Please heed hye's advice. AKPK is your best option. If you are still 'saving' money for your wedding now...it is very unwise - I am being as polite as possible. Start tracking your expenses and create a monthly budget based on your income. Be realistic and do note that post-wedding expenses will be even greater. Cut your credit card today - nobody here is joking. There is still hope if you make the right choice now.

Thank you for the note.
I think a lot of people think I am rather sarcastic in here (although I am speaking the truth) thus often my words are ignored. I'm alright with that ...

not sarcastic but maybe you just dunno the right way to communicate with people... if you know most ppl ignore your words, then you don't have to reply what.. if you meant to help, you should reply nicely la.. besides, the way you reply to most of the members here is like everyone looks idiot to you.. hmm.gif  you should learn from some seniors here how they reply and giving advices, maybe you should mix with more people to improve your interpersonal skills.. not to be sarcastic but just telling the truth. biggrin.gif

I'm amused by your remark. You should also learn as to when to give a meaningful answers in the right thread. Not every thread is a Kopitiam like thread.
Many times in the past other people have remarked politely on your post in the cc thread to be misleading (not this ver) but yet you do not ever take heed.
Plus never you assume responsibility for any of your posts. Need I continue further? (And for once you sound mature and writing maturely)

I got your attention didn't I ?

guys i got a situation here...

I used my card to pay for maxis iphone installment plan few months ago, but after that i upgrade/change my card to to gold card (with different card number)..

Now i want to cancel the old card but stucked with the installment....
What should i do?

I went to bank and they say go back to maxis..But i dont think maxis has any clue/authority to help me..I called to maxis helpline but they ask me to walk in to maxis center...
Afaik, when we do installment we are actually dealing with the bank, the bank had already paid the full amount to the shop..

Anyone had such experience b4?
*
Maxis is right by saying that they have no say in your case.
You see the moment you signed up for EZ installment ... they will post it to the bank, obtain bank approval code, claim the monies from the bank and the bank pay Maxis minus whatever fees. Please understand the process is completed once it gets here.

From here on, it is the bank's responsibility to claim the monies from you. And more importantly you are stuck with the bank's T&C and this will impact you should you wish to exit/transfer. (It's the bank's way to retain you as their customer) I'll suggest you to evaluate
1. Whether the bank allow you to transfer the installment to the new card.
2. Consider paying the remaining balance and exit the installment. (you may be charged a fee)
3. Or last but not least ... just bite the bullet and stay on.
* Read up the contract which you signed when you did the installment. This will give you a clue of what should you do or cannot do.

That's why I personally never liked long term installments.

Yes ... this can happen. If you don't want the card then call immediately to decline.
Delay then the likelihood of you being charged the GST is definite and please don't complain when you have been warned.

Hi, I'd like to share my thoughts on your indecision.

If you spend RM2,200 using MBB2Amex, you get 11,000 TP which equivalent to RM50 shopping voucher.

Assume that same amount of spending using Amex Gold cc earns you 11,000 MR. You may use 10,000 MR to redeem RM50 cash and still keep 1,000MR (equivalent to RM5) as balance.

Is the remaining MR worth the GST? It depends on your total spending.
*
Gen-X was just making an indirect reference to his conversion preference. Everyone has one and I'm sure Gen-X knows what he is doing.
For example while everyone here talks about cash rebates and/or cash equivalent ... I actually have a preference towards Enrich point redemption. Again, MBB2/AMEX fits my need very well.

I would not keep Amex Gold CC as only the MR points is the plus point right now. I might however upgrade to the Amex Plat CC as it gives 10x points in certain places + lounge access.  But RM50 + RM800 AF.....
only if one travels alot or goes to plat partners alot i guess..
*
Yeah .... the only downside to AMEX is the higher conversion factor when used overseas making it unattractive if it is a personal travelling expenses.

Same here ... sometimes I'm a bit out of touch with the promos. You guys here are better at tracking the promos.

Can we set secure online password for online purchase for CITIBANK Credit Card?
*
No. Citibank cc does not support it.
Please do not have the illusion the system is secure. Unless every single merchant adopt it then only it will be considered secure. There's still a lot of online merchant does not adopt the Securecode system.

Wrong area to ask this question. Perhaps you do not fully understand what are you asking about.
In case you did not realize yet, you are asking a charge card question in a credit card forum.

Bonus is not fixed income. Unless you have a documentation saying that your company provide 13th month salary (which basically translates to fixed income in the form of contractual bonus)

Called Esso/Mobil Smiles Hotline today and lodged a feedback regarding non-acceptance of AMEX at pump.
He said CS cannot intervene operations of dealers but he will take note and convey to relevant department for review/discussion.

I also complaint against non-acceptance of all kinds of credit card for purchase in Mobil Mart of a Mobil station in my hometown. Again he said "CS cannot intervene operations.........."

Well let's see if ExxonMobil management really do their job.
*
Not to spoil the fun but although O&G companies dictates the look and feel (and most of the petrol stations for standardization purposes), there are areas where they do not interfere. This area is one of them ....

Just out of curiosity ... where is your hometown anyway ? (If you don't mind answering it in here)

Guys ... good job on the first page but IMHO there's a lot of information there and perhaps some creative use of spoiler will make it tidier.

It's incredibly long and I'm not sure as a first timer I want to read all that.
Just an opinion.

I have a question:

When one applies for credit card from Standard Chartered and received a call from Standard Chartered asking them to read out their IC number, office address etc does that mean the application will get approved for sure or this is just a battle won halfway per say? Just curious.
*
Hi bro rockefeller ... long time no see.

If this happens ... means the bank is merely confirming the information that is in the application form.
It does not mean the application is approved nor not approved.

I see it as OCBC trying to generate usage of its card. Perhaps they suddenly realize the public is pulling back because the card is practically not giving out anything for their customers who spend beyond RM1k.

Those who feel lucky may try but I'll prefer my spendings to be rewarded right away and not be subjected to a game of luck just to be rewarded.

I'm interested to get a credit card for myself..is there any bank to intro?
currently i'm looking at OCBC titanium card with 5% & 1% rebate..somemore there are GOLD coin champaign for that card(is it??)

but i duno whether is worth to apply or not.
*
Don't be lazy. You could get most of the information for the first page. And the OCBC campaign has been discussed before ... there's a function called "Search".
We do not intro banks here ... you need to understand your needs, spending patterns, income and match it with the credit card that you are eligible for.

@cannavaro

Since you are outlining some of the T&C, you could have at least outlined that the promo is subjected to a first come, first serve basis. Once the allocated amount for the cash back is exhausted then there's no more cash back!

It sounds like the customer is sure to get the cash back but in actual fact it is not.

@chemistry

I couldn't have agreed more with your statement on Citibank vast payees. If anyone decide to switch to something else then be prepared for some inconveniences.

I totally agree with this statement!
Too many folks here come in here and blame the bank for putting them in debt whereas it wouldn't have happened if they think before they draw their credit card.

QUOTE(zcatz @ Mar 3 2011, 11:14 AM)
another good service by MBB.

i did cancel my CC last year in August, before anniversary to avoid the GST. before cancel, claim all point.

in Jan, i want to do BT as MBB give 0% for 12mth. then, i call CS & they said just apply for reinstatement & my acc will go live again. new card will be sent as i cut the previous card. rm50 will be charge for reinstate. ask about GST, CS said will be charge on the 1st bill.

now, c my statement in m2u. no reinstate charge & no GST. BT successfully done. hoho.. lucky me. hope next month also no charges for both.
*
Don't jump for joy .... GST not necessarily charged on the 1st month. Normally to appear in the 3rd or 4th month.
Appreciate if you could amend your last sentence as well. Too many folks here will become too happy and start to think GST can be avoided.
