Just got my 4mbps activated yesterday evening, which is not so common I am getting this at the rural area in Melaka. The DSLAM not too far from my house and upon checking the SNR I am getting >30dB ds and us, attenuation at 17dB ds and >7us, I am decided asking them to check if 4mbps really available at my area, and yes they did.

Jumper set at 5120 by TM side, eventhough the installer requested to open it at 4096, which is really a bonus according to them. The activation took more than an hour, at 1st I am observed that at the beginning my ip (forgot what the value were) is different from my current 175.x , speedtest strikes at 5mbps download for each test beginning from local server up to few servers in Asia, however pinging and upload are higher. After restarting the modem, the ip now read at 175. and the download now slowing down at 4.5 mbps. Anyway I am satisfied with overall performance.

i mean i went to my modem, no such thing as ADSL or SNR sweat.gif

There must be in any modem to check for snr and attenuation, for you are using Dlink 2640B, it stated under status and statistic.

very nice speed though.did u ask the installer so set the port t0 5120?
*
no, I am not. The installer called the TM ppl to open the jumper at 4mbps, but the TM opened it at 5mbps instead.

geez, I still can't get used to have 4Mbps

download til nothing to download sad.gif

cos files completed too fast, compared to my previous 1mbps

I'm so surprised that p2p speed is at its max without VPN, completely different than 1mbps that hardly hit 25kB/s

now i understand why some ppl not going for unifi vip 10 or 20  =.=

maybe the time i need faster connection than 4Mbps it's when I need to download files those are counted in gigabytes
btw I think I'm the lucky one, cos I just wanted to upgrade my another line, no more ports  shakehead.gif
*
Initially me too got the same feel, at normal browsing I feel nothing much different compare to my 1mbps as I am staying in rural area and 1mbps was so smooth. Until at recent, the sweetness of 4mbps can only be found in downloading stuffs and video streaming. Not to mention what I am downloading, but the size in GBs within a week is what I am calling as precious thumbup.gif

im not planning to use any vpn. so that means 4mbps is also throttle?
*
Not really, I am a heavy torrent user downloading stuffs. Good trackers do contribute to good downloading speeds, depending from where you take which in my case my fav is from Demonoid. My speed consistently at least at 350KB/s and max almost reaching 500KB/s.

installer came my house just now, after settled all the stuff,i juz realise my spd was only up to 1.5~1.8mbps, then i call back that fella, he told me i hav to wait 24 hrs so that my spd will only rise to 4mbps??!  hav u guys experienced that too??
*
Usually installer will call TM center to open the port for your subscription after do some checking, even TM already open the jumper accordingly doesn't mean that we can have full speed at spot. I am experiencing few hours of older speed at 1mbps eventhough my port has been set to opening at 5119.

Some are lucky enough to get their intended speed at the same minutes and some at few days. So we have to wait. nod.gif
