Just bought Sony x85E TV which is 10Bit TV. So on my Himedia Q10 Pro, I 'm trying to change the "Video color space & HDMI deep color" to YCbCr444 10Bit, but it keep on saying it is not supported and revert back to YCbCr422. Anybody know why ?

Also, is YCbCr444 10Bit the best setting for picture quality ?

Thanks !

this rather complex thingy has to do with hdmi version (devices, connections and cables), yr tv, the box base resolution/fps set and the type of video played.

no, ycbcr 444 is not "best" in that most UHD videos are processed with 420, so 444 is of no use.

444 is usually used in static texts.

read this, u will understand ycbcr and realted UHD issues better.

btw, yr new tv... nice one... 4k HDR + androidtv.

i hope u have good broadband speed.

high speed internet+ q10/q5 pro + good 4kHDR tv is "lethal"! biggrin.gif

i.e. u can easily get the largest and best 4k HDR videos; the player can handle easy; the tv will produce the finest results u can get.

of course, if u play the lower grades of HDR videos... the box+tv will not deliver their best.

8mbps... it will be awfully hard to get 60 or 90GB videos.

if u hv the chance, get a 2160p 10bit HDR BDMV video or two from a fren and try them.

u will not want anything else. biggrin.gif

sure it does.

the docking station is essentially a SATA bridge card.

it is just a bridge to connect the bare SATA drive to the USB card so that u can then plug the USB cable to box, like any other portable HDD with usb cable.

some can do 3.5", some 2.5", some dual.

some take 1 at a time, some can take 2.

just go to an IT shop, u find yr choices.

Ok will do. Thanks

it will work... been using it for weeks now.

quite glad that i did not away the drive but saved it with small money. biggrin.gif

i was actually trying to buy a spare part to make whole the portable HDD but then realize a docking station is actually better - multi purpose.

your requirements are basic, u do not want to spend big bucks.

you can buy any box, even cheap ones for that, if u hv:

.. internet speed 30mbps or higher.
.. appropriate apps.
.. decent videos for playback.

if total newbie, check the low priced ones mentioned in the other thread, try it, DIY like most people.
take note such a box is not astro box where u just push buttons.
u need to update, maintain, find new apps for it to work well.

himedia at this time has no low price models, only rm500 or higher.

"4k video streaming online..." - it can mean many things.
some so called 4k are heavily ripped, poor audio - no harder than 1080p; good ones will be like netlfix 4k.
4k streaming is not a big deal if u have the right connection speed.

why prices differ so much among brands and/models:

.. there must be a hundred brands and a thousand models today... from hongkong, singapore, china, brazil, russia, holland, south africa...
.. current min specs are 2/16gb, some offer 3/32gb... i do not think u need big-big but need minimum.

.. some with usb2.0+3.0, some with only 2.0.
.. some have ethernet port, some dun hv.
.. some have poor wifi module, some excellent.
.. some have native player, some dun, use generic player
.. almost all can do 4k, hevc, some better results, some not so good.
.. some can handle all kinds of hd audio, some cannot even do dts.
.. some offer full bluray menu, most dun.
.. some have very stable firmwares, some are shitty, unstable.
.. some have regular firmware updates, some have just one and then no more.
.. some have internal slot for hdd, most dun.
.. some can play almost any app, some cannot take certain apps.
.. some have seller/reseller/dealer forum support, some nothing.

so, u decide.. what u play, what u want to get, how good yr knowledge, how much time u can spend to learn, anyone who can help u.
if u r very keen, all ready, then buying a better box is a good idea, will last u 3-5 years.
if u r not that keen, just want something, no time to learn... then buy a cheap one, play and throw away if u dun like.
