Speaking of CL , if I pay promptly but still used around 80% of the current CL , will they upgrade it after 1 well ?

You can always request.

Below is the statement in Citibank Malaysia's website in regards to request for increase on credit limit:

You may ask your credit card company to increase your credit limit. The answer will depend on your total financial picture. You may qualify for a higher credit limit if you always pay on time, if your income has increased or your debts have decreased, and if you always pay more than the minimum due or your balance in full.

The above was posted in my blog titled Malaysia Credit Card Annual Income Requirement and Credit Limit. Link below

http://creditcardsmalaysia.blogspot.com/20...ual-income.html

p.s. Miles or whomever start the next thread, reserve a post for update after the 1st post. Last time we talked about something like listing all the places we get 5% cash back with OCBC Titanium MC.

Did you click "I'm interested in MBB website"?
Did you call CS to enquire about the card?

If no, then you are the first person to report that you got MBB card approved without doing the above.

Other received offer by MBB for pre-approved Maybankard 2 cards and some even got 10,000 TP to offset GST. Refer to CC V14.

I tell you, I kind of pissed off, MBB should reward early birds 10,000TP to offset TP. Somemore my Maybankard 2 Amex card don't have Platinum printed on it sad.gif The new ones come with the word Platinum printed on it as reported in Amex Thread.

user posted image

The MBB 2 Visa blue is really ugly for a Plat card.

Click here to read about my MBB Dua application which was kind of frustrating.

To all, today I wanted to check if MBB processing my MBB Dua Gold Card application and found out MBB Plat CS Toll Free line have menu to separate MBB Plat and Maybankard 2 Plats. I guess that should not surprised me as MBB Platinum cards should be ranked higher than MBB Dua Plat.

However, I found out something interesting, when I call MBB CS today, I gave them my New IC No and only my Amex Gold Credit Card was shown in the system but none of my MBB Dua and MBB Platinum cards. So I gave the CS my MBB MC Plat number and then the system showed Petronas Plat Visa and MBB 2 Platinum cards and AMEX Gold Charged Card numbers but my IC record shows my Old IC No.

Click here to see My Credit Cards in Nov 2010. Must go update a new post soon with MBB Dua Plat, EON Visa Signature and MBB MC Plat. Now considering to cancel AMEX Gold CC or not because it gives MR where can redeem for cash as compared to MBB Amex can only redeem for vouchers.

Called Amex CS and was told that the RM1million rebate(for the 15% rebate campaine) was fully claimed on 21/2/11(Sun). Will wait and see if this is correct. Forgot to ask when this rebate will appear in the statement.
*
hopefully that's true, on 20th Feb was at Pavillion having lunch, I was greedy for the 15% cash back so used my Amex Charged Card instead of my OCBC TMC or MBB Dua Amex. May end up with only 3X MR with my charged card.

MBB removed the 6x TP from the weekend transactions, and replace with 1x TP,

Maybank targets 500,000 new cardmembers with Maybankard 2 Cards.

Click here to read MBB Press Release at MBB website.

Where on earth are they going to get half a million "new" cardmembers. No wonder you see many getting MBB Dua approved without even filling up an application form or requesting for it.

Click here to read my comments at my blog on the Press Release above.

IC, salary slip, appointment letter, bank statement, oso want my graduation cert ... really dun knw why she want it -,-'

tell me to wait for the result , 1 to 2 weeks ~

For Maybank Platinum Card, the annual income requirement is RM120K. For Maybankard 2 Cards, the annual income is RM60K and it should be stated in the application form. The sales girl must be blur lah. And why does MBB want your cert?

Click here to read my post on Malaysia Credit Card Annual Income Requirement and Credit Limit. I have a table showing income requirements for different banks non co-brand credit cards.

Coming back to my earlier post where I mentioned that MBB CS Platinum Toll Free line now got menu for MBB 2 and MBB Plat. The annual income requirement for Maybank Platinum Visa and MasterCard is twice the income requirement for MBB Petronas Plat and Maybankard2 Cards. There is a difference between Maybank Platinum Cards which is with it you can gain access to Maybank Private Banking Centres unlike the Maybankard 2 Cards Platinum Cards. And also with the Maybank Platinum Visa and MasterCard you get 2X for overseas transactions unlike Maybankard 2 Visa and MAsterCard.

Esso/Mobil IOI -5% (I pump at Petronas)

AMEX is accepted in all the above merchant outlets.

Ronnie, what to confirm above, do you meant for Jaya Jusco Deparmental and Supermarket?

Jaya Jusco Departmental Store I know OCBC TMB gets 1% but Jaya Jusco Supermarket should get 5%. Reason why I say this is because I do get 5X MR with my Amex Gold Credit Card at Jaya Jusco Supermarket.

after 3 months working on my new job, wanted to apply a C.C to "reduce Stress" >.<
mainly because of my high spending of Fuels, where it could be up to RM350-400 per month... roads to my office could easilly find both Esso, Petronas and Shell (petronas + shell side by side + esso @ jejantas + shell near office) and (shell near office -> esso @ jejantas )
So mostly will pump both shell / esso OR petronas if required
Considered PBB Esso, but after calculation @ only RM8 Per month (400/100*2%) , After march 31 2011... and for Citi Shell, with only RM6 per month (for Silver card Holders) + Extra RM90 annual fees PA = extra charges....) What cards would be recommended to be taken if this is the case?
read through 1st page, but due to salary limitation, highly doubt could get TI and those that needs more then 24k pa salary... +_+"
would like some suggestions on what card to take (Currently still have my dad's suplimentary C.C From Citibank, normal Citi Choice CC W/o any rebates from all fuel purchases, only Reward points that aren't very useful i think >.<)
anyone do enlighten me on this matter smile.gif

Click here to read my article titled Malaysia credit Card Annual Income and Credit Limit to check out what card have free annual fee.

You have few options:

1. For entry level cards, go to bank website and read more on the following cards,

1.1. UOB OneCard where you can get 2% Smart$ Cash at BHP only. But then you don't get Esso 1.5% cash back.
1.2. Alliance Bank Classic Card or You:niques Card where they do give cash back for petrol but since you only spend RM400-500, the cash back tier is low. Go read more on it.

2. If you read the link above, I mentioned that you still can get OCBC Titanium and HLB Essential if you really really want it. Go pledge FD with them and you'll get the card with Credit Limit same as your FD pledged.

3. Get Public Bank Debit Cards, take a look at their Esso Debit card and see if it will benefit you as the cash back is also based on tiers.

And if you do pump at shell, go get Bonus Link Card.

Last but not least, you can try apply OCBC Titanium and Maybankard 2 Cards eventho your income have yet to reach the Income Requirement. No harm trying if you really want the cards.

I do notice that MBB's Transaction Description is separated as Jusco SMKT and Jusco DEPT ... maybe different MCC.

Thank you, must remember not to use OCBC TMC at JJ Supermarket. We do need a post on OCBC 5%. Ronnie, will appreciate if you can post again all the places that you have got 5% rebate with OCBC TMC and update periodically. And the next time anyone starts a new thread, you try to post it soonest possible so that it be at the first page.

Total after deduction of epf/tax/socso?

Including fixed allowances like travel allowance?

Where income is from salary only, the amount stated in your EA form. For others having income in addition to salary, the gross amount you state in your Borang B.

Hi guys. I have a friend who is intending to get her first credit cards and she has decided Maybank is her bank of choice. She earns approximately RM 3,500 monthly.
She has been using Amex Personal (Green) Charge Card all this while and intends to get credit cards now to allow flexibility in repayment.
Question is, should she get:
1. Maybankard 2 Combo of Gold Visa & Amex
or
2. Maybank Visa Gold Card & Amex Gold Credit Card
Which is wiser you think? Points wise. She insists on having one Amex credit card and one Visa credit card and intends to maximize her points earnings.
*
Ask your friend go read my post at my blog on Maybankard 2 Cards, you can email her link below
http://creditcardsmalaysia.blogspot.com/20...an-express.html

Since your friend willing to pay RM100 GST for MBB Visa and Amex Gold CC, ask her go get Maybankard 2 Cards AND OCBC Titanium MC. So she'll get all three main cards in Malaysia i.e. AMEX, Visa and MasterCard for RM100.

QUOTE(zenquix @ Feb 28 2011, 04:31 PM)
Actually I suggest making a post detailing places you get 1% (when you expect to get 5%).
3) less avenues for ppl to complain (they tend to it alot in the forums) -? post 5% get 1% -> complain list wrong, we bluff them etc. etc. . on other hand, if post 1% but get 5% it will be "good for them!"

hahahaha, you are right on.

Can i apply for any local cc with basic 1k? My salary after plus allowances, deduct epf, etc around 5k.
I applied hsbc amanah today, the guy say confirm can. But im having trouble with maybank. I need a local card too. Any suggestion?
*
Like I mentioned in my reply on annual income, if you pay income tax and if you state you gross annual income in Borong B > RM18K, then yes, you qualify for credit card.

Come to think off it, the list may be long as mentioned by zenquix, What you should do is post it below and get TS to link it to the post so you can update anytime you want. Then when a new thread is started, TS to PM you and you post soonest possible. Better you have "control" of the post so you can edit it instead of TS.

Yes. Wawasan Sentosa is a money changer at Mid-Valley Megamall located at the Lower Ground Floor, Centre Court. They provide one of the most competitive exchange rates in town. The rates are almost as good as the one at Bukit Bintang (near BB Plaza) and those money changers in Chow Kit.

As for Maybank's own exchange rate, it is always so high. Not even the actual foreign exchange rate used for their credit card is as high (not even after factoring in the 0.5% admin fee for VISA/MasterCard).
*
Please post together MBB rate because I want to compare with buying bank draft for my son tuition fee especially if you transact in USD. Sometimes RHB will give me slightly lower than counter rate.

Yah I noted MV and BB money changer on weekend the rate almost the same as MSN USD/MYR rate.

Can all give me some comments, i received 3 type of Platinum card from Maybank. Which is Maybankard 2, Petronas and Amex Black. Why their issue too many card same time, just fill up upgrade card only.. ? And will i get any Tax charge, since i'm not going to activate it.

BTW, i'm mostly use in oversea, which card better, don't think the maybankard2 will benefit me. And that Maybank2 card consider Platinum or gold, look classless wherever with platinum words =_=ll and I select from platinum card range not listed. And 5X point how to work it at oversea? Is it like USD100 X3 X5 point?

Currently i'm holding petronas since their didn't charge any annual fees to my account, if change the other, scary have to pay for it.
*
Wah, you must be big spender to be offered AMEX Black tongue.gif I guess you referring to the Maybankard 2 Amex Plat where I call it MBB Dua Amex.

Like Miles said, cancel the MBB Petronas, no point having it since got Maybankard 2 Visa.

1. Maybankard2 AMEX with 5% on weekends and 5x TP
2. SCB Business Visa with 0.5% and 3x ChoicePoints
3. Maybankard2 Visa
Which of the above cards gives lower Forex rate ?
*
Maybankard 2 Visa. If not mistaken, winner have posted before SCB bank rate very high. Amex charges 2.5% but with 5X maybe will break even.
Click here to see comparison of Amex rate vs MBB Petronas Visa I posted in 2009 at my blog.

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Mar 1 2011, 10:42 AM)
You do get all the usual Platinum benefits.
Not sure on this as we're still not sure how's the exchange rate for Maybankard 2 AMEX is like.
*
Just to add. there are three main difference between Maybank Platinum Visa/MasterCard vs Maybankard 2 Platinum Amex, Visa and MAsterCard.

1. Maybank Platinum Credit Cards Annual Income Requirement RM120K, twice that of Maybankard 2 cards.
2. Maybank Platinum Visa/MC grant you access to MBB Private Banking Centres. Maybankard 2 Platinum don't.
3. Maybank Platinum Visa/MC gives you 2X points for overseas but Maybankard 2 Visa/MC 1X.
4. I got to go check the Travel Insurance Amount to see if they are the same.

And to add, there is one very big difference between having the Platinum printed on the Maybankard 2 Amex. Without it, you cannot enter Gardens Premier Toilet for free and got to pay RM5, hahahaha

Anyway, I just listed most of the banks Customer Service Contact numbers at my blog. Click below to read more.

his comparison is just based on his assumptions and not actual cases. By assuming that SCB charges 1% itself is flawed because the actual rate is much much higher. Winner the best to tell us about using SCB for overseas transactions. Waiting for him to reply.

If you click the link I provided above for my overseas transactions in 2009, HSBC is almost as high as AMEX and I would reckon the same for SCB.

I see it as OCBC trying to generate usage of its card. Perhaps they suddenly realize the public is pulling back because the card is practically not giving out anything for their customers who spend beyond RM1k.

Those who feel lucky may try but I'll prefer my spendings to be rewarded right away and not be subjected to a game of luck just to be rewarded.
*
OCBC should counter MBB Dua by reverting back to their earlier promotion where the cash rebate was capped at RM120, or offer max rebate RM100 where it is cap at RM50 each for the 5% and 1% cash back. This would wipe out Citi Cash Back Plat, HLB Essential & Fortune credit card and make OCBC talk of the town again. OCBC marketing - hope you guys reading this smile.gif

Hope you guys can help me, Currently I have Maybankard 2 Amex/Visa and Petronas Visa Gold cards.

I'm just wondering whether I can have the Visa Petronas to have lower CL instead of having the same CL with Maybankard 2 and sharing? Now I have 3 cards all sharing the CL... I don't use the Petronas Visa much now as I use Amex for more TP, only pumping petrol I'll use the Petronas Visa.
*
All the cards will have share the same CL, by lowering your MBB Petronas CL would also lower your MBB Dua CL.

Well, if you pump at Petronas, then you should keep the MBB Petronas. The MBB Dua Visa put in drawing. Having said this, make sure you get more than RM50 in return in a year with the MBB Petronas.

I am extremely busy recently and I have just glanced through the last few pages of this thread.

I made some transactions in Singapore lately. Actually SCB's rate is not that bad now. However, this time around I did not split my hotel bills using different cards. Different transactions (different staffs bought) using 3 cards were done within a day.

OCBC Titanium MasterCard: S$1 = RM2.4263
SCB Preferred World MasterCard: S$1 = RM2.4298
Maybankard 2 Amex Platinum: S$1 = RM2.4495
*
From above SCB MC almost same as OCBC MC. Question now is how about SCB Visa.

And you know what, zenquix is correct, Alliance Bank MC rate is competitive. In Nov 2010, my Alliance Visa rate was higher than DA and OCBC MC rate in SG. Last month in SG got my wife to use DA MC and Alliance MC and both rate almost the same.

I am still waiting for my MBB statement to compare MBB Visa vs MBB MC.

Maybe SG not a good place to compare overseas transactions. We should compare for countries where they convert the local currency to USD then to MYR.
