CIMB MASTERCARD is basically useless except on Sundays. OCBC Titanium & Maybankard 2 Cards offer much better benefits.
I think it's not worth to renew the card. What is the anniversary month of your card? If still got enough time, quickly go apply other cards first. If approved, then quickly cancel the card before GST comes in.
The last sentence interests me. My current card's anniversary is on september, meaning GST appears on the statement. If I succesfully get a new card on april, and cancel my current card before september, do I still need to pay GST for the old card? The GST for new card will be charged at the date of issuance right?
Want to be clear on this to avoid having to pay GST for both cards.
Hi Gen-X, your blog is very well written and informative. i spent 3 hours reading it. Bravo
Like you and other have pointed out, I am keen on MBB2 card or OCBC Titanium. Just to confim my understanding on MBB2 card:
- the 5% cash back on any transaction is only for weekend capped at RM50. true?
- do i get Treatpoints on weekends too? or only during weekdays?
- the Treatpoints cant be redeemed for cash, but can be redeemed for vouchers. true?
- is AMEX accepted by Petronas?
- Maybankard 2 MasterCards will be available from April 2011 onwards. Meaning can only get the AMEX+Visa pairing now, while for AMEX+Mstercard pairing, after april?

M2U can be so troublesome to those who do not have any savings or current account with Maybank. I now have to maintain two different M2U accounts just for my Maybankard 2 cards

Will open one savings account with them next month for the sake of convenience.
Please bear with me, assuming i can use cimbclicks to settle my credit card statement of other banks, is there any service charge? Or to avoid the above quoted problem, is it advisable to open a Maybank account?
Thank you
