If you talk about oil & gas industry rm7k for 5years experience is normal..even in banks is also possible actually, my friend was once offered rm4500 by an international bank for their training program (investment banker I think) when he was freshly graduated..he might reach 7k if he accept the job in 5years time..

those training program offered, usually you do not get benefits of a full time employee. Adding on, banking industry the salary hike is damn freaking low. Somehow i love their bonus and reward program, if you can bring 200 - 300% of your targeted revenue, be prepare to receive a FAT PAY check at the end of the year.

I used to have thoughts of heading off to SG after working for a period of time however after working in Msia for 4 years i found out SG is more towards a business HUB and not an IT HUB.

Was wondering what is the average pay check for a IT Specialist / IT Technical Related role in SG.

I am going to work in singapore soon.
Probably i going to open 2 bank accounts.
one is for them to bank in my money, another one is, once i receive my money, i will straight take out maybe 50% or 60% and quickly put inside there so that i dont spend it.
more like a fix account.

It's time of the year to pay tax. Please do your part if you are taxable. It will be in good hands.

I think it depends on when you receive the bill from IRD. I checked with them and they will start sending out the bill from June to September. Alternatively, can we walk in to the Income tax Dept and pay them there and then? Just curious, have not paid tax before in SG. First time doing it.

In the letter of income tax..its stated clearly when/how u can pay your taxes...u do it GIRO...monthly basis like installments or u can pay via NETS...at SingPost or those SAM machines and i think even AXS machines

1) I control myself by limiting my debit card purchases to plane tickets and minor online purchases only. I pay the rest of my expenditure with cash. That way you will feel money flowing out of your pocket and tends to deter you from spending further. Never ever get a credit card....you will be tempted to spend future money. With every single cent spent on your debit card, you will feel the burn in your pocket.

I disagree with this point...
If u know how to use it well u actually save more...
On average I save about 50 - 100 from my entertainment food bills etc every month
Just make sure u can pay the full amount end of the month can liao...

I've been able to consistently save >30% for the past 8 months here. Here's how I do it:

1) I control myself by limiting my debit card purchases to plane tickets and minor online purchases only. I pay the rest of my expenditure with cash. That way you will feel money flowing out of your pocket and tends to deter you from spending further. Never ever get a credit card....you will be tempted to spend future money. With every single cent spent on your debit card, you will feel the burn in your pocket.

2) I track my daily expenses on excel file so I can monitor where the bulk of money flow every month. For example, suppose I notice an increase in food expenditure, I will watch out more on that the following month.

3) I only withdraw $100 weekly and try to survive on that for 1 week. Only withdraw more when absolutely necessary. If I spent $100 in less than 3 days, that will kinda prompt me to recheck my spendings.

4) Match my holiday spendings in Malaysia with my daily expenditure in sg (apply a factor of 1.3 if it's a major    holiday). E.g If I spend $12 daily in Sg, I am only allowed to spend rm30 daily in Malaysia. If major holiday, I am allowed to spend up to Rm40 daily.

All these budget measures serve as check and balances for my personal money management.
*
Here's how I do it

1) Married and have kids without having a maid.
-- We don't really have much time and energy left to spend money.
-- looking at childcare fee alone will make me think twice when spend money. I gave away at least two set of iphone every month sweat.gif When my kids sick and stay at home for 2 week, one iphone4 go down the drain for nothing.
