i don't know what other bank credit cards are like but with HSBC credit cards, there are so many terms and conditions to get freebies out of it. Like last year's MegaSale Campaign, you need to shop at odd hours to WIN back 25% discount. Notice i type win in caps cause you may not get any. Another example is with the new signature, if you spend rm50 you can get 1000 points (promotion) but you must first register by sms. Tell me which busy executives want to play this kind of game? HSBC credit card managers need to give straight forward incentives for people to use it, not create hoops here and there for card holders to jump through and miss.

QUOTE(koh_424 @ Apr 17 2011, 11:47 PM) Applied HSBC Amanah GC today @ Midvalley. Awaiting it arrive to my house . Saw a bunch of HSBC credit card promoters at MV. Asked them a few questions and they don't know anything. Such a shame for a bank with really good service in HK, but run-of-the-mill customer service in Malaysia who in many cases provided incorrect information, and at times just down right rude (in particular those CS from Philippines). The promoters on the ground level at MV last weekend were promoting the new signature card. I've been under the impression that the card gives 5 x Reward Points for the life of the card and at the same time i've seen a T&C stating that this 5X feature will be valid until end of the year 2011. They insisted that the 5X applies for the life of the card. The other thing which i believe they incorrectly stated was that the 5x applies to the first RM200 spent in each month. The brochure clearly states it applies to the first RM1000. I suspect they are actually freelancers but they insisted that they are from HSBC. Nevertheless, HSBC should not have let them roam free without ensuring they are well versed with whatever they are selling.

QUOTE(kanethesun @ Apr 19 2011, 09:04 AM) I just swipe RM3.2k last 2 days I plan to apply for Easy Payment Plan The HSBC has 1 plan which allowed card holder to repay for 10 months and 20 months, with a upfront charges. Just curious is it ok or should I go for CIMB Balance Transfer? 6 months for 0% and 12 months for 1%? If it were 1% per annum, i would just go for this. Debt is to your advantage if it is under control. However, it were 1% per month, would definitely opt for 0% option.

QUOTE(airline @ Apr 20 2011, 11:05 AM) Update: 5 times reward points is for life time The 5x times reward point is for first rm1k locally very month If overseas spending is rm1.5k every month Hope it clears all doubts The T&C (available on their website) states otherwise regarding the 5x points. I also called them earlier and they confirmed that 5x points promotion ends on 31 Dec. Attached thumbnail(s)

Besides, i also CC 2 letter to Bank Negara in regards certain empty promises which i noted the person who i talk to. and there is no charge for this monthly statement in mail/post? Added on April 26, 2011, 8:38 amQUOTE(airline @ Apr 20 2011, 02:48 PM) Asked higher level already, yes until end of 2011 But they will extend it Well this is just great! the T&Cs confirmed it earlier. So always read the fineprint. Many people have been misled, including the card promoters themselves. This post has been edited by ascend: Apr 26 2011, 08:41 AM

QUOTE(g4gary123 @ Apr 27 2011, 02:17 AM) just apply the hsbc bank gold credit cards...wanna know about is it no any special discount when u spend on any special shops normally? Browse through HSBC Credit card privileges on their website. HSBC offers unattractive discounts at places that i don't patronise. Except for the 50% discount on buffets at Grand Millenium! QUOTE(hye @ May 5 2011, 11:20 PM) That's the whole idea ... consumers spends like mad with the hope to get some prizes but later make a mistake. Fussy criteria is to ensure spending happens ... T&C are written with the bank in mind, not the consumer. I normally avoid these promos as I don't feel the bank is sincere. Just want me to spend my hard earned money using their card. So I just say NO! I couldn't say it any better. HSBC is up to their usual bag of cheap tricks, yet again. This particular 'promo' requires swiping the card at least 7 times during May, and each swipe must be RM50 or above. Waste of time, IMO. Mind you, it's not a guaranteed cash back either. 2011 Megasale Cashback is here. Rules are different and more misrepresentations this time. Can get 50% cashback if you shop certain items, at certain time and certain week and, importantly, only if you win the 'draw'. Minumum spend per week is RM500. 50% of RM500 is RM250, but there is a clause that says you can only get back maximum RM100 per week. Go figure! HSBC, I'm so impressed by your CC marketing team! They are so clever.

The 5x reward points only applies to the first RM1000 (local) spend per month. For overseas spend, up to the first RM1500. Added on June 5, 2011, 11:21 pmFor those interested, HSBC has a RM50 cashback promotion for new CC applicants. It's called Megasale Acquisition Programme. HSBC megasale cashback campaign The original T&Cs state that electricals are not considered as part of 'shopping'. Now in the revised version, the word electricals is nowhere to be found. Added on June 19, 2011, 9:08 amQUOTE(azraeil @ Jun 18 2011, 01:01 PM) All this promotion by HSBC is like trying to win a lottery. I've never bothered with all this nonsense. I just buy what I need to buy and if I get rebates, good for me. Yep that's exactly what the card holders should do - buy what they need at their own convenience and not buy at HSBC's convenience (their nonsensical terms & conditions). HSBC tempts you with carrots at two times your arm's lengths. This post has been edited by ascend: Jun 19 2011, 09:08 AM
