q10pro/q5pro...

if u had kodi 17.4, it would hv auto updated to 17.5 by now.

there are reports of many users of various devices experience kodi crashing after this update.

if u have this problem, u need to install 17.5.1:

http://mirrors.kodi.tv/releases/android/arm/

my update was fine, no problem, 17.5 working fine as before.

if u already hv rss player, try this icdrama rss:
http://fibreiptv.weebly.com/blog/how-to-ad...ss-video-player

i think there is an anime section with chinese audio+chinese subs.

dunno if what u r looking for in the selection.

this myrss.nu/drama... sounds familiar... is it azdrama?

if i remember correctly, that used to work in kodi rss.

update... good news! rclxms.gif

for himedia Q10pro/Q5pro:

i clean installed kodi 17.5.1 on Q10pro.
http://mirrors.kodi.tv/releases/android/arm/
(of course, i hv backup of my addons, settings.)

you can now get Dolby Digital (AC3) and Dolby Digital Plus (E-AC3) for kodi online streams.

DTS, cannot... but if u enable the AC3 transcoding, DTS 5.1 will be processed as DD 5.1.

i guess this was the fix for AC3 pass through in 17.5:

QUOTE
Kodi 17.5 Fixes

Joysticks: Fix accelerometers preventing screensaver
More robust way of handling audio output on variety of Android devices
Fix playback of DVD file over network on Linux
Update to FFmpeg 3.1.11
Fix up and down buttons on ir remotes with macOS High Sierra
Added latest apple devices to allow retina support
Fix not being able to add content manually to videolibrary
Fix power message handling for CEC
Fix jumping timeline while switching channel groups in Guide window

likely other devices will now hv such audio pass through too.

Hi, I am planning on getting a Q10 pro. Are there any recommended sellers? Or is this the wrong forum to ask? I am planning to use it for Kodi (english Movie & TV shows), HK shows, China shows, Korean shows.

I noticed on lelong that the 2 most noticeable sellers are Demoncry and Unimax Pro, any one have experience with them?

Thanks in advance.

u can check what version it is now when u open it up, see if it shows 17.4 or 17.5.

or check at settings-apps, look at the info.

if default setting, it should hv already auto updated to 17.5.

this is auto done when playstore version gets updated.

play it, see it ok; if it crashes, u will need to manually install 17.5.1.

what box u used before? familiar with android, any app?

if not mistaken, u bought a used unit from another user who bought from a seller who can help u with details.

check it up!

Thanks.

It is a Kodi ver 16.X. Default probably ?

I m a bit confuse with your kodi update which more like a PC type way of update.

I m new to android box and apps. Never touch before.

Still using media player which is user friendly and great UI. But the youtube and some apps is dead already. Can't update anymore.

Yup, brought the used unit from user here. I do get help from him, read from site and ask question here to get more detail of what I can do with the Q5.

Kodi 16.x... this is one generation old, Jarvis.

You should erase it totally, i.e. uninstall.

Then install new Kodi 17.5 Krypton - get from playstore.

But that will give u a shell only, u need to build it up bit by bit or copy n paste a full configuration from somewhere.

It is hard for me to explain if u r a total newbie.

I strongly suggest u contact the original seller to help u revamp and update all the apps, maybe even firmware.

At least get a head start.

The media player functions, u hv no problem.

The android apps, file management and connectivity parts will take some time, learning, trials to get a good handle on.

When u become seasoned user, u can DIY everything all the way.

Quick question gurus. Can the Q10 Pro install apps in the 3.5" hard disk or is it all installed on the 16GB memory?

never tried that, think cannot.

even if u can, i wud think it cannot be good in that the response time will be slow, not smooth.

the box has plenty of flash memory, no need for that.

unless u r planning to install a thousand apps!

however, if u r torrenting or using kodi/quasar, u can set path to ext HDD for large files storage.

Noticed Q16 Quad in FTMC seems lagging when watching live games compared to newer box with Android 6 in Kodi Krypton... Haiz....

Takes to long to load or don't even load when using with Acestream

Why u want cheapest?
What do u want it to do?

Good things no cheap, cheap things no good...

If really want cheap cheap, can buy secondhand box or unknown brand.
But maybe dont work well, troublesome...

Be careful seeking the cheapest option. Check the Garage Sales section or various online stores.
