If you look at singapore RRP 768 means around RM1800, that is official price... here i think should be replacing desire, so should be around RM1700~1900...

For recent Singapore price u can always refer back to whymobile website...

All smartphone battery life is bad... my dz now left around 60% after slight browsing since 12 till now and quite some numbers off calls...

Just tried NFS shift on it. Quite smooth IMO.

Does anyone know any good GPS apps, besides the locations provided by HTC it self?

Retail without contract - this is what I find " window shopping " at Far East Plaza and Sim Lim. Anyway Msian AP prices not far off at RM1.9k - if so happen you are in Spore than only worth buying there

Yeah la faster processor same crap battery. I remember those days my dad would always say mobile phone has no battery and has to cut the call short and than how it became ridiculous to say the same thing when the battery improves from NiMH to Li-poly. Now we are back to that stage or simply just carry two phones. laugh.gif

Only invited media knows the place. It is so secret that none of those invited mentioned place and time, except is in PJ

Worse, some blogs reporting the official retail will be RM 2599 - unbelievable considering Spore official retail is slight under RM 1900

Digi bringing it.

Added on March 18, 2011, 1:57 pmQuote from Source

" On contract, DiGi is offering RM550 subsidy for 1 year contract and RM800 for 2 years, making the device priced at RM1449 and RM1199 respectively. If you’re an existing contracted DG Smart Plan customer, unfortunately there’s no upgrade or contract extension plans at the moment. HTC Malaysia has also mentioned that the Android 2.3 Gingerbread for the Incredible S will be coming in June. "

Tempting.

SGS 2 is in a totally different league. If you want the best spec the market can offer now, go SGS 2. Just my 2 cent.

For me, I am thinking Incredible S or Desire S... Both are pretty similiar but of course IS is better in terms of spec.

Why do you say it feels low in quality?

There are reviews around and they dont really have any complains on it being "low quality"

The reviews i've read says that it has a rubberised feel instead of plastic feel which is very different.

And apparently it feels nice to hold it in your hands.

I'll be able to confirm this when i get my set around midnight tonight tongue.gif

The back cover quality - is it crucial ?? Just look at the Galaxy S - the back cover quality is well condemn by many but does the buyers really care ? 9/10 buyers will buy a case , at least a resin backcase for the phone protection

Ok, based on me.

1. Very decent outlook and size. ( found the DHD hard to hold over this )
2. Very smooth when multi tasking
3. Did not crash when whatsapp got spammed as hell!
4. Impressive camera ( what u expect from 8MP! )
5. The Gorilla Glass helps alot i guess!

Cons:
1. Speaker can be a little soft. ( can download app to boost headphones though )
2. Weird charger. Bundled as a USB drive and a charger.
3. Find the QWERTY keypad a little small.
4. Inbuilt storage is only 1gb

This is just based on me la. Sorry if its wrong anywhere tongue.gif

frankly do not expect miracle on the battery life... i have not really saw a smartphone's battery life can last for 18 hours of heavy usage... means it will not last the whole day if your usage on heavy side... my old wildfire or desire z battery will left only 20% around 5pm if i call a lot (1.5 hours), play games or surf web a lil and also sync & read emails... all those are on GSM network, if 3G network it is worst... my worst case is by 3pm the battery left only 15% on GSM network or on 3G network around 2pm left around 20% only... now i'm always on GSM only...
get back up battery or power charger by Mili, Sanyo or others source for back up... mostly i plug my phone to my car charger, now planing to get another battery to swap around...

it is because we have a middleman call SiS over here. when HTC officially comes over even AP sets can get HTC warranty (like in SG). there should be a contract and when it expires we profit. right now even DiGi gets their stock from SiS.

The problem isn't external SD card..even if i put 32GB also no point coz a lot of apps is dependant on the internal storage. I already have an 8GB card in my Desire. A lot of apps are still stuck in internal storage and also the data it stores, which can accumulate to quiet a lot i think for apss like news and mails.

Which is why i want to ask whether the Incredible S has the same issue. There's only a miserable 120MB for apps/data in the HTC Desire.

RAM not so important. HTC Desire only got 576mb or so...smooth as butter. And SGS also very smooth, no problem.

But is this the USABLE amount? Does it partition again into smaller partition???

The HTC Desire only have 120MB available to user despite the internal storage is 512MB. The rest hogged by Android OS....

There's one thing that is so confused to me about that paragraph of text.
So does that mean it will be available in SIS store or their authorized retailers around the end of April?
Then when will DIGI launch IS?

Incredible S pawns Nexus S rclxms.gif

The recently launched Nexus S is probably one of the most overpriced smart phones in the local market today (this is of course not considering absurdities like the Vertu et all). This is rather odd considering a similarly speced HTC Incredible S that was launched on the same day is close to RM500 cheaper than the Google phone.

Is the premium on the Nexus S warranted? Some seem to think so. The supporters claim that the Nexus S delivers a pure, unadulterated Google experience and that being the only device currently available that’s running the latest version of the Android OS — Android 2.3 Gingerbread — the additional cost is warranted.

But is it? Is the Nexus S a better phone compared to its closest competitor the HTC Incredible S for it to command such a high price? Spec for spec how would both of this top shelf Android devices compare with the iPhone 4?

user posted image

Here’s how the devices stack up against each other.

Processor
In terms of processing power, the Incredible S edges over both the Nexus S and the iPhone 4 with its massive 768MB RAM and newer Snapdragon MSM8255 coupled with the Adreno 205 GPU. To the user this means much improved graphics performance as well as better efficiency that is very likely to yield better battery life.

It’s worth pointing out that the Samsung Hummingbird Arm Cortex processor in the Nexus S is identical to the one powering the Samsung Galaxy S that was launched in early June 2010. This means the processor on the Nexus S is three months short to being a year old — an eternity in processor years. Having said that, independent testing have revealed the Hummingbird S5PC110 to be a competent processor and delivers performance on par with the newer Snapdragon.

Where the Nexus S excels is in its graphics performance attributed to the PowerVR SGX 540 GPU being inherently better than the Adreno 205 in the Incredible S but the additional RAM in the Incredible S should square things off.

Meanwhile, the A4 processor on the iPhone 4 sits in the middle. While still based on the Cortex A8 chip like the other two devices, the A4 is newer compared to the Hummingbird in the Nexus S but underclocked to run 777MHz rather than the possible 1GHz clock speed.

Overall, all three devices offer competent performance in terms of responsiveness and processing power with all three using different ways to deliver a slick user experience. No complaints here.

Internal Storage
At first glance, it would seem that the Nexus S and the iPhone 4 has the advantage over the HTC Incredible S with both offering 16GB of internal storage while the HTC offering only 1.1GB. But if you consider that the memory in the Incredible S is expandable up to 32GB using Micro SD card and that both the Nexus S and iPhone 4 doesn’t support expandable memory then advantage is back on HTC’s side on the account that it is potentially capable of holding double the internal memory of the Nexus S and iPhone 4.

Clear win to the HTC Incredible S on this one.

Display
There has been much debate about the lack of Super AMOLED on the Nexus S. Many see the Super LCD on the Nexus S that are shipped to Malaysia as inferior. In our experience, there is really no discernible difference between the two display technology, not to the naked eye at least. So in this respect we have no qualms that both the Nexus S and Incredible S uses 4-inch Super LCD screens.

Although the technology are similar, the displays on both the Nexus S and Incredible S behave differently. We note that the refresh rate and white balance on the Nexus S is better compared to the slightly slower refresh rate and warmer tone on the screen of the Incredible S. So in this case we chalk up a point for the Nexus S.

How does the 800×480 4-inch Super LCD screens on both devices compare to the 960×640 3.5-inch Retina Display on the iPhone 4? Again, just by looking at it we struggle to find any difference between the three devices. In fact, having compared all three, we’d still stick with the Nexus S as the device with the better display with its cooler colours and faster refresh rate, all things being equal.

Battery capacity
We haven’t had the chance to test both the Nexus S and Incredible S extensively so we can’t say much on the battery performance but on battery capacity alone the Nexus S leads the pack with a 1500mAH battery compared to 1450mAh on the Incredible S and 1420mAh on the iPhone 4.

We’d like to point out that battery capacity only tells one part of the story. So without extensive testing we won’t be able to say which device has the best battery performance.

Camera
In terms of camera specs the Incredible S is way ahead with an 8MP sensor and dual-LED flash for its rear camera and a 1.3MP forward facing camera. Both the Nexus S and iPhone 4 get a 5MP read camera with single LED flash and a piddly 0.3MP forward facing camera.

In terms of video recording capabilities, both the iPhone 4 and Incredible S can shoot 720p videos. Unbelievably, the Nexus S can’t. This strikes us as very odd considering that the Samsung Galaxy S that the Nexus S is heavily based on can shoot decent 720p videos.

While we can’t comment on the camera performance of either the Incredible S and Nexus S, we can’t accept that a flagship phone like the Nexus S is not able to shoot 720p when its hardware is perfectly capable of doing so. Disappointing.

So that is some of the key features that separate the Nexus S and the Incredible S. From this, it does appear that the Nexus S has its fair share of shortcomings when pitted against a class competitor. But what about the cost of ownership of these devices?

For customers who are interested in taking up a contract for a cheaper up front payment on the devices we’ve crunch the numbers for you and sumarise it in the chart below. And once again the Nexus S stands out as a not so good value for money purchase.

user posted image

In the cost of ownership comparison chart above, cheapest plan (in the case of the Maxis Android and iValue plans) was chosen and discount the fact that the cost of phone calls and SMS can skew the final cost of ownership. This is done to simplify calculations but these assumptions don’t detract from our objective of finding which plan with which device is cheaper for you in the long run.

And as you can see in the chart, the HTC Incredible S with DiGi’s Smart Plan produced the cheapest cost of ownership across both 12- and 24-months contract by some margin. Surprisingly, the cost to own the Nexus S is even more expensive than owning a 16GB iPhone 4. Considering that the iPhone 4 is generally perceived as a premium product it’s mind-boggling to think that Samsung would want to price the Nexus S higher.

Does Samsung perceive the Nexus S as even more premium than the iPhone 4? If they do then they are delusional. The Nexus S is made mostly out of plastic while the iPhone 4 uses strengthened glass as its primary construction material. How is it possible for plastic to cost more than glass?

At the end of the day
Well as far as Android devices go, we’re struggling to find the appeal of the Nexus S.

Pure Google device? Gingerbread? All these arguments are moot considering that the Incredible S will get a Gingerbread update in June. As for pure Google, although we don’t have any qualms with the plain vanilla treatment on the Nexus S, there’s really not much wrong with the HTC Sense UI skin on the Incredible S either. In terms of UI then, it would seem the decision making will come down to preference of whether you’d want your Android in plain vanila flavour or with some UI garnishing on top.

But one key factor when making a smart phone purchase is cost. And with the lack of expandable memory, less pixel count on both front and rear cameras and the glaring omission of 720p video recording, it’s hard to come to terms as to why the Nexus S costs so much yet at the same time the HTC Incredible S can offer so much for RM500 less.

If it was my money going to the purchase of one of these Android devices, it will go to the HTC Incredible S.

nice...planning to get IS as well...last weekend, about to get an IP4, but heard about the home button jammed...so tried at Switch on demo unit..and surprisingly, it's true..the home button is jammed..u need few time to click it before it able to function.for such expensive phone, it should be more robust...i know some will say it is abuse by ppl seeing it, but that is normal for everyday phone usage..

i target IS as it have touch key instead..so chance to spoil might be low as it's not mechanical..IMHO..hope to get from garage sale..AP set..

This analysis is all wrong.

1) The HTC Internal storage sucks...probably left 400MB to 500MB for internal user data. It is an Android pitfall...The Nexus S probably have over 1GB for internal app/storage like the Galaxy S...external card dun mean shit if your internal app space is full. Iphone probably have no such issues.

2) 8MP vs 5MP...no difference. Only an idiot will buy the MP story in this age. Small crapp image sensor with high Megapixel does nothing but creates more noise. HTC is known for crappy cameras. Samsung generally have superior phone cameras.

3) Hummingbird with 540 pawns the Qualcomm with Adreno 205.

The only real advantage i can think of is the 720p video recording, but if it's crappy like the HTC Desire 720p recording, then it's useless.

The only real advantage ever with HTC phones is the Sense UI....they simply cannot compete on specs with other phones.

1) Never had one Android before so don't really know the story.
2) Agree, smartphone/handphone camera always sucks, it may be acceptable but don't take it and use as your main camera.
3) Agree as well, if you read articles and reviews about it, definitely don't need explanation.
4) It is rated in 21fps, so regardless of the resolution, the video recording is still crappy, any video recording that is rated under 29.97fps which is the DVD rating, it sucks.
5) Nothing much need to say about it, that's the reason I wanted so long to have a HTC android phone.

1) When u use one, then u'll know...it's one of the Android's worst problem...you simply can't install anything once internal storage is full with apps and data cache.
2) yes, but HTC is super suck. I've used Samsung Omnia 2, SAmsung Wave 2 and HTC Desire. Samsung photos simply pawns all HTC including DHD. HTC camera tends to give bad color reproduction...red turns to purple...just plain bad.
3) Actually, 24fps video is pretty ok. Not sure about the IS, but my desire is hopeless in 720p....it lags in recording....useless. Compared to the butter smooth 30fps Wave 2....no fight at all.

But if you talk about overall usage experience, HTC Sense is still the best.

And between SGS and Nexus S, i'll take SGS anyday....what's the hoohaa with plain vanilla Android 2.3?? It won't solve the problem (1) either coz it's all too legacy in the apps.

hrmm i dunno about other phones, but my Desire Z retains its 1.1GB internal storage pretty well, which translates to 1.1GB of user data for me. The same will probably apply to the Incredible S as well. Users correct me please.

And the amount of apps to fill that 1.1GB space is quite a lot. The game data folder will most probably be stored on the SD card.

Not saying that 1.1GB is the point to stop increasing internal storage, but I think it shouldn't be a deterrent to purchasers.

If you have 1GB is quiet ok, HTC Desire has only 120MB....some people reported DHD only has 400MB to 500MB...i doubt the DesireZ have full access to the 1.1GB...space still need to be allocate for OS and phonebook internal storage.
You should install the 'DiskUsage' app and see.

1) What I don't know is that how big is an app could be? Because in my Nokia 5800 case, there's only less than 100MB internal phone storage needed to store messages, contacts, apps and files. But Symbian apps usually used around average of 500KB to 1MB. So still consider okay and can store above 40 apps if you store files in Micro SD, so no big problem installing apps (Of course you still can install apps in Micro SD as well), so if you say IS have around 400MB to 500MB left, if apps only used around average 10MB to 20MB, I think that is still consider fine.

2) If you are not into photography and video recording, then nothing much need to say, if you are, then you know the difference.

Nope, 1.1GB all available to me. As of currently, I have about 0.89GB left on my internal storage (not that I install tons of apps). Checked under settings -> sd card and phone storage.

Owh, maybe the reduce in available storage in stock phones is due to HTC Sense. Which makes sense, literally. You need space to store all those eye candies that HTC Sense brings.

Nokia 5800 was my last phone b4 changed to Android...LOL. Symbian cannot compared.....Yes, with 400MB, the problem is not as persistent like the HTC Desire, but some people reported that SGS has 1.6GB usable. It's not only apps that is store in the internal storage i think. Also the data of the app, for example, all your widgets...news, FACEBOOK, twitter and e-mails, all these will use up space in your internal storage as time goes by when news/mails/updates are pumped in. And there'll be a lot more fantastic apps on the Android compared to the Symbian and you'll want them all...and they're FREEE.....LOL.

On a side note, there seems to be a different lock implemented in Incredible S. The DHD and DZ were rooted with the same method, but the Thunderbolt is rooted while the Incredible S isn't coz of different implementation of eMMC lock. PSNeuter appears to give temp root but the team at XDA can't make it stick upon reboot. Not to mention the devs are slow at picking this one up (unlike the G2/GZ which had cyanogen jumped onto it the moment it was announced).

A lot of apps can only be installed INTERNALLY in the internal storage. There's no way to move them (unless you do some hacks which can fool the SD card as internal storage....too much trouble and risk if you just want to use your phone). I can see in my HTC Desire...a lot of small small apps all cannot move...only maybe newer apps and none critical apps can move to external storage.

But with 600MB, the problem should be less prevalent then on my miserable HTC Desire.

Generally i am happy with the HTC Desire except this internal storage problem and the crappy camera problem. Camera not so much issue...plan to buy a dedicated Pro-sumer camera anyway...but the internal storage cannot solve. sad.gif

But i suppose with 600MB, this should be not a main issue since it's like 5 times the usable storage of the HTC Desire.

what's with the argument about the internal storage? i currently have around 300 apps installed in my DHD, and still got remaining 700mb of internal storage. most of the newer apps can be transferred to the SD card, i know most of them still have some critical files inside internal storage but those only uses a very small amount of space, mostly 2 to 3 mb max, so i don't see the relevance of large internal storage.

The way things are going, i can still install roughly 300 more apps into my phone before internal space runs out!

this is what i find funny for IS... if there are front camera and it is not usable for Video calls, it is pointless...

maybe their future upgrade of OS will enable video call for the front camera? (any news about this upgrade? or is it really impossible to do it?)

The mainstream Android version does not support video calling, but some handsets have a customized version of the operating system which supports it, either via UMTS network (like the Samsung Galaxy S) or over IP. Video calling through Google Talk is planned for Android 3.0 (Honeycomb).

The htc IS has 1.12 GB for you to install apps - that is a lot of space. After I install all my apps ( nearly 80 ) there is still 845 MB free. You need not consider any apps2SD option with so much space. For heavy data aassociated apps eg dictionary, references and games - all additional such data will be auto install on the ext sd card

I don't think it has anything to do with OS; the Galaxy S when shipped with 2.1 can do video calls. This was almost a year ago. Of course Nokia phones have been doing this for years now.

^ ^It is the OS. Android does not currently natively support video calls despite supporting 3G internet and voice calls. Pretty ironic considering a popint in the Android vs iOS squabble is Facetime which only works in WiFi.

I guess in the world where everyone has a data and voice plan, it's not hard to request the other party to install some app to enable video call thru data connection. But then it'll block out all non-androids. lol.

It is the OS problem, SGS have it because Samsung developed on their own android phone.
Stock android doesn't have this function yet, which HTC didn't follow Samsung footstep to develop this function.

JUst only a day using this htc incredible s , I must say in terms of performance, outclass my previous Galaxy S ( modded with voodoo lag fixes and froyo). There is virtually no lag in it unlike the Galaxy S. The SLCD display is beautiful, clear and colors great and is much better than my present Galaxy Tab. GPS lockup is close to immediate - tested with both Papago X5 and Sygic Aura this morning
As like all previous HTC I have used, volume is too low /soft for notifications, videos and music

people don't realise the "cheap shiny plastic" back cover is designed like that to make the phone light and indeed the samsung galaxy s is one of the lightest (if not the lightest) 4" phone out there. There other thing to consider, the lighter your phone is, the less damage it will suffer when it takes a fall. A very nicely built Nokia N8 with one piece aluminum construction is very nice to look at and hold but if you drop it, chances are it will suffer more damage (due to its mass) that a plasticky Galaxy S.

Heard reviews and people says so...
Even though DHD have dolby and srs effect, it doesn't help much if you use loudspeaker.

QUOTE(DJFoo000 @ Mar 22 2011, 10:53 AM)
hrmm i dunno about other phones, but my Desire Z retains its 1.1GB internal storage pretty well, which translates to 1.1GB of user data for me.

*
Yes... desire z have 1.1gb for use... i installed more than 20 apps and i have near to 900mb free

QUOTE(Matrix @ Mar 22 2011, 10:57 AM)
If you have 1GB is quiet ok, HTC Desire has only 120MB....some people reported DHD only has 400MB to 500MB...i doubt the DesireZ have full access to the 1.1GB...space still need to be allocate for OS and phonebook internal storage.
You should install the 'DiskUsage' app and see.
*
All space depended on service provider too... some telco at overseas might preloaded some apps and stuff... so hard to say... desire has only 120mb??? That is as bad as my previous wildfire...

QUOTE(Kadajxii @ Mar 22 2011, 11:10 AM)
Dude, newbies here, wanna ask ask abt the memory storage stuff. can u differenciate out which can b store on sd card and which have to store in internal memory? *from the pocketphone review, incredible S oni have abt 600MB nia* but not sure la~ @@ not a user yet~
*
That is depend on the telco customisation too... so if stock from htc should be 1.1gb for use... i don think IS is worst than my desire z internal memory for apps...

QUOTE(benny888 @ Mar 22 2011, 01:07 PM)
JUst only a day using this htc incredible s , I must say in terms of performance,  outclass my previous Galaxy S ( modded with voodoo lag fixes and froyo). There is virtually no lag in it unlike the Galaxy S. The SLCD display is beautiful, clear and colors great and  is much better than my present Galaxy Tab. GPS lockup is close to immediate - tested with both Papago X5 and Sygic Aura this morning
As like all previous HTC I have used, volume is too low /soft for notifications, videos and music
*
yes volume for notifications is soft... gps lock up is pretty fast too... galaxy s is a failure but still a lot of ppl like sammy... i hate sammy coz their stuff will not last if you are a heavy user, my home appliances did not last more than 3 years...

I have used several HTC models since the days of Windows Mobile 5 till Android - their volume is generally softer than the Samsung, Nokia, Sony Ericssons. But i just leave it as it is, never attempt to install any additional apps to improve it

Another point on this incredible s - the texture of the plastics especially back cover is very nice to hold ; you get a good grip feel and unlikely it will slip off easily from your hands. As someone has pointed out, the extremely thin back cover helps in its reduced weight . Need to be very careful taking off the back cover to avoid breaking the small snaps

The speaker doesn't really giving satisfaction, that's what I heard and most review says so as well.
Some even say if you put it in a bag, you might not noticed the ring tone at all.

If you are not in contract, can try Digi Smart plan, RM68/month not literally speaking to be unlimited, it still have an quota at 3GB, but they won't charge you any extra, just reduced your speed. Not including call, sms, mms fees though.

Nothing is cheap lor, cz taking maxis data plan you need to take care of your usage always, If exceed, you might need to pay a lot.
Unless you only go into internet, check mail and stuffs with WIFI, nothing else can actually beat the price of DIGI so call unlimited smart plan.

RM68 is only the data plan...

voice, sms, mms is all different cost on top of RM68...

voice = 15cent/min
sms = 10cent
mms = 20cent

to all networks!

so it is RM68 + ur calls and sms...

I use HTC since 2005 when they started as Dopod.I trusted HTC all the way.Abit scared to get Samsung coz I never tried it.Maybe I plan to get the captivate/vibrant/galaxy s mainly coz of it's hummingbird and 16 internal and amoled.

Yes true.I realised how to turn off data after my friends mentioned about it.

Engadget 21 Mar review of the Incredible S - generally a positive review
Wrapup summary:

Android, an operating system that has heretofore been characterized by constantly striving forward and pushing boundaries -- whether in terms of hardware specifications or the introduction of features wholly new to mobile devices -- has finally settled down and given rise to a truly mature product. Froyo has been with us for a good while, but that hasn't really tarnished its enduring excellence and HTC looks to have spent the time well in tightening up and optimizing its user experience. What's resulted is one of the most thoroughly refined Android handsets to date, whose case is enhanced by some dashing good looks, rock solid build quality, and a camera to be proud of. The Incredible S serves as a sterling exhibit of what can be achieved when devs and designers are given the time to polish up their work instead of having to reinvent the wheel with each and every new iteration. Of course, the flipside of that coin is that familiarity will inevitably breed some level of contempt, and this handset offers a compendium of good ideas from HTC's past rather than any revolutionary innovations of its own. Still, for those who disregard novelty in favor of a very well thought-out and produced device, the Incredible S delivers.

Kadajaxii : why do you wish to buy from spore if your savings is too little to justify it. If you look at garage sales here - sellers prices ranges RM 1600 to RM 1699
Warranty is standard 1 year. If you need to claim warranty - you will need to sent back to Spore. I bought from singapore cos is more convenient for me - just a less than 2 hour away, nearer than KL

Another point - depend on your luck, your unit could be hold up by customs. Than you need to go to SIRIM Shah Alam yourself to apply Sirim permit and pay any import duites - the courier will not do this for you. This will add another RM 300 to your cost

I bought the Streak cos of its 5" screen. After I got the TAB - the Streak was basically unused most of the time. I sold it off. I bought the Incredible S just for test purposes - has never use any HTC Androids except the HD2 ( Android port over to Windows 6.5 )

Before buying the IS, i bought a small android the 3.2 " CSL mi300 which was basically meant to be a complementary to the TAB. I thought I could live with a small 3.2" but I was wrong. Anyway this IS will replace the csl mi300 which by the way is a great budget android phone - highly recommended to budget conscious users

*
will IS have the same plan as DHD?
i check the plan for DHD before, pay RM68 for unlimited net surf, not including call, sms, mms bla bla...
not like i phone plan, u pay certain amount, including internet+free calls+free sms+free mms...
so for me, the plan is not so interesting.

for those who bought DHD, most of u sign digi plan?

*
Guess you really like the Tab huh. Was about to get one myself but since there are others soon to be released, perhaps i'll wait. My old man is using the mi300 and it works wonders for him too biggrin.gif

Depends on your internet usage.
DIGI currently have promotion for phone bundle for only a few models, DHD is in the list, having RM40 rebate on internet plan for first half year if you subscribe the Smart Plan.

But since Smart plan quota is at 3GB, but if you only use average of 500MB usage, that is quite no point for you to subscribe Smart plan, It's better you take maxis 500MB internet plan.

Digi Smart Plan Lite quota at 300MB.
Maxis have 500MB, 1.5GB, 3GB internet plan.

Kinda worry what GSMArena said might be true sad.gif
QUOTE
See the thing is, while the Incredible S hardware is perfectly adequate for the moment, it’s far from future-proofed. The first dual-core droids just hit the shelves and there’s a whole bunch more to come.

Developers will soon start to make use of the extra processing power and make their apps and games more demanding, which will render them incompatible with the Incredible S. And you wouldn’t want your new high-end smartphone to look underpowered in six-months time, do you?

Infact all single core 1 Ghz phones is already outdated. Over the next 1-2 months you will see more duocore phones available for sale. If you want to be more future proof - get those duo core. And also by the time the duo core reach us , end year we will have quad core .So the point is, we cannot never catch up. Just see your needs and 9/10 one of the the present models will suit you.

True. Just buy only. I doubt any apps other than games will need that much firepower. Mobile games will go 3D at this rate lol. I see some app developers who were previously with iphone received a major headache making games for android lol. Going to be something like a PC vs Apple again. Pretty soon I think for mobile games you have to adjust settings like AA/AF, Shadows, and Effects sweat.gif

Still awaiting root solutions. Paul of Modaco has also bought the Incredible S and we should all see a solution soon. I find the HTC build is good, fast and stable but with root at least I can run soome other apps such as Titanium Backup, SetCPU and Shootme

From Android Central/Android Police : http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/03/23/it...signed-as-well/

Bad news for anyone hoping to run custom ROMs on HTC's new Incredible S anytime soon. A recently-discovered RUU for the device seems to indicate that like its distant cousin the Thunderbolt 4G, the Incredible S has a signed bootloader and recovery image. This means any custom recovery image without a valid HTC signature (the kind you'd need to load a custom ROM on your device) would be detected by the phone, which would then deny you access to it.

This is a potentially major setback for any Incredible S owners hoping to ditch the stock ROM in favor of something a little more exotic, as it adds an extra hurdle to the usual rooting/flashing process. All is not lost, though, as recent progress in hacking the Thunderbolt may prove useful in eventually cracking the Incredible S's security. If you're thinking of picking up an Incredible S, let us know whether this will affect your choice in the comments.

thunderbolt has been rooted for some time already. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=996616

The Vivo (aka HTC Incredible S, remember the Vivo coz it'll be used a lot more often among the devs) implements a different set of security measures. I suspect the Desire S will have the same locks. But since XDA is quite still a HTC-centric community, the hope that it gets hacked is high(er).

Some guys think that only sets selling in Msia is original mainly due to warranty issues. I have been buying sets from Spore many times and as far as HTC is concerned, you need not worry about warranty claims. HTC Spore service center at Harbour Court is superb. They even handle my previous HTC bought in M'sia free of charge - replace the motherboard. If your set is bought under warranty by Brightpoint - any issue , just call the toll free number and they will collect the set from you in Spore any place , free ; you no need even have to go to HTC Center
I prefer to buy my stuffs from Spore as it is nearer than KL
This is my first HTC Android ( besides the HD2 ported unofficial Android ) - very impressed with the startup from off - just 5 seconds - I think it beats the DHD which I remember took 8-9 secs ( saw it at the official demo launch in Spore )

As far as the no-dual-core goes, we’re still in with the pack of people who aren’t quite sure about the battery usage when it comes to doubling down. A dual-core processor on a smartphone more often than not leads to a rather short battery time whilst comparing to a single-core – thusly Chris notes, and I and we agree, this might be the phone for you if you’re into working an average workload and you’d like a battery life that’s longer than 6 hours.

Yea using it now. Previously owned the Legend, what i can say about the Incredible S is the loudspeaker sound is slightly lower compare to Legend's. For camera, it focus and taking pic is very fast. Took a few macro pic this morning, i should say, wow its clear. Other than this, i have no complain.

Hi, don't currently own an Android, but am considering them.

Compared to the DHD, how does Incredible mainly differ. Or between the 2, what would be recommended?

Thanks

Incredible S is using Super LCD, the color is nicer compare to DHD.

I.S come with front camera for video call which DHD dun have it, may or may not be a use for u.

DHD is too big and bulky compare to I.S smaller in size.

Loudspeaker wise, it is louder than DHD according to my friend which tested both devices.

i don't know about DHD. I.S has dual mic to act as noise cancellation.

I.S battery life improvement as mentioned over few review sites.

This.

Evo 3D for GSM

Even the display also 3D, can watch 3D movies with the glasses.  rclxms.gif  thumbup.gif
*
This phone is ridiculous though, not even watching 3D, you can take 3D photo and 3D video as well.
And why the frequency written in GSMArena is different from PhoneArena?
This phone supposed to be a 4G phone and does not support frequency band at 850Mhz and 900Mhz.

yes I did the same thing too, dumped my Incredible S after 20 hours and got the Optimus 2X. Now waiting to dump it the moment the Galaxy S2 arrives. LG has a very poor looking UI compared to Samsung and weighs more. A lot of their widgets are either in Korean or Chinese even though you pick English as the default language. The home screen is about the most unattractive I have ever seen on any Android phone. But it is fast with no lagging so I guess custom rom may be the way to go...

And oh by the way, the 3g video calling (on Digi at least) works! The only other brand I know where it works is Samsung Galaxy S.

Confirmed 3g video calling does not work on the Incredible S. Not sure about the Atrix, Nexus S though.

RRP just around RM300 difference, depends what you want? You want to switch to smaller screen but better clarity + front camera or just only larger screen?
I don't see any other thing different from specifications...

DHD screen works fine in a room lighting. When you go outside during daytime, probably won't serve you the best, that's the disadvantages having TFT LCD screen.

Beside the screen, main different is the battery.

But I read different opinion in the net. Some say the battery last much longer, some say not much different from DHD.

Incredible S claimed to be rooted by a chinese dev.

http://bbs.goapk.com/thread-1534133-1-1.html

Though skeptics on XDA think it's either a hardware root that requires specialist tools, or doctored photos. Hopes are high though.

Anyone realize the mini USB port area, the glossy rim around it (for cosmetic) is a bit loose and wobbly? Its not the port, its tight and secure. This is just the black glossy rim around it that is loose.

Not really sure what you mean there..

But just to tell you that the phone speaker (which you generally use to call and receive call) is loud enough, problem is with the loud speaker (the one you will use when you do not have headset, earphone around but you still want to listen to music) in which when somebody call you, and you put it in your pocket, you might not hear the ringtone.

Based on most people reviews and experience playing around with friend's DHD, since most people say it's generally the same quality there.

yeah, I mean the speaker phone without headset. I like to turn on the speaker phone when talking in the car and use the speaker from the phone instead. Also, how about the quality of the mic, can the other party hear you clearly.

I dont like to use headset actually. And my wife also. Plan to get this for my wife.

There seems to be an issue as the screen seems to be adjusting the brightness up and down every now and then. I think they need to fine tune the light sensor's sensitivity to changes in ambient light. Got the same thing on my friend's unit too, so its not isolated to mine.

AFAIK s-off to flash stuff is only needed starting DHD and DZ, of which both have achieved s-off already.

The IS is different in the sense that it has a signed bootloader and recovery image, which involves more work to crack.

When you're interested in things with regards to the bootloader, you won't really be interested in running a shipped ROM, right? With that the chances of re-locking your bootloader via an OTA is nil. Not to mention the number of custom Sense Roms out there, if you're interested in that kind of thing.

To bring things back to the topic, as confirmed, root s-off has been achieved via a hardware kit (via something called an XTC Clip). A chinese forummer YuHong uploaded his pre-rooted IS ROM to flash. A shop in China is selling pre-rooted Incredible S-es.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1012787

evidence: http://www.flickr.com/photos/61046912@N04/5559463391/

There're also rumors that some IS'es were shipped with s-off from factory.

Nope, unless there is a firmware that fixes that (if it is really a problem). Right now you can disable automatic brightness and set a comfortable brightness level manually.
