Well i will say dont worry much...i was in your shoes when I was 18...but once i pass 21 - 22, my weight went up...i was very active with basketball, football and etc...and also i was actively eating also. Dont take ur current weight for granted....sometimes it will take time before ur weight shoots up...and when it does, control your food intake.

Constant workout and healthy diet will be a good start.

Do you look skinny? May be you have a low bone mass?

We instinctively think that eating more means more weight. But this assumption may not always hold true.

All of us have a different metabolism that is determined by your DNA which programs how much food is to be taken into the body.

Therefore, no matter how much a person eats if the body is not taking in the nutrients that it's not going to make the body cells grow.

Exercise may help to increase your body's biological metabolism which helps you gain weight (e.g., cells needing growth to maintain homeostasis)

Try different methods to lift your weight smile.gif

If your body doesn't obsorb them, it doesn't help.

You don't need to worry about gaining weight - lower weight saves you from many common diseases.

Don't worry as long as it doesn't affect your lifestyle. And play more sports okay? smile.gif

kinda dangerous to take alot of protein since it will lower calcium in your body and increase risk of osteoporosis.

Beware ya

I have lower the intake of meat, egg and milk product

Absolutely. Taking a lot of protein is not an equivalent of gaining more weight.

There are some genetic predeposition that affects how muscle and bone mass.

I do not recommend taking a lot of protein to gain weight, which may increase the risk of cancer.

There are many medical theories relating to this discussion. I won't get into details.

It would be better for you to explore these discussions and make an evaluation yourself.

Google: "Protein AND cancer". But be aware that there are different views about this depending what theories are applied.

Having said that, only "Taking a lot" would worry you.

Good luck smile.gif

not the full story though....

QUOTE
There is agreement that diets moderate in protein (in the approximate range of 1.0–1.5 g protein/kg) are associated with normal calcium metabolism and presumably do not alter skeletal homeostasis. Less than 30–50% of US adults consume dietary protein that could be considered moderate. At low protein intakes, intestinal calcium absorption is reduced, resulting in increases in serum PTH and calcitriol that persist, at least for 2 wk. The long-term implications of these findings are unknown, but recent epidemiologic data suggest increased rates of bone loss in individuals consuming such diets. Individuals consuming high protein intakes, particularly from omnivorous sources, develop sustained hypercalciuria that is due for the most part to an increase in intestinal calcium absorption. Whether an increase in bone resorption contributes to the hypercalciuria and in the long term results in higher fracture rates remains uncertain.

Bone is complex tissue that changes slowly. As such, it is difficult to design and conduct well-controlled nutrition studies in humans to quantify the effect of one nutrient on bone. However, given the increasing prevalence of osteoporosis and the clear impact dietary protein has on calcium metabolism, it is imperative that we gain a better understanding of the complex interplay between dietary protein and skeletal health. Toward that end, longer-term physiologic studies and eventually dietary intervention studies will be required to provide better-informed dietary protein guidelines for optimal skeletal health.http://www.ajcn.org/content/78/3/584S.full

The weight is nothing.
Maintain your health and gain better body shape are more important.

If you're 180cm and have 80KG, you're healthy? It can be YES and can be NO. Take an example,
A male with a big tummy(like pregnant) and "taufu" muscles(aka Fat) around the body. He's 180cm and 80KG. Does this count healthy?

I know that body image is socially important and can affect how people look at you.
However, if people get close to you and befriend you because you are good looking, it is really a true friendship? or true relationship?
I find my true myself through realising about who I really am, not for how I look.
What is more important is to look ahead because life is so short smile.gif
