my mistake.. yes.. no need 3 files.. only flash the 1 file..

u can always backup ur contact using google by synchronise contact from setting.. and you can view/edit the contact at www.google.com/contacts..
or you can use backup apps suchs Titanium backup or Mybackup to backup ur contact to sd..

I already use the MIUI Rom, it quite good but i not recommend for everyday use. Bear in mind that the base of MIUI come from the cyanogen mode,
so all problem from cyanogenmod 7 also carry on this ROM.

If you can live with:-
short battery life,
unstable 3G(lock & unlock phone can fix it),
difficult to download from android market and browser(seriously, i only can download something 2 times out of 10 trial, restart sometimes help),
no music & pic gallery( poweramp & quickpic can be alternative),
not all game work( most game i install will close by itself, only 4 out of 15 works),
accelerometer not work(it actually work at first but after you enter a game with accelerometer it will not work, restart fix it back),
cannot save the contact in the phone,
call will drop,
no fm radio,
no front facing camera,
camera lack of feature,
can't play avi, divx, mkv by default(moboplayer maybe can)
sometime can become sluggish, don't know why
all the benefit come from samsung will obviously gone,
(hardware accelerator for internet, slide to call/msg,music FLAC file, 5.1 surrounding sound, divx, bla2.., you get the idea)

that's all i ever encounter so far. I actually love this rom, it actually really fast, maybe
after they sort all the problems, i will dump the samsung rom. The feel of use this ROM
totally different from original android, it introduce a lot of feature inside the ROM

If you don't know basic about flash using odin( i know almost of you use clockworkmod recovery),
don't try it or you will in the big trouble if you want to recover back your original rom( especially
without the 3 button recovery/download should avoid do this). For some reason, my phone cannot
start when want to downgrade back to froyo, keep vibrating, end up to semi brick my phone. I need
to start all back from stock 2.1 to 2.2.1, really a long day to get my phone functioning back.
Actually this ROM quite stable for the beta, hope codeworkx and the team can eliminate all the bugs
inside the cyanogenmod 7. This is far the best ROM(without all the bugs mention before) i have tried

Cm7 team has already fixed the sdcard mounting problem. Expect miui to have that patch as well!

If you look at the samfirmware.com guide, there's a difference between needing repartitioning or not depending on the file has one, or three files. I have indian stock rom with 1 file only.

What rom you flash actually? never heard about it, you sure for international galaxy s? If the phonne brick,
and don't have 3 button download/recovery the only way to revive it using the USB JIG. Don't simply flash
any ROM to phone, sure will brick it. Buy the USB JIG and you will never worry about bricking the phone

Oh, looks like MIUI Rom still has a lot of issues....hmmm

any chance to extract the screen off animation of cm7 or miui onto another rom?

MIUI beta 4 can detect the ext sd coz using CM7 kernel. Only the applications can't see it. If you use File Manager (No wonder it has two file managers and I forgot which one, try both), you can see your ext sd as /mnt/emmc or emmc

Found a bug in Handcent reminder notification.

I set mine to every 2 minutes. After a few reminder notification, my phone's sound driver/module is being locked up. No more sound from the phone, even answering call also has no sound. Have to restart phone.

Anyone faced this problem?

yeap no other way besides that.. since your friend bricked his phone, only way is to reflash to stock rom.. so in my opinion, the samsung svc centre wouldnt know your friend has rooted his phone before, since flashing to stock rom will result in loss of superuser(rooting)

his set have to unlock the 3button like me first, then only can enter both recovery and download mode. of cause, unlocking can be brick the phone.

i just got myself my galaxy s again How to fix the 3 button combo ? arghhh

adb method also won't work for him (meaning unlocking the 3br will not work).. he has the recovery & download mode initially.. just that he failed in flashing rom and bricked it..
