Anyone have they hdmi port working without HD service activation. Previously my first Beyond PVR unit had the HDMI port working without the HD service but after they change my Beyond PVR after a hard disk failure, the hdmi port does not work without HD service and they say I need to get HD service for my HDMI port to work. I use the AV port for my LCD TV downstairs and the HDMI port for my TV in the bedroom. any sharing on how you got your unit's HDMI port working without HD service would be greatly appreciated.

Guys, I have just installed Byond PVR 1 hour ago (upgraded from Byond) and found this thread cos I want to see if there is a way to have "stretch" or "fit to screen" mode like normal non-PVR Byond.

Not sure if someone has found a way to do this, but I'm a little bit pissed about being "forced" to watch in pillarbox since zoom is totally not acceptable. If anyone knows how to do this, please let me know cos driving me crazy.

So, just a caution to those who didn't know. You will lose "stretch" when upgrade to PVR.

Well, i'm pissed if the 4:3 feed is stretched... prefer to have pillarbox instead, zoom is for letterboxed 16:9 video in 4:3 feed. You can use your tv aspect ratio setting on your tv's remote control if you rajin to change it everytime you want to watch HD channel.

P/S. Biasakan diri... like me...

Mine have been installed from Byond set to PVR set on this morning.... rclxms.gif
The sad thing is because my Astro cable was concealed inside the wall and this PVR set need to run for 2 cables
if you want to record & watch the HD channel at the same time... doh.gif
No alternative I have to install another cable in my Living Room that is quite obvious one... cry.gif

My advice would be upgrade to normal byond set which is foc and then later upgrade to pvr then you pay RM150 for it, if still need to pay RM400 to upgrade from normal old decoder to PVR.

QUOTE(ronnie @ Jun 13 2011, 08:21 PM)
@beebee: I think you dont need to pay anything for upgrade to SuperPack from old decoder (non B.yond type). Pay additional RM150 as installation fee if you get the B.yond PVR

thanks for the answer!

Put your decoder to stanby mode, let it update the software version. The latest version is 1.0.3.001 Oct 04 2010.
If successful, you will be able to chose the ''fit to screen and Stretch'' function.

There is no way u can use that HDMI port if u are not subscribed to the HD services..astro does not allow the use of the HDMI port on their end if u are not a HD subscriber..so basically, no HD services=no HDMI port activation..

No u wont lose "stretch" when upgrade to PVR..Please do not spread wrong information without proper investigation..

The reason you do not have the "stretch" option on ur Byond PVR decoder is because u have not let ur decoder do the proper update to the current software version..

leave ur decoder in standby mode for 15-30 minutes for the update to be carried out..after that u will have all the aspect ratios available including "stretch"

so, just a caution, do investigate before spreading caution smile.gif

Yes, thanks for the reminder. Guess I was too trigger happy today. I saw the installer did the boot screen and waited, so I thought he updated it for me.

My mistake, sorry guys. Confirm got Fit to Screen. Sorry for the scare.

Happy with PVR, no need to gaduh over which channel to watch now. I even used the Stacker de Stacker option cos of my concealed wiring. Pain lah have to pay RM 300 more, but at least no need to hack my walls.

(f) if your condo is not HD-friendly, you may not enjoy HD.
(h) If you split the HDMI using splitter, you can enjoy HD but if you use normal composite or component cable, you will not get HD quality

Astro B.yond HD channel motto should be:
QUOTE
Quality content over Quantity HD channel @ good HD channel bitrate & quantity
