Wait till you work in KV area with RM3k salary with high cost of living.

But I cant comment on how much you deserve based on years of experience. If you wish to get out, try to demand higher salary because of your experience. If they really appreciate you, then a bit higher salary at the age of 28 living in Malacca is just nice. I dont think it's underpaid.

It's no harm to try the market anyway.  smile.gif

Thanks Julie..
Yeah life in malacca is quite laid back, plus the cost of livIng is not as high as kl.. Perhaps im just bored with the current environment...

Btw, what is the average increment that consider normal, here is mine:

2007 - 1900 sad.gif ~ ext staff
2008 - 2900 smile.gif get permanent
2009 - 2950 sad.gif economic downturn
2010 - 3200 increase a bit
2011 - 3500 another increment

How much should i expect for the next year?

Agreed. But it also depends on the size of the company scale and the field.

Mine is as below.

Job Title: Senior Technical Consultant
Age: 30
Job Desciption: Provide records management consultation, technical training, onsite and offsite technical support, system testing, deployment, maintenance and operation.
Years spent in company: 5 years and a half
Company: Local (small scale company - about 10 people)
Industry: IT/Software Development and Consultation
Employment Level: Senior Executive
Experience before joining: 1 and a half year as a system developer
Salary: RM4.1k (basic RM3.5k)
Benefits: Medical benefit, 12% employer EPF, 5 days work, working hours 9 to 6, contractual bonus 1 month salary in December, annual leave 15 days, medical leave 10days, medical and dental fee claimable up to rm500 per year and mileage is claimable (0.60sen per km).

I know, it is pretty 'awesome'.

bro, i think good leh staying in malacca. Whole house you can get less than RM800. Less traffic, foods are dirt cheap! If you come CBJ you need to be worry of a couple of things.

1) Accomodation, unless you willing to stay with others else renting a house would cost you +- RM1.5k
2) Food... fking expensive... Average a meal during lunch hour > RM9.90
2) If you stay outside of CBJ prepare for the bad traffic.

*Your increment is pretty good to be honest. in CBJ i think it's a standard that you will get > RM4.5 - 6k base on your exp.

Thanks for the encouragement man. Kind of glad I still didn't 100% give up. Still searching for some new pot of rice out there but didn't get any yet.

@ivanswk
Haha. Actually I can live with it... but with some (and usually a lot of) sufferings la. High cost living in KL. >_<

@overclocker
Hehe. Really appreciate your encouragement. Yeah, very grateful that it is halal. However I do want to experience new fields especially in manufacturing and Oil Gas. But it's hard to knock their door. IT doesn't looks so appealing to them unless you do some codings or you have an engineering background. *sigh

Thanks man, at least I know what are the market value for my field.. Truly agreed that expense in malacca quite cheap:
- whole house rental 300 only
- food ~ depends on location, normally i cook
- no hustle bustle/ traffic jam

Maybe I just need to be thankful,, more smile.gif

all i know is shell and petronas only. they had outsourced their IT department to various vendor. Thus, you might not be able to enjoy their benefits too much.

besides, living cost in cyberjaya is very high and traffic become jam nowadays. thanks to HP global center. no parking during lunch hour and people forced to go dengkil or serdang to enjoy their meal.

if you are elite in SAP, you can get yourself a very luxury seat in most of the MNC IT department.

Do not think about cyberjaya if they not able to provide you 40% or more increment. Not worth to work there.

Food is expensive there. like others said, it might cost you RM9.90 and above.

Home sweet home. unless u like clubbing.....KL is your paradise. haha.... drool.gif (ah moi cantik banyak)
