I disagree, a subjective issue it is as the tuner have their own taste while we got our own thus the player will still have some to adjust n tune to their own preference hehe.

you're of course expected to work with the tuner to tune things to your taste. and any remainders you can tune yourself with the player. and thats that.

active setups you can have further tunings like cross over points, direct amp gains and what not. not something you can do on the fly while driving

eg: one particular song came up, sounds better with more bass, that one you can just lower treble/increase bass from HU, and thats just about it vs tuning cross over point to let the bass cross over higher to mid bass or highs cross over lower on the mids from tweeters

Actually I disagree to some extent too.

Passives can be tweaked quite a bit to change the characteristics of the speakers. A high end silver SQ cap, a Bybee quantum filter, batcap, mundorf resisters, etc all changes the characteristics of the sound.

So you probably can tweak your passives but a different kind of tweak. You don't fiddle with crossover points and all (even though you can) and instead fiddle with the quality of the frequency (?)

and most of the tweaks being mentioned by you or others, are not what "normal" consumers would be doing, usually already done by installers smile.gif

that is what i was trying to point out.

typically new wire. i dont see how you can just "tap" from the dashboard speaker unless you split the wire and have connectors to joint it, though they will be running same freq/settings, and the SQ would be totally terribad lol

disconnect the dash 4" and change to a component set...the wire can connect to the 4inch wire u had.

Added on September 19, 2011, 1:07 pmactive, passive all can change xover freq and slope and characteristic and etc.....

the difference is "how much effort to do it VS how much upgrade you get"

if one can't even understand the basic for active, there's no point to play with the passive. unless he only change the passive parts to get the characteristic which is ... sometimes waste of money.

Technically you should be pulling the wire from your HU / crossover to the door.

I'm driving 1st gen harrier, recently install with focal access 165a1, focal solid 4 and woofer focal 25a1.
My installer just place my tweeter at stock tweeter position, and speaker at front door original position. Just wondering the position is ok? And my power cable to amp is around 8m, rca cable around 5m. Just wonder there is any sound downgrade issue or not. The installer just installed everything then got sound done. No position tweeter location one. Amp gain i set myself. The boss adjust the setting on HU only.
And using Pioneer Deh-6350sd HU.
Audio quart 5m RM210 each. Duno how good the cable, the best can be found in shop..
other cable cost me around RM520, audio quart brand..

What is the next recommend upgrade? Sound proof the front door? Or buy a monoblock?

IMHO, go for soundproof smile.gif

Sifus, how do I remove the sub? Do I disconnect the wires to the sub and move out the sub together with the big piece of fabric sticking to the box? The velcro is sticky lol
