LATEST August 2012 - Before you sign up for a HSBC Credit Card, reconfirm if the annual fee is automatically waived with 12 swipes. Below is what cyang81 reported:
QUOTE(cyang81 @ Aug 29 2012, 10:06 PM)
My HSBC Signature have been charge RM600 annual fees on 27/Aug/12 without auto waive.
I have swiped more then 50x @ RM 10K+++
Have to call HSBC CS just now to ask about the annual fees auto waive 12x.
The CS told me now no more auto waive for all HSBC CC except HSBC Advance & Premier.
When I told him to cancel my card, then only he try to offer to waive the annual fees.
But I have to pay RM 600 first for this current statement and HSBC will credit back the annual fees in next statement billing.
*
Main Benefits of HSBC Credit Cards in general

Until end of 2012, the HSBC MPower Platinum Credit Card i earns you 8% cash back for petrol, dining and groceries. But like always, you need to read the terms and conditions.

Effective 15th March 2012, HSBC Tiered Interest Rates on Outstanding Balance will be increased. Click below link to see it
HSBC Credit Card Outstanding Interest Rates 2012

Updated July 2014 - when we call HSBC to beg for annual fee waiver, nowadays HSBC will tell us to pay the annual fee upfront and then they will credit us back the payment. Well, I won't tolerate that kind of ridiculous insincere offer but will demand that my annual fee be waived on the spot. Click here to read my article titled "My HSBC Visa Signature Pisses Me Off Big Time" where I shared my experience on annual fee waiver for my HSBC Visa Signature and hopefully you can learn a thing or two from it.

I think this is a good thread. As a matter of fact, i think every banks should get their own thread instead of the general one like Credit Card Version xxx blah blah blah. We can keep things simple and easier for everyone to get the information they are looking for. What do you guys think ? While we already got what we wanted (sub-forum), you've got to admit, things are still kinda messy in here. And instead of such a long name for this thread, how about just HSBC ? Anything that is related to HSBC credit card should only be posted here.

An no lah. I not big supporter of HSBC but I do have their Plat card for years. If you read CC V15 thread, then you'll know why I started this thread. But I will say I am a big supporter of Maybankard 2 American Express where now charge all my transactios to it except for Petrol and places that does not accept AMEX.

I scanned the "Year Round Privileges" but couldn't find anything related to Hush Puppies. Do you know if the 10% discount is on top of the discount given during SALE?

Yah, that's why I propose this sub-section to Admin so that we can have specified discussion for a specific card.

True, if the merchant do not accept Amex, then HSBC VS the way to go. But for Starbucks, use AMEX and get free 1 for 1 drink and 5% cash back on weekends tongue.gif

I've decided to keep my HSBC MasterCard. Initially thinking of canceling it before the next anniversary but will keep it due to the good discount given when booking a room through www.agoda.com thumbup.gif

i don't know what other bank credit cards are like but with HSBC credit cards, there are so many terms and conditions to get freebies out of it. Like last year's MegaSale Campaign, you need to shop at odd hours to WIN back 25% discount. Notice i type win in caps cause you may not get any. Another example is with the new signature, if you spend rm50 you can get 1000 points (promotion) but you must first register by sms. Tell me which busy executives want to play this kind of game? HSBC credit card managers need to give straight forward incentives for people to use it, not create hoops here and there for card holders to jump through and miss.

Agree 101% I gave up on HSBC contests needing us to sms. As for HSBC promotions at malls for freebies, please note that some transactions are not applicable especially those at Departmental stores like JJ, MJ and Harvery Norman. Check with HSBC booth before you go make your purchase.

Exactly. I keep receiving SMS from HSBC about promo, but need to register first. I don't know how it works so I didn't bother registering.

I'm perfectly in support of this idea but still a generic cc thread is still useful for those asking generic questions regarding the use of their credit card. Personally I don't think opening up a specific thread just to answer some generic question is useful coz the question 99.99% of the time can be answered in the next post.

Oh yes .... everything about HSBC but HSBC marketeers, please keep out or you'll be booted out as there are other thread to market your card/products.

+1. I hate those requiring to register coz it is so complicated to follow and SMS contest are sometimes ambiguous in nature.
Not to mention, you'll get charged for those premium SMS that you need to send/reply to.

I was told that I get 0.5% cash back for every transaction I made (include petrol). GST waived once you collect full amount of RM50 from the 0.5% you got cashed back.

cash back must be amanah card, that card cannot go clubbing la. And why want to accept 0.5% when there are cards giving minimum 1% cash back.

I got my HSBC Gold Visa with the GST waived. I apply through a promotion in Mid-Valley. The sales agent told me that they give the GST waived only in the promotion.

A question here, do you guys have the HSBC Security Device?
