QUOTE(SonicSpyro @ Mar 1 2011, 04:13 PM) NP8130 (2630QM/2720QM + GTX 460M) = NP8690 (920/940XM + HD 5870M) in terms of performance. Sure the Sandy Bridge CPUs are faster but the bottle neck of that model comes from the GPU. The NP8130 can't support the XM model of the new SB while the NP8690 can still be upgraded to the XM model of its generation. Buying an XM isn't cheap though.. I think if I try and sell for around 3.5k ~ 3.8k, it should still pass because I have an extra GPU that goes with the package (GTX 280M). I still haven't decided on whether or not to sell this baby. Still thinking and gathering all the input I can. QUOTE(kpchoo29 @ Mar 1 2011, 05:58 PM) This is not the case. It's not only happening to Sager models but also other manufacturers. But the thing is, there's only very handful of Sandybridge laptops that were out from January. There's not enough evidence, and not enough users to report the problem. I am wishing that the "freeze" in most laptops are fixed or ridden off after the new fix, if it really existed. |

Well, Sager/Clevo decided to release a new model at CeBit 2011.
A refresh of the X8100 with SB processors, dubbed the P180HM. This was their 18.4" lineup previously. Very...uncreative of Clevo. Guess that's inevitable due to the new models they've already released, bit too soon for another one I think. This post has been edited by This is a Lamp: Mar 2 2011, 07:57 PM |

It is a 500GB with an inbuilt 4GB SSD, and I'm pretty sure you will get a LOT of performance boost in comparison with the 7200RPM drive you chose.Added on March 2, 2011, 8:11 pmPlus when I saw the review on xoticpc on NP8130 and NP8150 and saw the difference between a Matte screen and Glossy I just knew that going Matte is a clear win =) |

QUOTE(SonicSpyro @ Mar 3 2011, 08:43 AM) Its there. The option that says "500G 7200RPM w/4G SSD". An extra RM 223 but worth every cent. Google the reviews. Yea I see it thanks for the replies =)Can't wait for the new shipments to arrive! I just noticed Sager now giving upgrades to Killer Network cards. Are they a good investment for my NP8130? If you're gonna go with a SSD as a primary drive, get a larger drive as a secondary. No point putting the Momentus XT. You won't see much of a boost in performance with that setup. Go for the 750GB 7200RPM @ 500GB 7200 RPM option. Added on March 3, 2011, 2:13 pmThis will probably be my final customization for the NP8130 tell me if there is room for improvements. Also I do not think that Bigfoot's Killer Network card will make any significant difference (correct me if I am wrong). Overall what do you pros think of my selection? Room for improvements or upgrades you think I can throw away for and replace another? And which reseller should I get it from taking everything into condition (Price, Before/After Sales Service, Reputation) Option #1 or Option#2? And since Sager has yet to recover from the SB flaw maybe I am missing some other sites out there or local resellers here on lowyat I could probably get my lappy from. Suggestions anyone? And please excuse me for being indecisive just investing so much on a laptop want to get the best bang for my buck. This post has been edited by okf987: Mar 5 2011, 12:44 PM |
