Could someone recommend which HiMedia model is suitable for functioning as a bittorrent client? The setup I have in mind is to have it connected to an external hard disk to download the torrents into.

It will be connected to the internet using Ethernet. Are there models which can work with a wired USB keyboard/mouse?

most if not all models can do the torrent thing. just you install the app, set the path right.

keyboards... this one is tricky. since not all wireless keyboards work well, it should be same with wired. do check with seller.

but for wireless mouse, ordinary ones will work.

i googled "soft dialogue loud music" and there are many ppl having this problem too.

what user suggest is turn on Dynamic Range Compression, but i don't see my q5ii player have this setting available for user.

I'm using default player. play from usb. firmware 1.0.9.

what speaker are you using?

last time my player direct RCA to crt tv and use the tv speaker as output, no such problem.

then after that i change to monitor speakers, krk rokit rp6 g2, this problem appear, noticeable but still ok lar.

now i downgrade to edifier r1280t, the problem is more obvious now. sad.gif

the weird is it has no prob at all when playing audio file like mp3. using default player too.

i didn't install any third party player or equalizer or anything. it's running stock app at all.

q5ii has 4 types of audio output:

1. hdmi (highest quality, hd audi pass thru)
2. coaxial (rca, digital but limited to dts/dolby, cannot pass thru hd audio)
3. toslink (digital but limited to dts/dolby, cannot pass thru hd audio)
4. left/right (rca, lowest quality, stereo only)

i do not know the speakers u r using but i think the issue is with the use of these speakers via l/r stereo input. perhaps u can check the speakers manual, see if there is control on the audio mix output for yr files.

i am using several connections - hdmi/tv, hdmi/home theater, toslink/hometheater, coaxial/home theater. i am not using rca l/r.

Sometimes source encoding / down mix sucks...

Your MP3 plays OK...so your movie source is the likely problem.

check the srt file name is same as the main file but ends with .srt.

if it is not, change that on pc.

if it works on pc, it should work on yr device if the name is correct.

Typically, that should work. What media player did you use on the box? Perhaps needed to enable subtitles display in its settings or try another like MX Player.

try another srt from another source for same file.

try another file with srt.

if all of them don't work, it is a special problem.

if so, i suggest u contact yr seller for help.

himedia players have superior codecs, plays more video-audio-sub formats than most players.

i hv not seen this problem in my himedia players.

Hi guys, I have a Himedia Q5ii I bought about 2 years ago, updated to 1.0.7 last year. All this while no problem, suddenly this morning cannot switch on. Still have lights on the button and network ports blinking, but the LED display and HDMI output nothing.

Any troubleshooting tips? Or time to get new one?

led display losing some dots is possible.

but if whole display gone and hdmi no output, not a good sign.

try checking the connections again.

last resort, consider flashing the unit and reinstall firmware 107 with the restore pin - but this will erase everything inside - hope u hv backup.

if no good, then likely hardware failure.

which will the first case i know of.

i have q5ii >2 yrs, still very good.

I don't have any problems reinstalling the firmware, as most of my stuff are in external HDD anyway. What's a restore pin? I know how to use recovery on phones for rooting etc but android TV is just... alien to me...

I'd love to continue using my q5ii, very reliable up to now!

at the side of the device where the usb slots are, there is a pin hole labeled "restore".

insert a usb drive with the firmware at root level.

when ready, push a pin or toothpick into that restore and hold it while u turn device on.

this method to erases everything in it, install fresh firmware.

after that, u need to to reinstall the apps from a backup if u hv one.
