Sorry but u cant deny the facts..just look at CH180 or formerly known as Muzik Aktif..THAT, my friend is clear evidence of Astro's politicking..and now government want to give Astro to people in Sarawak for free??? Those Astro were paid for by currents Astro subscribers who paid for the government tax..government tax money is for government to spend for elections..

So let me get this straight..

SKY NEWS SD will be on ch514..
SKY NEWS HD will be on ch700..

True? and its from 25-29 April?

IINM the Royal Wedding is on the 29 April right? Hmm..my feeling is the SD has a bigger potential of staying rather than the HD channel based on the ch number..and correct me if Im wrong but theres not enpugh space for HD channels rather than SD channels? Or is there not enough space to add both?

But I bet u, its only a soft warning from one friend to another..just to satisfy the rakyat..juz to show, government 'care' for rakyat..but they already kawteam with Astro..

Where did u hear that from? I dont think anyone has heard that before..

Sky News should be on at 12 midnight tonight right? Dunno y but kinda happy to get something from Sky at last..even if its news..really hope it will stay longer than the 4 days..if Astro have on the Measat list, u not use it right? Astro First channels are such a waste of space..

N since I dont have Astro On Demand, can I ask how many channels do they actually need for that? Are there any bad effects if they reduce one or two of those channels so that they can add a new channel?

No..it is available for every Astro subscribers

How come can watch HD version if ur not a news package subscriber? I fit follow that rule than u should not get HD version right? Or is it free for all Byond subscribers only? Meh..im going to balik kampung for tuesday and wednesday..no news package there..haiihh..

N the best thing is..if Im not mistaken, the Sky News we are getting is the UK version too..not international version like BBC or CNN..its similar to the Australian Network channel..

Yeah I noticed the clock..thats the best thing bout Sky News..gives us something fresh away from BBC and CNN..and since Im a football fan, I really love that they have no restrictions that CNN and BBC have showing UK football news with pictures and many other stuffs..but by the look of things, they replace the UK advertisements with a rundown of the news headlines..Im fine with that..

God I hope Astro keeps this channel..

I bet Astro are analysing AC Nielsen and also doing their own survey on how many people are watching this channel..preview channel only for 4 days? Thats a first..just add it into the news package, and atleast some people will add that package..Sky has a huge following..Asto are just blur on what people want..

or could it be that the channel is only for all subscribers on the event of the wedding? 29 April 2011 from 1pm, free for all subscribers, SD n HD..from 25-29 April, HD only free to Byond and news package subscribers, SD free for news package only? It doesnt actually say there its free for everyone from the 25th to the 29th..unless u can find another source that says so..

If thats the reason, then better bungkus CNN, BBC and Al Jazeera coz all those or not the in the interest of current gomen..look at BBC and Al Jazeera..these two channels carry some pro-Malaysian opposition news that can hurt the gomen more than Sky News can..gomen already control all the local news channels content..they obviously think they can control international channels as well..

simple fact is, Astro are dumb to recognise the best channels out there and in turn provide the crappy stuff for their subscribers..

Added on April 25, 2011, 3:50 pmI've been switching between the SD and HD versions, and HD seems to have more and better layout on the screens..they have the clock according to UK time on the bottom left hand screen, and they also have this information bar on the right hand screen that shows weather updates and UK newspaper front pages..would love to have this channel made permanent..and their chicks arent that bad too

BTW, are there any South East Asian country that provides Sky News HD on their network? or are Astro the only one due to the Royal Wedding..? The channel doesnt seem to be made for international viewers, which is good coz of the difference with the other news channels...

Yes..do that..pity those who dont have Byond..but those who do, Im sure u prefer the HD version

Yes its confirmed..problem has been fixed..Now all Astro subscribers (normal subscribers, Byond subscribers, non-news package subscriber, news package subscribers) can all view Sky News on channel 514 for SD version and 700 in HD..

Now lets hope this channel becomes a permanent channel.I dont expect it to stay straight away, but probably in the near future..

Im seeing the calls for Sky News to be kept permanent is growing louder and so it should be bcoz of the quality of the channel..surely Astro are considering it since they have given the channel a 4 day preview for an event that only takes one day..are Astro testing the waters on whether this channel will be popular among viewers? Of course its popular..its something different to what we already have and based on Astro's FB, its already popular..

Again though, a question for all the sifus out there, which South Est Asain or even Asian country actually carries Sky News or Sky News HD on their network? Coz my understanding is that Sky News is actually intended for viewers in the UK and Ireland? Are there any countries around our region that has it? I dont think even Singapore has this channel..
