adele123  surprised that UOB is from SG, but they still charge 2.5% if you spend in SGD, unlike CITI, charge only 0.5%......

hello seniors,
first time want to pay  British Pound 200, online using credit card,

Which  credit card should i use to get the lowest amount charged to my card statement?

Hong Leong Visa,
PBB Visa,
Ambank Master card,
CIMB visa, CIMB MC,
MBB AMex?
Aeon Visa or any others suggested?

Say the rate is 5.50, estimated charge to me would be MYR1100 + ?

thank you all

Ambank wmc has the lowest bank charges, but if online payment, you only get 1 point per RM...

Generally, the spread by other banks/cards are 1-2% more....So for 200 pounds, it's maybe rm20 to 40 more....For small amounts, it's not significant....

Just got my statement.

Using Cimb Cash Rebate Platinum Credit Card
Transaction date: 29/1/2017
Amount: £225
Paid amount: RM1277
When I calculate in Mastercard exchange rate I put in all the numbers, it was roughly around RM1264. But somehow I was charged RM1277.
Is there any hidden charges implied to the card?
Kindly advise me thank you.

I'm not sure about AMEX, but for VISA, you can visit:

https://usa.visa.com/support/consumer/trave...alculator.html/

https://travel.visa.com/apcemea/my/en/travel-tools.html

both are identical rate

Hi,

How much will be the exchange rate & extra charges for using a credit card (CIMB VISA) overseas (Japan)?

Lets say 35,000YEN = RM1,400 (Rate; 100YEN=RM4)
Is it according to RM/YEN exchange or is it YEN/USD then RM/USD plus service charge 1%.

Would like to make a purchase and i can get an additional 5% discount using VISA but not sure if its worth using CC or the discount will be negligible by the exchange rate & service charge.

Thanks

Msian banks are non transparent in this respect, so you will get a RM figure more than the median rate, and more than visa/MC rate....The exact percentage is guess work by people here calculating, usually 1 to 2 %....

Ya lo, i always see a total RM amount right beside the foreign currency.
But i direct convert from these 2 figures, the exchange rate sometimes is better than money changer that i used.

The rate will always be better than money changers at msian airports, but worse than downtown changers...

Nothing beats the very competitive changers in mvm....

I don't know of any cc that gives rates better than downtown money changers nowadays....

However for a while in the past, perhaps 3 years ago and prior, some banks did convert cc foreign currency purchases at very good rate....Better than changers...
