaller than that but produce quality sound? Is Edifier m1250 good enough or are there better ones?
Actually it does matter. If you want portability then you will need to go for USB-powered speakers. As for better sound quality, tiny portable speakers don't make the grade. You'll need to look for speakers that are much bigger in size and preferably have tweeters on them, something like this: Edifier R600 USB (though the speaker's weight may be an issue, since you're looking for something around 1kg). However if you want louder sounds then those powered from the wall socket would be better as usually USB port has limited power supply. wink.gif

Its either an internal broken wire, dry solder joint (somewhere) and/or loose connector. Should be very simple fix. Usually can be repaired easily by any electrical/electronic repair person, or simply ask any local electrical repair shop. If the speaker is still under warranty, then fixing it may void warranty though... hmm.gif

Usually desktop PCs have at least 3 audio ports. Besides the usual LINE OUT, the other 2 ports (MIC IN and LINE IN) can double as outputs when using 5.1 speaker configuration (use the soundcard's own control panel or sound manager to setup speaker configuration). As for the broken button issue, find a technician to replace the push button micro switch. Anyway, what's your desktop PC brand/model? Why did you state that it has a single audio output? wink.gif

No, you can't use that. That's a custom cable for a particular soundcard only (note the main connector is not a stereo jack). Source: iXBT Labs: Genius Sound Maker Live 5.1 sound card...
