Guys how many ppl here are using the provided d-link DSL-2640B?
Is it me or does anyone else notice that u can't get any downloads speed (single connection, e.g. from download 1 file from mediafire, microsoft, google.com) from int'l sites faster than 150kbps?? While BT and Youtube are fine... And Speedtest via speedtest.net are ok 3.8mbps, SNR all ok, line rate 5120.

My friend actually spent sometime figuring it out, and he finally pinpointed it to the DSL-2640B!! once he changed to another router/modem, the speeds for single connection downloads were flying!!

Firstly, i would like to confirm if anyone else has this same results with this modem?
2ndly, any suggestions on fixing it, without changing modem?

tks guys smile.gif

How long it takes for the technician comes to my house to fix the line?

I upgraded from 1mb - 4MB BB deal. I called 100.

But no 1 contacted me after that. is it a must for the guy to come before I can use?> Thanks

There shall be someone called you to tell you upgraded done. No need person come to upgrade unless got problem on modem or line.

usually less than 1 week...

you should go back to where you ask for the upgrade..like if you upgrade from reseller..then pls contact back your reseller because he or she will have the contractor contact number , then you can call and follow up to confirm when the contractor is coming.... i think call 100 is no use...

I upgraded via 100. Yesterday went TM point ask again, they ask me call 100.

Call 100, *** gao the Product department, only they cakap they will open report.

Checked the order, found out that there will be some1 coming over on Fri. Call the technician number which stated in the order, ask him come on Thurs.

This morning he call me back, cakap he will come later. GOOD! haha

Hi, all the sifus and masters out there
Just wanted to know if we wanted the TM contractor to raise the limit (not too sure how to call it!!) As we all know it may not be possible for us to enjoy the full speed; let say if we apply for 4Mbps package, the speed may only go up to 3.5 or 3.8 most of the time. From reading of this thread, but not sure my understanding is correct, we could actually ask the TM contractor to raise the limit, say until 5, so that the speed could be hovering around 4 or slightly higher than 4. Am I correct on this ?

The question now is how to make that request? Again from reading from this thread, we could call TM 100 after installing and "complaint" about the speed and TM might raise it after that. But, could we make that "request" while during the installation time?? to avoid all the hassles of calling up and making another date for the contractor to come again!!

If we could! how to make that request? ask point blank like : Encik, boleh increase limit-kah ? or any technical jargon need to use?

Thanks first icon_question.gif icon_question.gif

not sure true or not. Based on my understand and from what i saw in some threads over lyn, they said u call tm and cakap ur speed is 2.5 or 3 something instead of the 1 you mentioned.

Called it over and over again until they raise it to 5mbs.

This is my opinion only, please refer other people's view as well ya.

Since contarctor will be at the spot during installtion, they will do testing there. if the speed is like wat u mentioned, 3.5 - 3.8, guess they wont raise for u , instead of telling you it is normal. .. goodluck

Dear All, wanna ask.

I just upgraded to 4MB. But my cap is 2048. May I know will it be changed to 4096 automatically?

It is done in the system or what? Because the technician did not do anything on it.

Thank you.

Hopefully i wil call back the installer later.

Btw, since he came, my IP has changed to 218.111.XXX.XXX automatically. But cap remains at 2048 . So, what causes this?

Besides, the 218.111.XXX.XXX IP range , for me, is BAD. Because I cannot even access Sina Sport smoothly. Sometimes, it cannot even load. Sometimes, it takes time to load. I had no problem when I using 60.48 or 60.51.XXX.XXX ip range to enter.

May I know what is the problem?

Sorry newbie here.

That is why you need to call the installer as they have to solve the problem within 14 days from the date of installation before any technical complaints handed over to TM. 2048 is for 2mbps as 4mbps we are supposed to get 40xx minimum setting. Usually the installer will call TM center, asking the technical person in charge to open the port according to subscription. Or check your status order here, if any of the infos in there could help you further http://sams.tm.net.my/MarketingCenter/search.asp

Did anyone noticed sometimes the P2P throttling applied by TM is broken doh.gif ? After reconnect the P2P throttling came back alive. As a student house, it's essential to have this kind of thing to prevent someone using torrent application.
