Hi guys. Using this Himedia version. How to find for updated firmware and can any sifus teach me how to update to new firmware? The only thing i dislike about this player is how the subtitle dont have any option for shadows or outline. Difficult to see the sub even if changing the colors. Or maybe theres a way and im not that smart tongue.gif

My himedia q1 auto off by itself few times yesterday due to overheating.. at  the time nothing much was done, just browsing movies thru Kodi.. damnn.. my 2nd hand used minix neo x5 no overheating problem whatsoever.. i should be patience and buy another minix.. sighh..
*

i m surprised... is the unit in "open air" or inside a tight space?
my 3 units, with or without mini fan, no such overheating problem for 1.5 yrs.
maybe q1 not as good as q5ii/q16 in heat dissipation design...?

q2... not sure but the firmware, even old cannot be that different from q5ii or q16.
when playback, press menu button on remote to bring up subtitle options - u get all kinds of settings there.
to get rigth firmware for yr model, best to get help from yr orig seller.
i find it unreliable to dwnld from unknown sources.

anyway, for anyone interested in himedia androids, i suggest u not to buy just any model but buy the more popular models - to my knowledge: q5ii which has been succeeded by q5iii and q16. there is a lot more user support and tips on the popular models.

this one very popular, but not the china version. The European version is recommended because you can then install the firmware from futeko.com, even the hardware is supposedly slightly different. It better at certain kodi functions than the china version

I don't know are you having same issue or not but for official youtube app, there's no video, only audio playing, and just show a black rectangular box.. luckily i managed to resolve the issue by applying the update 1.0.7.. my version when i first received mine is 1.0.6..

Download the 1.0.7 update from here :
http://www.mediafire.com/download/6q3lmlkiycz5544/update.zip

Copy it to your sdcard root folder, go box settings/settings, system upgrade and select Local Upgrade

I managed to find this firmware from Himedia Vietnam :

http://himediatech.vn/huong-dan-up-rom/huo...29-1-2015-.html

If you succesfully update the firmware, you will have similar system information like mine :

As for how to root, download this file :
https://www.mediafire.com/?33tsc46erykeqt5

I got it also from Vietnam website :
http://itvplus.net/UNG-DUNG/huong-dan-su-d...-4k-dts-hd.html

Eventhough it said for Q5, I also managed to apply the root onto my Q1.. same update method, copy the update.zip to the root folder of your internal sdcard folder, go box settings/settings, system upgrade and select Local Upgrade

My system with root access enabled :

Hello I've just bought a Q3 and I'm coming from an HD600a. So I've got a few issues.
I'm using the "MEDIA CENTER" in the Q3 for my music and films. I'm connected to a twonky media server.
- Chapters in mkv's doesn't work.
- Can't find a noise reduction : activate/not in the menu.
- Pictures are a little bluried when i'm watching pics.
- We cannot disabled picture transition in a slideshow.
- When I'm in Upnp mode and i'm browsing my music folder, i can not go over folder 200. Ive got 552 folders in my foreign music folder. If i click on a folder wich is after 200, it goes back to home upnp screen.
- I've just tried to play a dvd folder with the MEDIA CENTER : NO SOUND !!!!!!!!!
. All of this were perfect with the 600A.
The good
- DTS HD master in "media center" playback.
- really Good sound with analogic outpouts.

Could anyone tell me if they have the same problem when browsing in upnp mode in a folder with more than 200 folders ?.
Chapters in mkv is a real issue for me.
Chapters works in xmbc but not dts hd master.
Where is the sound with DVD Folder ?

I am a Q6 ii user, here is some questions;

(1) What's the latest firmware to upgrade? and where to download the good one?
(2) Can it support Bluetooth so I can use my Bluetooth headphone? If not, can I plug in a USB BT into the player?

Facing low memory (internal storage) on my Q6II, couldn't install large files size apps. Any solution? I heard about Move apps to SD, Link2SD, foldermount, clean the cache but look like not working / not a permanent solution. Any other suggestion?

that won't get u very far.

4gb flash... the model is obsolete in terms of new large apps.

i have q5ii same specs almost, good for a few basic apps.

for bigger apps, u need to look around for latest 16 or 32gb flash models.

Too bad to hear that.
I'm thinking is there anyway to install the apps into the external SD card / external USB harddisk?
