UOB Platinum Visa
Transaction Date : 2 April 2013
Posted Date : 4 April 2013
Amount charged : GBP 33.55
Converted Amount : RM 161.65
Final Exchange rate: 4.81818

I was always told by the customer service that they only charge 1% from the middle rate of Visa and it clearly shows that it charging a 2.7% charge to me now.

Based on the Visa rate of 4 April 2013 with a 1% transaction fee, the rate today was suppose to be only 4.741033... Called the UOB customer service, and they say they can't do aynthing now... Seriously it shows that they are really not sure about their work, I remember reading somewhere in the credit card T&C only charging 1% fee, does this mean a 1% from Visa + 1% from UOB??

Edit: Found the term saying "The conversion rate will be the prevailing rates of Visa International or MasterCard Worldwide, plus a 1% administrative fee."

Hi, guys.
I read through some pages, but I didn't get a firm answer. Hope you can help me out.

I'm going to make a purchase online in USD. I have both Standard Chartered Visa and Citibank Mastercard. Is there a difference between using Visa or Mastercard in terms of conversion rate? Thanks.

Not bad after you've factored in the 5x TP which is RM3.065 only.

yes, Maybank2card AMEX is still giving better rates after subtracting 5xTP and 5% Cashback (when applicable) comparing to Maybank2card Mastercard.
i'm always using my AMEX when charging transactions here in Philippines

I made a payment using MBB Visa on 9 May 2013:

Transaction Date : 9 May 2013
Posted Date : 10 May 2013
Amount charged : USD 214.33
Converted Amount : MYR 645.61
Final Exchange rate: 3.012

Rate on Visa International: 2.966 (9 May 2013), 2.975 (10 May 2013)

Difference: 1.44%, 1.53% (*corrected)

I'm confused. I thought the difference should around 1%.

Rate will be according to the posted date. Anyway, a difference of more than 1% is very normal and 3.012 beats the exchange rate offered by most money changers last week.

Transaction Date: 12-May-2013
Posting Date: 14-May-2013
Amount charged in foreign currency : GBP298.00
Amount billed in MYR : 1412.38

Final exchange rate: 4.738255

Visa exchange rate on May 12: 4.606619
Visa exchange rate on May 14: 4.614738

Which means Maybank Amex charged 2.778% over Visa exchange rate (with 0% transaction fee)..

but that means only 1.778% above other cards because other banks charge 1%?

If my transaction date was 12 May which is a weekend, that means i get the weekend 5% rebate as well?

it is well known that Amex charge higher exchange rate. I always use Master and Visa for oversea transactions.

Yes transacted on weekend so you get Rm50 rebate.
