Hi everyone,

Just saw this from Citibank

Effective 10 June 2013:

If a transaction is made in foreign currency, the transaction will be converted into Ringgit Malaysia using US Dollars as the base currency on the date on which the transaction is received and processed by Citibank and/or Visa International, MasterCard Worldwide or the relevant Card Payment Network (“Payment Network”).

The currency conversions will be based on Citibank’s prevailing foreign exchange rate and/or an exchange rate determined by the relevant Payment Network. This currency conversion will include any charges levied by the Payment Network for overseas transactions and a 1% foreign exchange conversion markup by Citibank on the converted Ringgit Malaysia amount, or such other rate as determined by Citibank and notified to you.

Just wondering if i m better off to pay for my oversea transaction before 10/June/2013 ?

hi all, noob here. how are we all comparing our rates to? i see some using wawasan as a comparison but the first page gives the link to visa and mastercard.

i didn't do my research and used my maybank2 amex for most of my overseas transactions cry.gif my only comfort is that most of my transactions were on the weekends so i still get the 5% cashback.

since i also have 2 Visas from MBB and UOB, i'm now trying to see which one is better. anyone compared these two before?

Can anyone tell if this is a good or a bad thing ? Would the transaction rate be even higher or lower after 10th June , is this initiated by Citibank , or Visa/Mastercard ?

For the past 3 months, I have a lot of transactions made in overseas. most of the time MBB Visa and OCBC titanium will give identical exchange rate or if cheap either one of them cheap by 0.01. This is the recent one:

MBB Visa: 32.5 Aud...RM 99.1 Exchange rate: 3.05
OCBC: 23 Aud...RM 70.43 exchange rate: 3.06
Exchange rate in visa 3.04

-transaction made on the same day

if considering 1% rebate or any promotion for overseas transaction perhaps better to use OCBC card. maybe too early to make assumption. if I have time I wish I can post all the transactions
